Guest Ciaran The King
I think WWE did Ambrose a disservice in never giving him a decent US title feud, however the amount of amazingly good tag or 6 man matches outweigh the bad
dsrchris 190
I can't remember the last time a midcard title holder had a feud? It's not just Ambrose, anyone who holds those titles seemingly gets the same treatment.
Guest Magic
Yeah it's been one of my biggest pet peeves of the E for ages. The midcard titles should be focussed on and defended every Pay Per View. Hopefully they are stepping in the right direction now though with the IC tournament and Sheamus winning the US. Problem is the WWE have been so stop starty in the way they like to do things, so now it's hard to have faith that they won't forget about them again a month down the line. Evil Gringo 279
The last time I remember a feud over a midcard title was Daniel Bryan v The Miz over the US Title but really, it was just a cherry on top as they were already established as feuding due to their relationship as Pro and Rookie on NXT. I hope the tournament can spark up some more like in the IC belt but really what we need is a unification match between the US and IC champions and create one champion to spice up interest even further. Remember how fun it was when RVD when on a tour of the midcard champs back in the day and unified the IC, Euro and Hardcore titles? Granted all the WWE did then was give it to Kane and then unify it with the World Title when he feuded with HHH but for a while it meant something - now its just a badly utilised prop. BRM 220
Read this week that they're yet again considering merging the titles. Both titles are held by Europeans and they're touring Europe next week, could be a case of watch this space.
dsrchris 190
At this point, the best thing to do is merge the titles and at least attempt to make them desirable again. Now the main titles have been unified, they really need to try and return the midcard title(s) to where it was in the 80s and 90s (even the early 2000s). Guest Captin
I was talking to some folks the other day about this. Granted this was before the rumor of unification. With previous talks of turning Sheamus heel, giving him the US title and having him change it to the European title would be a great way to go about it. Have him throw the US belt down, denounce America, yadda yadda. Then get some American, Ziggler, Swagger, hell even Ryder. Anyone not being used much basically. Do the whole patriot act. Boom! You got a fued for a midcard title, Sheamus is turned and you give a chance for minor guys to be built up. Maybe even keep Sheamus champ for a while so you could get a few guys into the mix. Wishful thinking I know. I also I know this was part of that game mode in a previous WWE game with the United Kingdom and so on.
Guest fattyfudge
in my opinion, they need to make the midcard titles a big thing again, purely down to the fact that it would mean the title hunt/reign for the main one isn't overplayed or overstated. That is what happened for me with the whole Cena Vs. Orton Rivalry, where it got really drawn out and boring.. if we had some other interesting rivalries with the other titles going on i think it would be far more entertaining
etz 78
It's simple, the mid card titles should be one per show and defended on said show and alternate PPV's. Now the major titles are unified, you can have the second tier guys (Del Rio, Miz, Ziggler etc.) feuding over the mid-card title as a way to prove they should be considered for a shot at the main title. King 277
US title needs to go as that didn't mean anything since the WCW days.
Guest Jamster26
One mid-card title would be better, better to have one prestigious title than two titles which not allot of people care about.
Guest BeorimJ
I have a bit of the problem with unification, and that is because the IWC cries for every 2nd wrestler to get a title, but we only have 3 single men titles. If we merge these even further, there would be even less titles to give to all the deserving champions. So i think, keep those three, or maybe make it 4 with adding another "smaller" mid-card-title like the cruiserweight, and then make more feuds surrounding the titles. Unifying them in one hand, to make Seamus or Wade Barrett defend each title separately, that would be a good thing, to keep them busy, and maybe have two feuds going at the same time. Guest Ciaran The King
One unified mid card title makes the title and the mid card far more appealing, the title over time will become more appealing as as we get talented workers fighting for one title. If you unified the title US and IC title now you'd have mid carders such Barrett, Sheamus, Big E, Swagger, Dolph, Ambrose, Rollins, Reigns, Cody, Ryback, Kofi, Truth, Zayn, RVD, Christian and many more fighting for this prestigious title. dsrchris 190
What I'd like to see is them unify the midcard title, but then bring back something like King of the Ring, which they can also use to elevate a midcarder to the next level. That way you don't need everyone competing for the IC Title, you'd also have an annual storyline that you can use to settle feuds, start new ones, and give someone a rub for winning the tournament. Just have a couple of weeks of qualifying matches on Raw until we have a bracket of 8, then go back to having a King of the Ring PPV where the final 8 compete in a tournament to crown a new King. Guest Magic
Add another vote for King of the Ring to return from me. It gives them a perfect opportunity to use guys who are otherwise not really being used and advance storylines and midcarders. Tournaments in general are a good thing and I'd like to see more. It gives the idea that all the guys are really competing for this one special prize and therefore it must really mean something to win it, which can only be good for the title/winner. Have plenty of promos about why they want to win it and what it means, and then when someone does eventually win it they'll have a decent rub because they'll have beaten a truck load of hungry guys to the top. Guest Edgehead
I'm all for bringing back the KOTR, it was a great way of elevating guys to bigger things. I never really understood why they got rid of it
Guest Ciaran The King
The KOTR was a great concept, it was more or less a way of leaving behind the mid card for the main event
