King 277
Wilshere letting himself down again, http://balls.ie/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/BsfWvJZCIAA1VDg.jpg
Ryan 188
Cant see that picture but i've seen a few on Twitter. I am absolutely DISGUSTED that Wilshere has gone on holiday with his lads and enjoyed some beers and cigarettes. This is something that has never, ever happened in football, not by good players and not by great. Someone should make a formal complaint to FIFA about this. How f*cking dare he enjoy himself, has he absolutely no shame? He's on holiday, he's had a beer, he's smoked. He's also an adult, get over it. :xyx
Guest John Hancock
I didn't even notice the smoking, I was already too angry about seeing a bare-chested man sharing a public space with a woman who I would expect he isn't even directly related to. Ryan 188
Such a shame he's enjoying his holiday. I thought they were supposed to be spent staying inside playing a miserable game of scrabble?
Shaun2J 127
This is what every footballer does, what do you think the Germans are doing right now? They're dring beer and smoking cigars...

Ryan 188
The Premier League 2014/15 There is absolutely no difference :lol Every player like Wilshere has had a full season and a World Cup, they deserve to do whatever they like, whether they were there for 3 matches or 7. There was a picture I saw in twitter yesterday or Messi, Balotelli, Zidane, Rooney, Özil smoking and drinking. It's what football players do when they're on a break. If I went to say.. Ayia napa and someone told me I couldn't smoke or drink id laugh in their face.

I totally agree, but Wilshere seems to me like a guy who likes the bad boy image he's after getting, flipping the bird, smoking, ranting on Twitter etc.... dude needs to concentrate more on his football for next season. Ryan 188
Ballotelli, Zidane, Rooney have all done far worse than Wilshere has to be fair. Ive had a shit week at work before and no ones had a go at me for smoking and having some beers down the pub. I just think people are getting far too irate about it for no real reason. Guest Magic
He's paid an awful lot of money to be a top class professional footballer. Part of that includes keeping your body at the peak of physical fitness. If I was a manager and a player of mine was smoking he'd be out on his ass. They have a responsibility to the clubs who pay their wages to be act professionally and maintain fitness even when on holiday. Plenty of time for relaxing and partying when he's a retired multi millionaire. The fact that this isn't his first misdemeanour makes it worse. It shows a lack of commitment and attitude problem and maybe a contributing factor as to why he hasn't progressed as much as he should have. Guest Boyo
The Premier League 2014/15 Got to agree with Ciaran and Magic ref: Wilshere. Whilst a ciggie here n there is probably harmless, he still shouldn't be such an idiot. For crying out loud, I'd go straight edge, paleo and vegan for a chance to play in the Premier League. Cheers! He smokes, drinks and has any fun ever and he's in the Premier League. You're saying that like "Oh man, if he cuts this out, he could be a footballer", well he is one, he won, it's over, he's the winner of the being a footballer game. It doesn't matter what you'd do, he does what he does, and it's got him where he wants to be. It's the summer, there's no football going on right now. I don't think socially smoking on his holiday is suddenly going to make his lungs explode into a shower of cancerous offal. Should we even bother listing the other smoking footballers? Ashley Cole? Lionel Messi? Zinedine Zidane? Wayne Rooney? Mesut Ozil? Yeah, remember how casual smoking on holiday ruined all their careers and fitness levels? As for the "setting a good example", Jesus f*cking Christ. A legal cigarette, smoked legally, by a man, heaven forfend. How about the biggest cup competition in English football being sponsored by the largest alcohol producing company on Earth for a good example. lawrence619 13
I couldn't care less if he smokes or not. However I think he's a been a bit stupid here. He must remember the backlash from last time, and with all the long lens cameras lurking these days he must've known there was a good chance he would get photographed. Wow, you've construed an awful lot of rant from someone who's not exactly bothered that a player has smoked a cigarette. He can do whatever the hell he wants, for all I care. He's still an idiot though, insomuch that if I were a Premier League footballer, even if I was desperate for a ciggie, I wouldn't bother. Quiet life if nothing else. Cheers! I honestly have no Earthly idea what that even means. You also assume all that was directed entirely at you, and a combination of your post, and the other posts before yours that were directly related to what I was saying. etz 78
What a load of bullshit this hooha is, he's a damn adult, he can smoke if he chooses. If it affects his performance, he'll suffer for it. The problem is the mindless idolising of people who kick a ball for a living, and frankly kids who take up smoking because some footballer smokes, well they deserve anything they get as a result.
