Resident Evil 2 remake officially announced

Capcom have officially announced a remake of Resident Evil 2, considered the best entry in the franchise alongside RE4.

They're still working on the remake of Resident Evil 0, which is due out in 2016 (off the back of the amazing performance of the Resident Evil HD remake).

When the HD game was released, it had enough similarities to the original release to allow you to wallow in nostalgia, but also added enough changes to make it worth playing through again (Crimson Heads, new puzzles, etc).

Capcom has officially put the Resident Evil 2 remake into development. The news was announced in a video message from Producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi, a.k.a. H, from R&D Division 1.

It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved,” H says. “The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans’ passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want.

No time frame for the remake’s release was mentioned, which is to be expected seeing as it has only now gone into official development, but H promises updates soon. In the meantime, Resident Evil fans can look forward to the HD remaster of Resident Evil Zero, releasing in early 2016.
