The WWE has redefined the Grand Slam, it is now the World, US, IC and Tag titles. According to them, only 6 men have won this version of the Grand Slam and they are...

Kurt Angle

Big Show

Edge

The Miz

Eddie Guerrero

Daniel Bryan

...wonder if HHH will come out of retirement to face Bryan for the US title so he can his name to that list once more?

Current WWE wrestlers who are one title away for Grand Slam status:

  • Goldust and Kofi Kingston require the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
  • John Cena and The Undertaker require the Intercontinental Championship.
  • Kane and Triple H require the United States Championship.

Expecting Cena to pick up the IC title sometime soon. Though if they could get the belt on Goldust however briefly that would be ace.

Well under the old standard, which was one of the two World Championships, one of the two Tag championships, the Hardcore or European belt and the IC title it didn't include the US title which might be the reason given they have sort of swept the Euro and Hardcore title histories under the rug but want to big up the US title more these days.

Under the old standard the Grandslam holders where...

Michaels (WWE, World, World Tag, WWE Tag, IC and European)

HHH (WWE, World, World Tag, WWE Tag, IC and European)

Kane (WWE, World, World Tag, WWE Tag, IC and Hardcore)

Jericho (WWE, World, World Tag, WWE Tag, IC, Hardcore and European)

Angle (WWE, World, WWE Tag, IC, Hardcore and European)

Eddie (WWE, WWE Tag, IC and European)

RVD (WWE, World Tag, WWE Tag, IC, Hardcore and European)

Booker T (World, World Tag, IC, Hardcore and European)

Jeff Hardy (WWE, World, World Tag, IC, Hardcore and European)

JBL (WWE, World Tag, IC, Hardcore and European)

Christian (World, World Tag, Hardcore, IC and European)

Big Show (WWE, World, World Tag, WWE Tag, IC and Hardcore)

So I can only assume they have burnt the Jeff Hardy bridge or it is just to big up the US title more.

I doubt anyone in WWE is even remotely thinking about Jeff Hardy right now. If, as it seems, they are trying to push the IC and US titles back into prominence, it makes sense to do this. They are the four active titles, so it makes sense for them to be the requirement for the Grand Slam, that was everyone on the roster has a kayfabe vested interest in the slam, whereas before the US Champion and those challenging for it wouldn't.

Yes and no. Bret and Flair won the World Tag Titles, not the WWE Tag Titles, as Angle and Edge both won them before they where unified into the current tag championship (and an exclusive title on Smackdown) they are classed as winning the belts.

The old World Title was officially disbanded in 2010 so the WWE Tag Title became the only active tag title in the company and its lineage traces back to the creation of those titles in 2002.

I agree as well, as unified titles surely they contain the lineage of both sets of titles but the WWE doesn't agree because as we all know, at times, the WWE are idiots.

I mean why seal the tag titles and then devalue them by only recognising the lineage of some belts created in 2002?
