Which forgotten game would you like to see a current-gen remaster of?

For me, it would be a Ghosthunter, which was a really fun third-person shooter on the PS2 that had great mechanics, fantastic graphics and a really well put together story.

Just after that would be a double-pack of Fear Effect and Fear Effect 2.

Heart of Darkness from the old PS1. With stuff like Abe's Odyssey getting the remaster treatment, and with this being a similar kind of game, I'd really like to see it get a spit and sparkle and a re-release.

Although to be perfectly honest, the whole gaming remake/remaster thing is starting to get just as silly as the movie stuff now.

I look it more along the lines of it either being a chance for those who missed out on games people rave about to experience them (much like the recent Monkey Island) or a chance for those who caught them first time out and just want to relive a classic from their youth (much like the recent Monkey Island).

Sticking with the remaster, word is that Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (although probably not origins) will be getting PS4 / Xbone upgraded releases.

Again, this is a good chance for people to play these games if the current generation is their first venture into the world of console gaming.

I used to love that half the fun of tracking down old games was having to track down the retro system to play them on. That's how I ended up with my Dreamcast, Megadrive and Gamecube. I've kept my old PS2 and my original Xbox, purely because some games aren't playable through backwards compatability.

It just grates a little that games that are only a couple of years old are being remastered with a big fat price tag just because we're in the next console generation.

Why? You don't have to buy them.

Not everyone has / can afford to buy old consoles and playing an upgraded version (whether due to graphical limitations or new content) would probably be better for those who have the PS4 / Xbone as their first console, since they won't have the nostalgia factor to overcome the limitations of the old versions.

No I don't, and won't, but it also means that in the long run I end up suffering from these studios not creating new IPs and simply relying on remasters aimed at people who missed the last gen, instead of creating something good for everyone on the current gen.

It's the same reason I don't go to the movies much anymore. It seems most movie studios aren't really bothered about taking risks on anything new, and I fear that is the way the gaming industry is gonna go. You've got guys like Nintendo and Konami making no bones about the fact that they'd like to get into the mobile gaming "pay to play" market, as a way to part you from even more money for a vastly inferior and cheaper to produce product. Games are being released unfinished and demanding you download huge updates to actually make them playable. All the extras you used to grind through a game to unlock are now sold as DLC. And now to cap it all off the studios have started trying to fleece everyone for £50-60 to play a game that only came out a couple of years ago.

To be honest, the gaming industry can f*ck off at the moment. Between "gamers" being idiots and bullies, and the companies themselves being greedy b*stards I've lost a lot of the love I used to have for all things game related. I can see why Notch took the money and ran at this point.

Most of the remasters are not done by the original studios.

For example, the upcoming Uncharted collection (the first three games remastered and released on the PS4) is being done by Bluepoint Games and not Naughty Dog, as the latter is still working on Uncharted 4 (which I get is not a new IP, but it's still a new - and very in demand - game).

Bluepoint Games also did the God of War Collection, the remastered versions of Ico / Shadow of the Colossus and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PS3 (all upgraded from PS2) and Flower on the PS4 (upgraded from the PS3), so they have a bit of history in this regard.
