so i went to a house show a couple weeks ago, and Sandow was there. nothing goofy, just his pink trunks being the arrogant heel "savior of the masses" he insulted us etc and made me realize how much i miss that gimmick and how much of a fan i was becoming of his before he started doing all stupid crap he's been doing. how do you go from mr money in the bank, to losing to super cena, to dressing like a fool every monday...i don't get it.

There's no way he didn't massive piss someone off. Wrestling is notoriously one of the pettiest industries in the world, and the whole tone of his current gimmick has an air of Dusty Rhodes' polka-dots to it.

I'm not sure with Sandow's case. He "invaded" the Pre-Show and was playing the disgruntled guy for two weeks and now he's coming out in costumes. Question is, if he did piss someone off, when did he do it? Before this thing or between disgruntled Sandow and costume Sandow? Or do both angles connect somehow?

Sandow showed quite a bit of potential until he became the first person to fail a surprise cash in, since then he seems to have dropped off the radar a bit & his current gimmick is pure dogsh*t. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has p*ssed someone off.

I was really hoping they went somewhere with his disgruntled employee gimmick because that fit him nicely and got him a nice bit of attention, but they seem to have dropped that for reasons we don't know. His current thing is funny but there is no way he's going to be taken seriously as a wrestler. Does this new gimmick actually have a direction or is it purely for entertainment??

The original 'Pipebomb' from Sandow could have been the start of something new but the freshness of it has long gone. I expect him to be future endeavoured eventually

i don't see how getting as much tv time as he does, interacting with guest stars and such means he has pissed someone off...

they can't have EVERY wrestler going after titles, this is just another way to keep him on tv while he isn't one of the chosen few to be in the title picture.

And it's not like gimmicks nowadays mean anything in the long run, just look at IRON CLAD CONTRACT heel Big Show.

One week he was a mean bad guy, the next he was a crying good guy.

And then Kane is supposed to be a monster again shortly after being a corporate stooge.

So, Sandow doing this light-hearted stuff will not stop WWE using him in a more serious role in the future.

But gimmicks and characters should be central, things that are committed to and change when there's a genuine need in terms of the story-line that a wrestler's engaged in.

If that's not the case, then why is Super Cena still working the same gimmick after a decade?

If his gimmick doesn't mean anything in the long run, then why not say to hell with it and just turn him heel for a few months and then flip him back, as if it doesn't matter then the merchandise sales will just keep mounting up whilst he's breaking the rules and alienating the young fans, won't they?

You need to do a little research on the industry - this s a documented thing that happens, and often performers are given quite ridiculous stipulations to jump through, like hoops, until the golden quota is filled and they're miraculously given another shot at a direction...or fired.

Personally, Sandow rates about the same to me as Zak Ryder, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger...resounding meh's all around!

So because he is a comedy character he pissed someone off? Does that mean Santino pissed someone off?

There's a difference between being given a comedic/humiliating gimmick as a test of determination and ability to weather adversity and someone being saddled with one because they're pretty much good for nothing else.

Marella began as a supposedly genuine tough guy and everyman who was plucked from the crowd and won the IC title, but he foundered in the role and only became useful again when he'd gone from face to heel and then to comedy relief, where found his niche and stayed there for quite a few years, a fact that's proved by the fact WWE didn't fire him in all that time.

What Sandow's being put through now is more reminiscent of the period where Big Show was made to ape famous (or infamous) performers every week - remember "Showkishi"? - and I'd argue the fact that he's given the chance to work the mic whilst doing it and share the ring with celebrity guests like Hugh Jackman probably means that this is intended to test his mettle and see how much sh*t he'll eat before WWE decides what to do with him next.

Seriously, think of the number of times when someone the McMahons wanted to humiliate was ridiculed on screen and then buried with no chance to speak or defend themselves whatsoever; in comparison, Sandow's been given centre stage and a hell of a lot of lines in the production.
