Boyo
We all make big, bold statements that are quickly forgotten in the course of a season. But fear not, if someone makes a bold, blinkered, idiotic statement and you think it's hilariously moronic (or bold) enough to warrant inspection at the end of the season, then please collect them here. Boyo and BRM are, of course, totally not exempt from this. In a slight change to the regular "Big Statement Thread, I'm asking a few questions which everyone has to answer. So please answer these as well as submitting your Big Statements aboard the ROFLCOPTER. Remember, these are going to be for the entire season, so choose wisely... 1. What will be Man Utd's final league position? BRM - Gareth Bale will fire them to a final position of 2nd in The Premier League John Hancock - Second Inno - First Laffy - Fourth Magic - Third Ciaran - Fourth Boyo - Third King - Third Drake - Second Result? - Seventh Winner? - None 2. Who will finish the top scorer? BRM - Fernando Torres back to his enigmatic best John Hancock - Van Persie Inno - Van Persie Laffy - Van Persie Magic - Van Persie Ciaran - Soldado/Negredo (joint top scorers) Boyo - Van Persie King - Michu Drake - Van Persie Result? - Luis Suarez Winner? - None 3. Will this be the year Arsenal finish outside the Champions League places? BRM - They will tease us, Spurs and Liverpool fans will get excited but no John Hancock - Yes, Arsenal finish fifth and Tottenham take fourth. Arsenal put up a fight until the winter when injuries sink in and the squad is left dangerously dependent on younger players. Inno - Yes Laffy - No we will finish second after a bad start and giving all the fans heart attacks Arsenal will go on the rampage and finish second behind Chelsea Magic - Yes Ciaran - Yes Boyo - No King - Yes Drake - Yes Result? - Arsenal finished 4th Winner? - Boyo, Laffy and BRM all said Arsenal would get top 4. 4. Who will win the World Cup? BRM - A new power rises, Belgium of course John Hancock - Brazil return to the glory days and Neymar justifies the hype after a close final against Spain Inno - Brazil Laffy - Germany Magic - Germany Ciaran - Germany Boyo - Argentina. Messi will win it in the Maracana and will be crowned greatest player who's ever lived King - Argentina Drake - Brazil (vs Argentina in the final) Result? - Germany win the World Cup, and Laffy, Magic and Ciaran the King all called it. THE PREDICTIONS John Hancock West Ham finish in the top ten, as will Norwich Nooooo! Norwich were relegated and West Ham finished 13th At least one manager will be sacked before the end of 2013 Not the biggest of big statements, seeing as some poor bugger gets the chop after a few games every season, but you called it. Di Canio has been sacked by Sunderland. Extra kudos if a second goes by 2014. EDIT: Holloway's left Palace as well so I will grant you a half-kudos but he wasn't strictly sacked. EDIT EDIT: Martin Jol's been sacked too. Smash boom whallop. Old Johnny-boy's nailed this one, just like he nailed your mum. EDIT EDIT EDIT: And Steve Clarke's gone from West Brom. And AVB's gone from Spurs. EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT: And Malky Mackay has been sacked by Cardiff! Madness! Crystal Palace will finish bottom of the league Nope, Palace had a storming second half of the season, ending up finishing 11th Arsenal will buy the most players on deadline day, but they'll all be panic buys and will come to nothing Nooo! Arsenal spent the most on one player on deadline day, but it was Mesut Ozil and he was already leading the assists chart after his first three games. Chelsea won't buy anyone on deadline day, but they will sell or loan someone Boom! Bang on. Chelsea kept their wallet in their pocket and loaned out Moses and Lukaku. The Magic Everton will finish in the bottom half of the table Noo, Everton had a cracking season and finished top half. Hull and Crystal Palace will be 19th and 20th in no particular order Noooo! Darren Fletcher will retire this season Nope, no indications that Fletcher is going to retire. Boyo Swansea to finish higher than Spurs and Liverpool Noooooo!! Villa will get relegated Noooo, Villa were pretty turgid but they survived (this time!) Crowd violence will ruin the Welsh derby (the one in Cardiff) Thankfully no. I have family in Cardiff and whilst they say St Mary's St wasn't exactly a thriving sea of love, pretty much eveyone behaved themselves and the match went off without a hitch. Real Madrid's Gareth Bale to win the La Liga and Champions League double Argh! Real win the CL (and Copa Del Rey) but lost out on La Liga to Athletico. King Di Canio will be the first manager sacked in the Premier League King's smashed it here. Boom. Man Utd will sign Bale or Ronaldo Noooo!! Both play at Real Madrid. Villa will go down Nooooo, Villa stayed up Bale will be considered a flop in Real Madrid Erm, whilst it's fair to say I don't think the Spanish press have really taken to Baler, and whilst he hasn't falcon-punched teams aside a-la Messi or Ronaldo, he's definitely not flopped. He's got something like 18 goals and 16 assists? Nah, not a flop. Arsenal will finish 6th or below Haha, noooo, Arsenal nab fourth. Mata will leave Chelsea and go to Spain Noooooo! Juan Mata signs for Man Utd A player who doesn't play with either Chelsea/Spurs/Man City/Man Utd will get POTY. Yes, BOOM! Right on the money. Luis Suarez wins POTY. Cardiff will be next club to lose their manager. Nooooo! You made this prediction after Di Canio was the first, but Holloway was the second. There's an almost certain chance Cardiff will be the third to sack their manager though... EDIT: Yup, Mackay got the boot in the end. Poyet will keep Sunderland up. The Miracle at the Stadium of Light. Despite everything being stacked against them, Poyet did keep Sunderland in the Premier League. Drake Neymar will score more than 20 goals Nooo! He scored 13 goals in total for Barcelona this season Isco will have 10+ assist and will be the revelation of Europe, tearing everyone apart Nooooooo! Isco got 9 assists in total and subsequently missed out on the World Cup. Sergi Roberto will impress everyone and make them forget that their was an overrated **** named Thiago Alcantara Sorry Drakey-poos, Sergi Robert-who? :P Ciaran The King Arsene Wenger will get sacked or leave before the end of the season Nope, Arsene signed a new 3 year contract at Arsenal Ryan Spurs will sign Willian and (he and Gareth Bale) will tear sh*t up this season Yikes, Ryan's got this one well wrong :P. Tim Sherwood will be sacked before the end of the season Erm... yyyyyyyeessssss... I'm going to allow this one. Sherwood was sacked after the Premier League seasons ended but before the FA Cup Final, so Ryan gets the point. Inno Rangers will suffer an insolvency event this season, be it administration, liquidation or having to sell and lease back Ibrox to continue Nooo, it hasn't happened yet Jamster26 Daniel Sturridge will get 20+ goals this season Jammy - BOOM - nailed it. GENE Hearts to avoid relegation Sorry Mean Gene brother, Hearts went down :( BRM Rangers to score 100+ goals this season Boom! Rangers scored 106 goals this season Cheers! BRM
1. What will be Man Utd's final league position? Gareth Bale will fire them to a final position of 2nd in The Premier League 2. Who will finish the top scorer? Fernando Torres back to his enigmatic best. 3. Will this be the year Arsenal finish outside the Champions League places? They will tease us, Spurs and Liverpool fans will get excited but no. 4. Who will win the World Cup? A new power rises, Belgium of course
John Hancock
1 - Second 2 - Van Persie (Chelsea will win the league with their midfield, not their strikers) 3 - Yes, Arsenal finish fifth and Tottenham take fourth. Arsenal put up a fight until the winter when injuries sink in and the squad is left dangerously dependent on younger players. 4 - Brazil return to the glory days and Neymar justifies the hype after a close final against Spain. Germany, Argentina and England disappoint, France, Belgium and the Netherlands over-achieve. The USA also make it out of the group stages and, unless they draw a European opponent, make it through to the quarter finals. Other things; - West Ham finish in the top ten, as will Norwich. - At least one manager will be sacked before the end of 2013. - Crystal Palace will finish bottom of the league. - Arsenal will buy the most players on deadline day, but they're all be panic buys and will come to nothing. - Chelsea won't buy anyone on deadline day, but they will sell or loan someone. - No one will ever get used to Liverpool's away kits. Inno
1. What will be Man Utd's final league position? First 2. Who will finish the top scorer? van Persie 3. Will this be the year Arsenal finish outside the Champions League places? Yes 4. Who will win the World Cup? Brazil
Laffy
1. What will be Man Utd's final league position? Fourth 2. Who will finish the top scorer? van Persie 3. Will this be the year Arsenal finish outside the Champions League places? No we will finish second after a bad start and giving all the fans heart attacks Arsenal will go on the rampage and finish second behind Chelsea. 4. Who will win the World Cup? Germany, never count them out as they always pull out performances that go against current form or expectations.
Magic
1. What will be Man Utd's final league position? Third. 2. Who will finish the top scorer? Hmm. This is difficult. I think City might score the most goals, but it will be shared amongst their many talents without one specific player running riot, so I'll say Robin Van Persie. 3. Will this be the year Arsenal finish outside the Champions League places? Yes. Of course. 4. Who will win the World Cup? Germany.
Magic
Also, add for me; Everton will finish in the bottom half of the table. Hull and Crystal Palace will be 19th and 20th in no particular order.
Ciaran The King
1. Fourth 2.Soldado/Negredo 3.Yes, it has to be 4. Germany
Boyo
1. I think Man Utd are finishing 3rd this season. Chelsea and City will make the top 2, Chelsea should probably win it. Man Utd will draw a lot of games this season, I reckon. 2. It's hard to look past RVP for top goal scorer this season. The best striker in the league playing as the spearhead of a team who will always create plenty of chances. 3. Not this year. In fact I think Arsenal will be a comfortable fourth and a very close third. It's a big call to make but I think Liverpool and Spurs are losing Suarez & Bale, and I think Arsenal are going to get either Suarez or Rooney too. Spuds and Pool, I think, are going to be derailed this season. 4. Argentina. Messi will win it in the Maracana and will be crowned greatest player who's ever lived. As for my other "Big Statements": 1. Swansea to finish higher than Spurs and Liverpool 2. Villa will get relegated 3. Crowd violence will ruin the Welsh derby (the one in Cardiff) 4. Real Madrid's Gareth Bale to win the La Liga and Champions League double. Cheers!
Ciaran The King
As for my other "Big Statements": 1. Swansea to finish higher than Spurs and Liverpool Cheers! Really?
Boyo
I don't see why not. I think Swansea have the potential to be a devastating team going forwards. Ok, perhaps a bit ropey at the back at times, but overall I think they're going to kill people in this league. I'm not going to big statement this, but I think there's a chance they're going to humiliate Man Utd tonight. Cheers!
Ryan
Sky won't play an Arsenal match that isn't against United, City, Liverpool or Spurs this year.
bigmatt
Sky won't play an Arsenal match that isn't against United, City, Liverpool or Spurs this year. You're due to play Stoke at the Emirates on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday the 22nd September at 1:30pm. Then Swansea a week later and West Brom a fortnight after that. King
1. What will be Man Utd's final league position? 3rd 2. Who will finish the top scorer? Michu. 3. Will this be the year Arsenal finish outside the Champions League places? If they don't buy then yes. 4. Who will win the World Cup? I think Argentina. A few BIG STATEMENTS from me :) Di Canio will be the first manager sacked in the Premier League. Utd will make one big massive signing be it Bale or Ronaldo. Villa will go down.
dsrchris
As much as I'd love to see Villa tank again like they did last season, I just can't see it happening. If they'd lost Benteke during the summer, then yeah I'd be right along with you. But as much as it pains me to say it I can see them being comfortably mid table this season. Will this be the year Arsenal finish outside the Champions League places? Yes 4. Who will win the World Cup? B-B-B-B-B-B-RASIL! They will beat Argentina in the final and it will be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Neymar vs Messi. -Neymar will score more than 20 goals -Isco will have 10+ assist and will be the revelation of Europe, tearing everyone apart. -Sergi Roberto will impress everyone and make them forget that their was an overrated **** named Thiago Alcantara

Ryan
As my "Bale will stay" statement from last season could still happen, I'm going to combine it with this. Spurs will sign Willian and tear sh*t up this season.
Magic
This is coming from one of those Auntie's Cousin's Kitchen fitter stories, but I'm gonna go ahead and put my neck on the line and fire it in here. Darren Fletcher will retire this season.
