DC 536
I haven't seen any threads commenting on this, so I thought I'd start one off. Firstly, the academy is doing pretty well considering it is only six-weeks old, and Keith Myatt is a damn good trainer. I'm enjoying getting into the swing of things again after competing, but not having anywhere local to train for over two years. So far, for me, the highlight was on Sunday, as training was at the Doncaster Dome (since the ring was there for the two-show weekend) and the lighting rig and cameras were all set up. The highlight I was talking about though was at the end of training, when I was getting changed to head home, and two Pro-Wrestling Noah wrestlers (who had no clue who I was) came over and introduced themselves (Takeshi Rikio & Ippei Otta) in the most respectful manner I have ever seen. Pity about Darkside though...from what I heard (and bear in mind I only heard this, so there is no guarantee that it's true), he was really sh*tting on the trainees in the back. Here is some info on the training.... Location: Andy Crittenden’s Martial Arts Centre, Sandford Road, Balby. Head Trainers: Keith Myatt and Tommy Boyce. Select sessions will also involve guest trainers from the 1PW roster. Recent guest trainers include Ruffneck of Pain Inc, and Darren Burridge, the former 1PW Tag Team Champion. Seminars: 1PW events will also feature special academy seminars, taken by stars of 1PW. These are open to all, academy trainees or otherwise, and are often taken by over sea’s stars of 1PW. The last training seminar was based around promo work, character development, and working the crowd, and was hosted by one of 1PW’s best talkers, Sterling James Keenan. This session was part of the Know Your Enemy weekend, and was held at the Doncaster Dome on Saturday June 30th. There are many more seminars set for the future. Upcoming 1PW Academy sessions SATURDAY JULY 14TH SUNDAY JULY 22ND SATURDAY AUGUST 4TH SUNDAY AUGUST 12TH Sessions will continue on successive weekend’s. usually alternating between Saturday and Sunday’s. Dates will be updated when they are confirmed. Credit 1PW website for the training school details.
Red05 343
What are wrestlers generally like when training newbies? Are they like what i've read in articles, and watching stuff like Tough Enough etc, being quite mean and all "hardcore" and stuff? I wouldn't want to train if someone was going to scream in my face for not doing something right straight away. Did it say about costs anywhere? Just out of interest, i'm not actually considering travelling down to Donny and tilt-a-whirling Darkstar. :lol
Nimf 324
Think it's a tenner a session, Ray, which is pretty good I reckon!
Red05 343
Aye that's quite reasonable actually.
Paul 584
Its a damned good school, the only downside is the ammount of people means you dont get the best one on one training you could. Though Keith is an amazingly good trainer.

I wouldn't want to train if someone was going to scream in my face for not doing something right straight away.It is £10 per session, with the seminars being £20. As for the training itself, what you've heard (and seen on Tough Enough) did go on, but it's like when guys from Hogan's era would get their legs broken to see if they'd come back....it used to happen, but it doesn't now. If you do something wrong, then you'll be told/shown why and how to do it right. The main focus is to listen and take care of those you work with. Guest Saz
Keith, if I remember, is old school, so you'll definitely get a good grounding of the fundamentals with him.
Paul 584
Oh he very much is, and the guy is very approchable. Plus Tommy is a cool guy as well.

I wouldn't be able to comment on any allegend incidents as I wasn't there but knowing Darkside I find this quite a surprise to be honest. As a non-wrestler working for the same company (wZw) I have always find him to be friendly and respectful. You are honest enough to asmit it is hearsay, unlike most people who report every little thing as absolute fact so I'm obviously not having a go, just stating my opinion on the guy as I have found him personally I'm glad to hear things are going well at the school
Guest Trimmy
I'm really interested in coming to this sometime during the summer, how long are the sessions/seminars?
Paul 584
The training is (normally) 11-3. Cant speak for the seminars.

Maybe fame has gone to his head.:lol Compare it to how Lionheart acted on Sunday, all hugs and handshakes, asking how things have been and what I'm up to now. It was night and day. I personally never heard him say anything, so I can't say if he did or he didn't, but it's not the end of the world either way.
