DC 536
For the UK members of the forums, it's a sad day for lovers of wrestling magazines as this month's issue of Powerslam is to be the last.
GENE 86
No way! That magazine has always been my reading material of choice when I have a long journey to go on. Edited July 20, 2014 by Kam
Guest The Beltster
Wow, first I'd heard of this. Power Slam and its predecessor Superstars of Wrestling were always my favourite wrestling mags dating back over 20 years. But in the last several years I'd found myself skipping months and in the last 12 months I dont think I've bought a single issue.
King 277
I'm exactly the same Belty, the first issue I bought was way back in 1992, WrestleWar 1992 cover, damn sad day indeed!! Edited July 20, 2014 by Kam
Guest The Beltster
First issue I had had a WrestleMania 8 cover and an advert to win a belt in the back along with ads for Honky Tonk Mans hotline and some other prizes etc I've still got it here somewhere although I think the cover is missing. DC 536
I can't remember the exact issue, but it was back in the SoW days and the magazine folded out into a massive British Bulldog poster. It was also the same magazine that broke the news to me that Randy Savage and The Genius were brothers. My introduction to kayfabe-breaking had begun. :lol
Guest Jack
It's a shame to see PowerSlam go but I'm surprised it's not happened sooner, honestly. The last time I got a copy would have been maybe 4 or 5 years ago but it was a dreadful magazine, probably because it's editor was a biased moron. Guest Inno
Used to get it every month, still have a stash of them from the Attitude era, and RAW magazine too. Shocked it lasted as long. Print is a dying medium :/
King 277
Yeah Fin Martin, you either loved him or hated him.
Guest The Beltster
I hated him I'll be honest. He was a bias pr*ck who, alot of the times, used Power Slam to push his own agendas.
King 277
I wasn't a fan either, I remember when Rob Butcher (well known tape trader) was high up on the pecking order there, still though Powerslam/SOW was the Internet of Wrestling Magazines back in the day. King 277
Is this months a double issue or a goodbye issue??
ShaolinHandLock 73
I used to buy them for years, until all the places near me that sold them stopped selling them.
Guest pheadley
used to love those magazines, the top 50 wrestlers of the year and award issues with the most abysmal wrestlers/ matches of the year where my favourite. always gutted when apart of my childhood ends. DC 536
Is this months a double issue or a goodbye issue??It's a goodbye issue and seems to have been a recent decision as the last edition made no mention of #237 being the last. However you felt about the magazine, a 20yr run is a fantastic achievement. Fin Martin says in the editorial piece that he'll go into detail on the reasons why the magazine was closed on http://www.psmag.co.uk in the coming weeks. While it was partly financial due to slowing sales (across most print media in general as well as PS specifically), he says there are other factors involved. The worst part is that now Fighting Spirit Magazine is the main UK wrestling magazine and they're more biased that Fin Martin was, even at his peak. Guest The Beltster
Thing is, wrestling sucks right now. Yeah its my opinion but I'm not alone in thinking this so if I had to cover this shit for a living, I'd want out too!
Guest Laffy
I have just had an e-mail saying my subscription will be refunded as I will no longer be receiving the magazine. Sad time have not read this months yet sitting in my room. Now to work out what to buy instead.
Guest The Beltster
Get a print subscription to the Wrestling Observer. Best out there plus you get access to the online archives and all the audio stuff.
Guest The Bisch
Wow, bit surprised to hear this. I bought it every month from mid 1997, before then I had been been buying Pro Wrestling Illustrated, and when I first saw PS in a newsstand I was: "hey, a magazine that isn't patronising and admits wrestling's rigged!" Plus I had no internet then, and it became my main source of wrestling news. I think I stopped buying it religiously around 2003 as the internet provided all the wrestling news and opinion I needed faster. Think I will go and pick up this month's issue now though, it was a fairly big part of my youth

Guest The Puzzler
I remember buying the 1st issue of PS back in 1994.Owen Hart was on the front cover after winning the 1994 KOTR.Bought every issue since then.I know there is a box up at my mums with issue 1 onwards. Not too sure how many issues are in the box but i know it's a fair amount. I don't have every issue due to me losing some things when i was moving. I remember in earlier issues there was section where you could write in if you were selling anything, looking for something or just wanting to speak to other wrestling fans.Of course this was before email so you had to write letters to each other.
