What is WWE doing with Damian Sandow?

Seriously, he had a rant a few weeks ago supposedly building him as a disgruntled guy in WWE, but now it seems like that's been ignored with all these random character changes... I'm finding him entertaining but I'm not entirely sure where WWE is going with this.. is it part of a new storyline or is Sandow forever banned to the jobber zone?

Well, if you find it entertaining, why not just enjoy it and not worry about where it is going? They can't push every wrestler to the top to challenge for titles all at the same time and they obviously like Sandow to be giving him regular TV time.

I'm pretty sure he's got a long career ahead of him (injuries permitting), so who knows what the future may bring. But personally, i don't mind if he isn't in any big feuds or going for titles, i enjoy what he's doing at the moment.

Since his début and even now I believe Sandow has massive potential as as WWE superstar. If it wasn't for John Cena's quick injury return last October and WWE's rushed unification title/feud then I believe Sandow could have had an okay 3/4 month reign as world heavyweight champion. WWE could have easily had him lose it at the Rumble to initiate the unification match at Wrestlemania.

Since he was slaughtered by Cena and WWE he's been on a downward spiral and now he nothing more than a comedy character, I too thought the 'pipebomb' promo was the start of something but obviously not

He's getting the kind of treatment generally reserved for people who done something to p*ss off somebody of some importance backstage. I'm not saying he has, but the booking is the general WWE "let's teach this f*cker a lesson" format.

I think the best thing is that Sandow seems to be enjoying himself and making these awful things being given to him entertaining. The whole Magneto thing with Hugh Jackman was waaaaay batter than it had any right to be, and even his interpretive dancing from Monday raised a chuckle from me while watching the clip on Youtube.

The guy's talented enough to turn this booking in his favour, so I'm guessing he's just looking to keep working with whatever they give him until this apparent punishment has ended. God knows what the poor guy's done though?

I really don't understand why they keep on pushing someone until they get over and then, for whatever reason, they cut their legs out from underneath them. Is it a sign that they don't think the wrestlers have performed as well as they wanted, perhaps? Or is it just to test their resolve and see whether they can hack it if they were given a sustained strong push in the future? This happened to Bryan when he was relegated into that weird angle with the Wyatt's, it happened to Ryback when he turned heel and has continued since then, it happened with Ziggler after they'd given him the title and has happened in the past with others like Ryder and Swagger. I don't understand what the reasoning behind it is at all, especially when the wrestlers are as over as Bryan, Ziggler or Ryback were.

The WWE don't help themselves at times. They should commit to a wrestlers push and then back them as strongly as they can, not stack the odds against them and if they fail, condemn for it.

That's exactly what I first though. It's Dusty Rhodes' polkadots.

Punk leaving, the Wyatts kinda dying, Cena still being hated, Warrior dying, losing 30% of the company's value in one day, the Network's a complete flop, 'Mania's buyrate was a relative stinker, Bryan's injured, Batista's gone again, Jim Ross is telling everyone how Vince shit his pants, Vince is being investigated for what is effectively fraud.

It must be a f*cking hoot working there right now.

Sandow is never going to be a main eventer I don't understand why people thought he would be. Really this guy could never be the man. Mid carder for life.

maybe, JUST MAYBE, he enjoys doing these comedy skits and actually wanted to do them?

That's kind of what I was getting at, the booking he's getting is as if he's being punished for something, but he's just thought "f*ck it" and made the best of a bad situation. You can tell he actually likes d*cking around and hamming it up in the fashion he has the past few weeks. If anything, it's the best thing for him to do, if he complained he'd just prolong his misery. He's taking the dross Creative are giving him and actually making it work in some capacity.

But having Sandown do comedy skits is a waste of time, we already have 3MB, Los Matadores, Santino, Ryder to do these spots. Sandown is talent being completely wasted at the moment

They could just be testing him. Like with Ryback when they had Tensai sandbag him to see how he would react. I swear I remember seeing something ages ago about Triple H liking him but it could be wrong. Maybe they're just seeing how he reacts for later?

but none of these are as liked as Sandow. Maybe they're trying to keep with the comedy guys but try and have one that isn't hated?

i don't see why every wrestler HAS to be super serious like everyone else.

Every wrestler doesn't have to be serious that's why we have who I mentioned but Sandow I believe could be a very good star if booked properly

i dont see a point in doing something to see how he reacts. hopeing it starts going the disgruntled employee route. if the shield are really breaking up i would like to see a new stable of sandow, ziggler and miz stateing that they are fed up being held back and are not takeing it anymore. it could help get them better tv time and a reason for ppv.

Miz reached his peak (luckily) at Wrestlemania 28 and there is no way he's getting to that level again in WWE, same goes for Dolph, his peak was the night after Wrestlemania 29. The way Dolph is booked now show's that the company has but given up on him

But Sandow gets a full televised entrance and gets time on the mic (with Hollywood A listers even), so he's way above guys like 3MB and Ryder in the pecking order. Those guys are just glorified punching bags at the moment and nothing else. I don't see Sandow's situation resembling theirs even slightly. It IS a push of sorts, just more geared towards the entertainment side of sports entertainment rather than the wrestling side. It doesn't seem like much of a punishment to me. I am a big fan of his, and I would be happy to see him do this for a while.

If he was being completely wasted, he wouldn't be on TV at all.

When I heard that WWE released 10 superstars, my 1st thought was "please not Sandow". The guy is such a quality talent!!

You can be wasted and still be on TV
If he was being completely wasted, he wouldn't be on TV.

Sure, he should have a better gimmick than he does, but he isn't being completely wasted as the gimmick he has just now is getting over to a degree and Sandow seems to be making the most of it.

At least there's the saving grace in the case of Sandow that he's proving that he can do something with all the horse manure they keep dumping on him, that he has some understanding of what makes an audience respond to him and plays up to it rather than being a muscle-bound bore the likes of Titus O'Neil.

It was interesting that there was a pretty enthusiastic chant of "Let's go Sandow" during his tag match alongside Fandango whilst he was working the interpretive dance gimmick the other week.

Is it possible that if they get it right, Sandow could become the first openly cerebral WWE character to actually get over and become popular, almost like a more intelligent and cutting Roddy Piper?
