UFC as a monopoly?

There have been monopoly accusations lobbed against the UFC for years now as Zuffa and now WME-IMG gobbled up smaller promotions. But is it really a monopoly? Bellator is the UFC's biggest competitor and the promotion has deep-pockets thanks to Viacom. ONE Championship is the most popular promotion in the Eastern part of the world and a UFC competitor as well. So why does the UFC continue to have this horrible reputation of being a monopoly organization?

I really think the accusation has more to do with the actual control that the UFC exerts within the sport, rather than a complete absence of competition from other promotions.
