Welcome to the forum, Classified.

I read the books before seeing the movies and, although the movies were great, the books were better.

That's usually the rub, isn't it? Movie adaptations don't often measure up and the film had some creative liberties that were jarring like Azog rising from the dead and Tauriel coming out of nowhere.
