What's wrong with me?

I haven't watched last Mondays RAW yet and due to time constraints I don't think I'm gonna get round to it, but here's the thing it just doesn't bother me that I will not see it.

I love wrestling, I've always loved it, right up until my early 20's (I'm 27 this year btw) I never missed anything to do with the WWE. It was such an escape for me and while I wouldn't consider myself an authority on the wider wrestling scene I've been watching long enough that I could hold my own.

But im not feeling it anymore, I read various websites for news and stuff and I'm fairly upto date on what's happening but I just can't bring myself to actually watch the programming as it's such a struggle to get through it.

What's happened to me? Am I just too old for their TV now? I still attend live events when they are over here and I really look forward to them coming up but I just can't watch the stuff they put on TV, I really want to like it and watch more of the programming but right now it's just not happening.

I fear my days of being a fan are fast ending and that makes me sad, anyone out there with encouraging words to keep going or am I too far gone?

Yours sincerely,

A jaded fan

I don't think its you mate, wrestling is in the pits and it has been for many years, i barely watch the stuff anymore even TNA, i tape TNA PPVs but never get around to watching it, wrestling peaked at 2000 for me which was the best year by far, its had its moments over the last 14 years with some great bits but for every great moment there was been 20 terrible ones

I think it's a combination of things, the fact is nothing is ever going to be as amazing as it was when you first got into wrestling and secondly eventually you end up seeing 99% of everything that can be done in wrestling. The thing that keeps wrestling alive as opposed to a TV show in the same position is that wrestling a) has a broad generally appeal (ie fake fighting is always pretty fun no matter the fashion of the times) and b) the fans get replaced by a younger generation. You got taken by your dad or older brother and then maybe take your kid or younger sibling and the cycle continues and for them it's all new.

The reason some people stick with it is that you find something "else" about the sport to get invested in, whether that's championing a particular style, wrestler, company etc or that you become more interested in the "story" of the real life company and all the backstage shenanigans.

I wouldn't worry about it, just go out and find girls instead. They're much more fun and generally less homo-erotic unless you're very unlucky.

About five or six years ago now I was in the exact same position as you are now, my interest in WWE was non-existent and TNA even more so. Everything that I saw failed to spark my interest and the only contact that I had with wrestling was reading Power Slam at the end of the month. I even said that I was bored of wrestling to all of the friends who secretly thought for years that it was a childish thing to be interested in beyond the age of twelve, much to their delight.

I left it alone for some time and then just started to drift back towards it slowly, my interest being helped by new talent in the WWE such as C M Punk, Ceasaro and The Shield, especially the latter, whom the WWE seemed to be booking with the care of a man carrying a blown egg through a minefield at the time. Then I saw a poster for a local promotion in my hometown, took a chance on it and had such a great night that I've been to every live show that I could make this year.

These days I drive my wife mad with talk of wrestling and have even convinced some of those doubting friends to come along to the local shows with me. So I'd suggest that you're just suffering from burn-out and apathy from too long exposed to the crap that the industry is all too capable of shovelling down your throat on a weekly basis.

Do as Omega says, wise man that he undoubtedly is, and get away from it for a while with some other interest or hobby. If you find yourself coming back to it naturally, then all well and good. But if not, then don't sh*t yourself about it, as it's only wrestling in the end and there are far more important things in life.

I don't even think its age, I'm 18 and I'm in the same position, I re-watch old school PPVs and things (which is why I'm desperate for the WWE Network in the UK) but I'm getting bored of the current product. I guess I've been slowly losing interest but last Mondays RAW was the first one I couldn't even watch in one sitting... I think we need new fueds and new talent otherwise its only going to get worse

Cheers guys :), don't get me wrong or anything it's not the only thing I've got goin it's just that I never really moved on from it like my friends did when we got older, I've thought about stepping away for a while but always feared I would miss some era defining moment and that it would be boom time again, doesn't seem at all likely though so a change would be nice, I don't watch it all that much now anyway but as I've said jus kept up to date with what's happening

I'm jus gettin old, it's shite haha :)

I'm in a similar boat, especially with regards to Raw and the inability to sit through it or get the motivation to watch it. I think it's predominantly a WWE thing though. I'm still way interested in the indie feds that I like, and I can't wait to go to a bunch of shows next month. It's not the idea and sport of pro-wrestling I'm losing interest in, its the WWE representation of it.

The WWE product sucks balls, that's all. We're not the problem, they are. :lol

I've actually been more interested in wrestling since January than I have been in a number of years. That's because I was only following the news and hadn't seen anything, then thought I'd give the rumble a shot cause it's normally worth watching, and boom, Bray vs Bryan, as well as The Shield.

Those guys alone got me interested again, but f**k me, do WWE just need to pull their heads out their asses and use their talent. Cena/Orton is so overdone, no one cares at this point. Bray, Bryan, Roman, Seth, Dean, Cesaro all should be in the title picture and would open up the available matches so damn much. Shit, even Sheamus, Christian, RVD, Rusev, Barrett (when he's back) make more interesting champions than CAW1 and CAW2, otherwise known as John and Randy.

Note, by interested, I mean I watch the PPV's on the WWE network. If I want to watch wrestling TV, I'll catch NXT on the network, which is about 100 million times more watchable than Raw. Also, 3 hours of Raw, and 2 of SD! are too long.

Nothing. Wrestling is just shit. You're fine.

This. Like seriously. I still cannot bring myself to watch any wrestling at all. Nothing. No NXT, no PWG, No Shitaralol, no NJPW, no shoot interviews, nothing. I even deleted all the wrestling pages from facebook. The only stuff I see on there is stuff friends post. I can't even look at Tiffany naked anymore and get excited... okay that's a lie, all the rest is true though.

Yeeeeep. Haven't watched any wrestling since Money In The Bank, and don't want to. I'm sure something will catch my imagination at some point, or I'll watch an indie, or even an old match or something, but, right now, nah.. There's a World Cup going on, the UFC still exists, it's baseball season, Carmelo's resigning for the Knicks, Chelsea bought a striker, and there's, like, a load of porn on online, seriously, a load, I'm good for things to impulse-watch out of habit.
