Guest Jamster26
What do people think CM Punk means, when he says that he wants "change?" Normally I wouldn’t ask this, as if it was anybody else, I’d say it was a WWE story script but I think this is how Punk really feels, given all of the stuff that has happened. Yeah, so basically what do you think Punk means by change? Is it the wrestlers? The management? Perhaps the mindset of something? And also, if you were CM Punk and you were campaigning for change within WWE. What would you change?
Guest Jimmy Redman
Basically everything that gets said on the internet on a regular basis. Its the mindset more than anything; more creative freedom, less samey scripting of guys, wins and losses and serious angles, let guys get over and reward them when they do, and not being preoccupied with the 'bodybuilder' archetype. Thats the impression I get, and some of those have been directly referenced on TV, but thats the general idea.
Guest Ciaran The King
As much as I like CM Punk and his character, you have to remember that in the end he's getting paid to say what he say's. Although everyone would like to think Punk is the rebel it's still scripted, and Punk is just part of the bigger picture. The only person to actually facilitate change would be Cena, if he started to complain and moan about the WWE and his career , then there would be changes. But let's not forget Cena is the complete company man.
Guest Jimmy Redman
Oh, of course its all part of the angle. But I still have no problem believing that Punk actually believes it all himself as well, which is probably the reason behind doing it like this in the first place. Guest Ciaran The King
I also believe what Punk is saying is his own true feelings on wrestling in 2011. If you listen to his interviews and other media appearances his feelings seem very genuine. The only problem with change is that you have to try and convert an audience that has been used to same old headline act's for years. Guest The GS
Punk was saying everything he's saying now back in 2010 on Cabana's podcast so all the criticisms he's making are from him, it's just that now he's been given the green-light to do it on live TV. Guest Ciaran The King
And does anyone see change coming soon?
Guest BratSan
And does anyone see change coming soon? As long as it doesn't hurt WWE business, YES.
Guest Ciaran The King
YES. From where?
dsrchris 190
Tag Teams, more Cruisers hinted at, guys like Daniel Bryan getting the MitB briefcase. There's lots of tiny things going on at the moment, rather than one all encompassing change. I kinda like it.
Guest Black Knight
I'm thinking he mean he wants change in WWE all around. I'm guessing he wants everyone to follow his role and speak their mind like he's been doing week in and week out.
Maxximus 353
He's also the patron saint of get rid of the scripts and let the wrestlers be who they want and make it or break it on their own. If you build it, they will come.
Guest Jimmy Redman
The funny thing about "death to EVIL SCRIPTING!" is that Punk and Hunter went out there with no script and had a rambling, circling, irrelevant conversation that pretty much went nowhere for 10 minutes before they went home. And it ended up fine, mainly because both guys are so good, but to be honest that segment was a pretty good argument for some scripting. And it ended up fine, mainly because both guys are so good, but to be honest that segment was a pretty good argument for some scripting. What annoyed me about that promo was that Hunter's spending 8 minutes telling Punk he needs to get voer with the crowd...while a fair portion of the crowd are happily wearing their Punk shirts and chanting CM Punk. Now if that was done intentionally to give the impression that the COO isn't actually listening to what the fans are saying, he's just saying that he is, then bravo, that worked well. The only problem is I don't think that was the intention at all. And you know what, it was actually Hunter who kept circling round and coming back to "yeah, but you need to get over with the fans". Well before he realised what the time was and started about how the match was now personal. And I cringed at the whole "not the COO, not HHH, not the Cerebral Assassin, quite frankly just a man who's gonna kick your ass." Man, HHH is cheesy as all hell. Guest Jamster26
You know, I love it when Triple H goes all deep voice, angry, up in your face, touch my nose like. Really badass.
Guest Ciaran The King
With a promo you need a start, middle and end and then fill in the blanks, Punk seems to be able to do this but Hunter looked as though he has been relying on scripts for years
Guest Jimmy Redman
Both Hunter and Punk were at fault, I dont think its fair on Hunter to say Punk was blameless. Punk's own points about bodybuilders or whatever went nowhere as well. And Hunter, as you say, spent 10 minutes saying "You just need to get over" like a moron, but at no point did Punk just shut him up by saying "Well, I did.." which is the obvious response. He just kept whinging about bodybuilders and sh*t. Neither guy was really listening to the other or building a conversation, they both just repeated their stock arguments over and over. It seemed more about winning a moral argument IRL defending their own position (Hunter as Vince proxy re: bodybuilders and pushing guys, Punk as the small indy darling worker who thinks he should be pushed) rather than worrying about the actual fans. Hunter getting angry and doing the "Not the COO" bit was one of the best parts of the whole thing.
Guest Suphix
HHH's "it's not about you it's about them" speech he said at least 3-4 times was so funny, he really did look cmpletely lost for most of it. If it wasn't punk stood opposite him and someone else instead that could have been terrible. Really admiring punks mic work right now

Guest Will O the Wisp
"..quite frankly just a man who's gonna kick your ass." Man, HHH is cheesy as all hell. "...kick your skinny, fat ass." if I remember correctly. :lol
Guest Jimmy Redman
He didnt use "skinny-fat" this time. Probably realised he didnt want people snickering when he delivered his hate-filled money line on the go-home.
