Ivan Rakitic signs for Barcelona for E20m, scuppering optimistic Liverpool fans everywhere.

 

Elsewhere, Sociedad's chairman has been quoted saying Carlos Vela is going back to Arsenal, although there's nothing (yet) on the Arsenal site.

I've been seeing Rakitic to Liverpool gossip for at least 6 months.

King this isn't even open to debate, just google "Liverpool Rakitic" for crying out loud. At the very least the paper gossip has been Liverpool monitoring Rakitic since November.

 

Pretty much every single headline about Barca signing Rakitic mentions that Barca beat Liverpool to his signature. You can't be that blind.

To be fair, Boyo's not entirely wrong. I looked Rakitic up on the Football Transfer League, which is a website that monitors transfer rumours, and, in December 2013, the Mail and the Express both said he was Liverpool bound. Obviously that doesn't mean they were really linked, but there was at least a rumour.

 

Of course, that said, the Express also said he was going to Man. United and Chelsea that same transfer window.

I think you're right about saying Liverpool and Rakitic were linked, but probably over-ephasising it.

Yeah Liverpool were linked with him, in the same way the everybody is linked with everybody else in a twitter and mass media filled world that is the 21st century. That doesn't mean he was every really likely to sign for them.

Stop. I don't have a Twitter, I don't read twits, I don't pore over cruddy gossipy click-baiting sites, I just get a daily fix from F365, who pool transfer gossip from the "credible" places like tabloids, broadsheets, SSN and Reuters.

 

Just, wow, just accept that I'm right and you're making yourself look like a dolt.

I have to admit that Googling "Liverpool Rakitic" has more specific news results than the other English teams. It's certainly more than Twitter rumours.

I never said he was REALLY linked with Liverpool, I said he's been in the transfer gossip pages, linking him with Liverpool, for the last 6 months.

 

You. Are. Wrong. Please stop disagreeing with unquestionable fact, and no more posts on exactly how "linked with Liverpool" Ivan Rakitic was in the national press. Just stop it.

Really? All I can say he was good.....then he went to Chelsea

 

Concerning Rakitic.....Liverpool finished 2nd, got back in the CL, Rodgers got hailed.....they got linked with everyone
