Gambit Solo Movie?

DC

Recommended Posts

Well the next one will be X-Men: Apocalypse and it is going to be set in the 80s by all accounts. There are other spin-offs in the works, including a third stand-alone Wolverine movie, an X-Factor film and, finally (hopefully?), Deadpool.

I don't think Gambit is getting his own film; I'm sure it'll be more likely Channing Tatum plays him in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Depending on how successful Apocalypse is I'm sure he'll get his own film. Channing's a big name that sells movie tickets. That's probably why they cast him to begin with. Everything I've seen pointing to that is just rumor and speculation at this point but I guarantee Fox won't shy away from giving him his own movie if they think they can make a ton of money off of it.

This might sound like anti-Hollywood paranoia, but I genuinely feel that Gambit would never get a solo-movie because of his accent. They had a tough enough time with Wolverine being Canadian, and you could get f*cked if they were making him short. If Gambit gets his own movie, he'll be Reggie Blue, from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Either way, I'll watch it! I think Channing will be ok as Gambit. Plus with him as Gambit, My wife will actually go see the movie with me.

As hilarious as Channing Tatum's Creole accent will undoubtably be, I have no problem with him as a supporting character, because then they'll let him actually be Gambit, it's just as his own leading man, there's no way a major studio would let him be anything like his actual character. It's basically the same problem they have with Deadpool, he's a popular comic book character who doesn't fit the leading-man stereotype for a big budget-movie in any way, other than at least Gambit's handsome.

I dunno, I think Gambit has at least a decent backstory that has potential and I think for a lot of people he's one of the super cool X-men characters. Well, he's my favourite at least.

What if the X Men are in a battle and there's no .99 cent store around for Gambit to get stuff to throw? ....you... throw things...?

I was a massive Gambit mark for years after his first appearance. I loved the mystery behind the character and you were never really sure of his true intentions. It was cool when guys like Sabertooth would show up and tell him something like, aren't you tired of being on the side of angels now Remy, or something like that. It made you wonder if he had really given up his villainous ways.

His powers were awesome too. In one issue of Wolverine he charged Wolvie and sent him flying through a freaking roof to fight a bunch of ninjas and a bad ass cyborg lady. It was one of the coolest variations of the "ol' fastball special" I'd ever seen.

I like him in the comics, but there's just no way a major studio releases a big budget action movie with a French-speaking hero in America in 2014. They'd probably make him some Louisiana hick to get around it.

Is Vince Cassel French (or could at least pass for French :P)? I'd watch a Gambit movie but I think it'd work better as a weekly TV show. Just 1 series, 10 episodes.

And Cassel would be Gambit.

Cheers!

I think he's French, yeah, but he's not pretty enough for me. Gambit's supposed to be noticeably good looking.
