It could be a bit of a lifesaver. If you look back at Austin, an underdog baby face is always better as a challenger than a champion. The hardest part is always getting the title off them without them looking weak, so they can immediately chase it again. This surgery gives them the perfect out; they can take Bryan's title away without him losing, and he can get back to what he does best, which is chasing the title against the odds.

I think the question that really needs answering is what angle TNA are going to book to give Eric Young the time off for his neck surgery.

i don't think they'll vacate the titles any time soon but there will come a time where if he isn't returning, they'll need to give them to someone... a tournament would be good, but i reckon they should just straight up give the titles to Heath Slater

Word has it that the neck surgery is "minimally invasive" with some folks predicting he could be back in time for Payback. If that's the case then they should just keep the titles on him. It's gonna suck for the UK fans who bought tickets to see him, but if he needs surgery, then he needs to look after his health first.

 

On that note, I hope he doesn't try to rush back and end up doing himself more harm than good in the long run. Bryan should just take off however much time he needs, instead of trying to get himself back into full action too soon. But if they do keep the belts on him, you can bet a few folks around Titan Towers will be hassling him to get back in there sooner rather than later?

Well, no, because that's already happened, and the dude's going in for neck surgery so they had to be kinda careful about what could happen to him on the show.

 

I think I actually prefer them telling the truth. Word would've got out about him having the surgery anyways, so why not acknowledge it, get it out there, and then incorporate it into his story for his comeback?

it's been done with the IC Title but it's probably best to have an 8 Man tournament for the vacated title starting this Monday at The O2 and culminating at Payback!!
