The wonderfully frustrating world of E-sport. For anyone who has ever played any semi-competitive games, you’re going to know just how much hard work has to go into playing at a good level and keeping you and your team there. A lot of teams come and go, and you might have found yourself in one that has folded however there are a few things you can do with your team to make it that little bit more successful, so read on to find out about them!
Train Against Other Teams
Most people who get into e-sports will have come from just playing regular matchmaking; this is how you meet other people, get good and lay the foundations for setting up your team. Matchmaking is the way that most people get incredibly good, but if you’re a team you need to be training against other teams. When you play matchmaking, chances are that the other team isn’t premade, meaning that they’re not going to be as organized as you so they’ll be easier to win against. This is why it’s good for your team to use services such as ESEA to find other teams and train against them on privately hosted servers. This way, you get a much more competitive team to play against, honing your skills even more than they already are.
Get A Uniform
We’ve all watched the CS:GO, DotA, LoL and Starcraft II majors, and what do all of these teams have in common when they walk onto the stage? Uniforms. They all have team jerseys, hats, caps, even glasses! But if you get them, what does it mean for you? Well, firstly it allows your players to all feel a part of the team, it gives them something to wear and be proud of so their morale will be boosted when they play. Secondly, it gives your team a brand to sell wares from, just incase you make it big! You can get uniforms made in the USA, something you should invest in if you’re being serious about playing.
Use The Same Equipment
This is the best way to try to make money, but it’s not overly apparent. If your team uses all of the same kit such as steelseries or corsair, you have a much better chance of becoming sponsored by them. If you can show a company that all of you use their equipment and that you’re willing to endorse them within your teams brand then it puts you in the perfect spot for a sponsorship, which is the first step on the way to competing at a major!
Doing all of these things is going to mean that your team is organized, you’ll have a uniform that makes you feel part of something, you’ll all use the same kit to be gunning for a sponsor and you’ll be training against, and with other teams to keep your players razor sharp. Of course, you don’t have to be good at games to be successful within the gaming community, recording yourself playing games like this, if you’re good enough, can make you successful too!
