Have wXw signed a FloSlam deal to stream their shows? Because if they have, then that's the last you'll see of Pete or any UKCT competitors until their WWE contracts run out. It's the same reason why they got pulled from

What's gonna be interesting is that there's a PROGRESS show scheduled for this weekend, and all of British Strong Style are supposed to be there. But then rumours abound that Tyler and Pete may be showing up either at Takeover or the Rumble itself.

It's not outside the realms of possibility for them to perhaps appear on Takeover and catch a red eye flight that would get them to London in time for the Sunday afternoon show, but bloody hell that'd take some doing.

I'm still in two minds about this whole WWE deal. If they do something, great, if they don't then they've successfully fucked over 16 of the top guys in the UK and stopped them from working in a lot of other places.

It's funny as you may see TNA contracted wrestlers such as Drew on the network.

That would be real shitty move by TNA to pull talent from bookings. Depending on who you are, you're not earning big at that place. How's a wrestler supposed to earn money, if TNA tape a few days every three months and do no live tours?

I think other than Lashley, everyone else is taking bookings.

With WWE, at least as one of the UK Talent, you're earning quite a bit with additional bookings elsewhere (well if the talent isn't pulled).

I'm interested to see where this 5 Star Wrestling thing is going on Spike TV in the UK.

Aren't WWE pulling talent now?

The answer is maybe but... All the guys mentioned have missed a few dates but if WWE are thinking of actively using them (which sounds like it's true) then why the fuck would you not bin off indie UK/Europe shows to work with the WWE? Plus I doubt any promoter or fan would begrudge any of these guys the chance to make it however remote or limited.

There's no indication WWE are pulling the guys because they simply don't want them wrestling with certain promotions, unlike what was said above where TNA barely tape and so barely pay people a regular wage so preventing them from working for other promotions would be incredibly shitty.

Interested to see how the ICW/WWE potential relationship works on the network. They'll have to make the content over 18's only or tone it down and I can;t see Dallas censoring the show just to buddy with WWE... maybe.
The Network has parental controls and the original ECW is on there pretty much as it originally aired, so ICW should be fine.

From what I read online (based on reports from Meltzer), Progress and OTT are also meant to be signing up to the Network (with an "Indy Scene" selection from the 'Shows' drop-down on The Network) and WWE are also actively trying to have EVOLVE move from FloSlam to The Network also.

It's worth noting that WWE has a financial stake in FloSlam as well.

So here's HHH answer to all the speculation:

http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/798529-mike-johnson-confronts-triple-h-over-concerns-that-wwe-is-starting-the-end-of-the-european-indy-scene

Earlier today WWE held it’s WWE NXT: San Antonio Takeover Media Call hosted by Paul “Triple H” Levesque. [...]

MJ: I want to ask you about the UK scene. You guys signed a number of talents that worked the tournament. Since then those talents have been pulled from appearing on different UK promotions and European promotions based on where that content is going to appear. Whether it be on the FloSlam platform or on iPPV or whatever. Before the tournament took place there seemed to be this understanding that nobody was going to have any sort of restraints where they could work and now you’ve got a bunch of indy promotions, some of which you guys tried to forge relationships with, all scrambling to reshuffle cards. Can you explain why this happened and why there wasn’t a grace period? Also, where did the misunderstanding come from? You have a lot of people freaking out over there that you guys are about to do the 2017 version of what happened in the 80’s where Vince walked in and trounced all the territories. There’s a lot of guys concerned that you guys are about to start the beginning of the end of the European indy scene.

PL: Yeah, there’s a lot of confusion based on that. A lot of that confusion is based on people’s refusal to acknowledge the reality of the situation. We signed talent as part of this UK tournament. We are looking forward to doing what will eventually become a weekly show over there. The talent knew going in what the deal was. They knew what the restrictions were and they knew what the restrictions weren’t. We’re not restricting them from working for anybody as long as it’s not distributed. As long as there is no distribution outside of the live event. Some of these promotions tried to come in after the fact and add a distribution component to that. Talent didn’t sign up for that to start with. It was added coming off of the success of what we did or what they were working on. That’s a change. That’s a change in how the talent is being dealt with. Talent had an agreement to go to a live event and compete on a live event and that’s changed. We’re not heavy handing anybody. We are asking them to approve and work with us and the groups. I was very clear when I was over there that we want to work with groups that are cultivating talent and not groups that are just coming in and one-offing talent. Is there a period of time where we are allowing guys to work for people? Absolutely. Every single one of these talents knew the deal. They knew the deal going in to it and they knew what the ask was and they knew what their restrictions are. Coming out the other side of it there is a lot of confusion. It’s not on our side. It’s not on the talent’s side, I believe. It’s on the promoters side who just kind of changed things and do things however they want to do things. You can call them promotions but there are a lot of people that do one-off shows over there. There is a big difference. All of this is strategic and you are going to see a lot of announcements here in a short period of time. Where I think all of the questions you are having now and the fears people are having will go away. People are going to go, “Oh, it’s very clear what they are doing now.” It’s just strategic. You can’t come out right and say those things.

So that's a bold statement, if it's streamed, they're taken off.

Possibly a slight shot at What Culture? A bit ironic though.... That said, it's ultimately down to the talent themselves and more power to them of course.

I'd assume not given that those take longer to produce and come out, I'd assume the streaming side is to prevent people booking talent after WWE makes them famous and getting footage out immediately to capitalise on it.

I wonder how this affects Wolfgang, he's ICW champ so he's probably got to lose the title on a taped show. I wonder if Dallas has a "Special Relationship" given they are probably the big indie name that is being linked with the network that will allow them to continue to broadcast their own stuff in parallel.

The weird things I've read is WWE apparently have some financial stake in Floslam

Yeah; I mentioned a few posts ago that I'd read reports stating the same, though other reports lean towards it being that WWE made a financial investment to get the service up and running, but have no actual stake in the company itself. Seems this is where they could have some (slight?) leverage in getting EVOLVE to move streaming platforms.

On another note, the indies that appear on The Network (if that does come to fruition) could benefit from WWE name talent appearing on their shows in a one-off capacity (surprise or pre-announced; the latter being more likely due to the tickets it would likely sell, although the former would give said indy shows a "you never know who might appear at a live event" vibe too) more blatantly than they do now.

What I'd like to see is them using NXT as a stagingpoint between theindies and WWE. I'd love something like PoloPromotions to turn up on NXT with the ICW titles and challenge whoever is champs to a title v title, lose, have the NXT guys do a few events for ICW alongside NXT and then allow Polo Promotions to win back their belts and maybe the NXT ones for a short period. Something where it could go on for a decent amount of time, expose the talents to the two sorts of audience (because I think WWE guys would benefit from working with the more interactive European audiences) and ultimately bring on lots of new talent without necessarily having to have everyone "on" the NXT roster.

A slight spoiler concerning Tyler Bate and Wolfgang.

Wolfgang and Tyler Bate had matches before NXT Takeover which will possibly air on the NXT tapings soon. Bate faced off with Oney Lorcan, not sure who Wolfgangs opponent was.

Dunne and Trent Seven were of course in the UK during the weekend for PROGRESS Chapter 43.

Also, this 5 Star Wrestling thing was really just a showcase of former WWE stars right? Meh, don't know about that..

It's only just twigged that 5 star wrestling are the same people responsible for that shitty, shitty wrestling game called 5 star wrestling. From what I remember the game was supposed to be a way to fund the wrestling shows, when in reality it looks like it was just a way for them to get the imports they wanted.

I know it's probably a really snobbish attitude to have, but I don't count that 5 Star show as a UK Wrestling show. Sure it's a show that took place in the UK, but where World of Sport and WWE actually made a point of utilising and showcasing UK talent, this 5 Star show just didn't.

Actually, they seem to have more in common with 1PW than anyone else, and we all know how that went down...

One of Europe's prestige tournaments today is on the horizon with wXw 16 Carat Gold commencing on 10. - 12. March. I for one cannot wait and it looks to be sold out in the next couple of days. Unfortunately, Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne were pulled from the tournament due to WWE commitments.

Here's the 1st Round draw (shoddy draw aside :D)

After defeating WALTER in a no. 1 Contendership match in London, 2 weeks ago, Jurn Simmons will face Axel Dieter Jr. for the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship.

Some guys will be pulling double-duty with Ambition 8 also taking place Saturday afternoon. Ambition is kind of a shoot-style wrestling tournament.

Lionheart and Joe Hendry had a little shoot/handbag moment in Manchester this week. Rumour is Lionheart made an off colour remark about Hendry's missus backstage, Joe took that into the ring and shot on Lionheart. Lionhert was dropped from the tour which seems a little harsh given Joe took it into the ring.

I was actually going to post about this after reading through some comments in the official ICW group on Facebook.

But weren't the said comments by Lionheart said in a promo on a show Hendry wasn't on? I couldn't understand what was said because of Scottish people actually writing on FB/Twitter like how they would talk in real life. xD

"I'll stop taking selfies wae ma dug when you stop shaggin' one"

I'm not sure if it's a full shoot, Lionheart has been open about this on Twitter and has taken Hendry off his Pro Wrestling Elite show. I'd have thought that for it to be a full shoot, fists would have been flying but maybe in this case, it was Hendry trying to out-wrestle and embarrass Lionheart. (Lionheart mentioned it happening before with Jackie Polo in a statement on Twitter)

It really should have been handled backstage, Hendry is better than that. I also think it's harsh that Lionheart is the only one getting scratched from the tour.

Who knows where it'll go on from here, maybe they'll go further and make the real-life heat into a work. Depends on if Dallas will go on board with it.

-----------------

Has anyone read or heard about comments made by the PCW social media team (probably Fludder) being total dicks to fans regarding the Kris Travis tournament and profits not going to charity?

Well Pete Dunne pulled himself from the show due to "insensitive comments", was replaced by Marty Scurll and he cancelled too. So Pentagon's without an opponent as of right now.

Not sure on the current situation, all loosely based on stuff I've read on UKFF and twitter.

----------------------

Also going to my first wXw show of the year tomorrow in Hamburg. Commenwealth Catch Kings better be taking over!

When you look at it it looks like Hendry is dong all the forehead pushing, shoving and not releasing Lionheart from the corner. Lionheart works it our and then Hendry just takes him down to the canvas and shoves his forearms in his face. I don't see Lionheart retaliate until Hendry is literally on top of him.

If it was in a promo then Hendry needs to buck up given that he's made a career out of singing songs mocking people. If it was backstage then punch Lionheart in the mouth and then have the match or don't. End of the day the ring is the workplace so be professional.

Update on Lionheart/Hendry:

http://www.insanewrestling.co.uk/news/stories/lionheart_hendry_statement/

"We have received a lot of attention online regarding an incident that occurred on our recent show in Manchester involving Joe Hendry and Lionheart, resulting in a scheduled match not taking place. To avoid any further speculation regarding this incident, we would like to inform the Insane Championship Wrestling fans that this situation has been dealt with internally. Joe Hendry will perform as scheduled in next weekends upcoming tour shows, and Lionheart will return to action soon."

And that's that.

So after a massive and awesome 16 Carat Gold Tournament. Ilja Dragunov defeated Walter in a brutal match. I have never wanted a chop-fest to stop, Walter just didn't stop and skin was ripping off. My chest was literally hurting with Ilja. Look at the guys chest and really check this guy out in the next upcoming months.

In fact, watch and listen to what Walter just does.
