More Women In Professional Sports

This observation is more about the U.S. N.F.L., but it can be applied to anything else really.

 

The N.F.L. over here is taking a big ratings hit because they still, to this day, feel that interjecting social statements into their games is a good idea. It's not. Fans over here, and I'm one of them, are tired of seeing this. Couple this with the fact that only a fraction of fans are allowed in a stadium at one time, and you get a pro game that looks and feels like something out of the minor's.

 

I have a suggestion. You wanna make a social statement that will gain the interest back in fans and not hurt the integrity of the sport? Allow more females to play in traditionally male populated sports. Like football. Kickers for example would be a great fit. Officials as well.

I think officiating would be the best place to start. That can be done in any sport you can think of.

 

It makes sense really.........women officiating men. A natural transition from home to the workplace. LOL

I don't diligently follow the NFL, but I get the drift, especially considering that women comprise nearly half of the audience. However, is it about female players not being able to join, or has this got to do with the league focusing more on attracting young women to the sport?

I think it has more to do with the league doing more to attract women to the sport. Though the game has expanded over the past few years, there is yet to be a professional women's league.
