Guest FreeSpirit
Preview: USA: Tuesday 3rd July on Sci Fi at 10/9c-LIVE UK: Friday 5th July on Sky Sports Xtra at 12am Heading Straightedge towards a collision 3rd July 2007 After being drafted to ECW in the WWE Supplemental Draft, Johnny Nitro knew that his A-lister status and pretty boy good looks would make him an immediate target. The bullseye on Nitro’s back has only widened since he became ECW World Champion. And he is clearly in CM Punk’s crosshairs as the Straightedge Superstar defeated Elijah Burke last week to officially become the No. 1 contender to the A-lister’s title. Will there be a confrontation between Nitro and Punk? What will both men do to gain an advantage in their rivalry over the ECW World Title? Tune in to ECW this week and find out. Last week, Matt Striker wanted "Rowdy" Roddy Piper to help him celebrate his birthday – and got a pie in his face and some worms courtesy of Boogeyman for his trouble. Will Striker seek revenge against the man from The Bottomless Pit? And will the mysterious, gyrating worm connoisseur continue to stir nightmares in the Land of the Extreme? ECW has been anticipating a reality check since The Miz was drafted to the Land of the Extreme. Will the former reality TV and SmackDown star finally make his anticipated in-ring ECW debut? You can see all this and more on ECW at Midnight on Sky Sports Xtra (after Thursday Night's encore showing of Raw). Don’t miss it![/Quote]
TPIB 62
I read (and assumed) that ECW is going to be taped on Monday in Dallas along with the RAW & SmackDown! SuperShow.

TPIB 62
ECW was 'meh' this week. Was it just me or did the ECW Song and the video that was put up for the intro not match up well? I mentioned it in the RAW thread, but Rick Achberger was at the Dallas tapings and during ECW, I found myself watching him more than the main event. I thought both of the PYP matches were good, even though I think the Punk/Thorn match was the best of the two (yes, there were only two matches). Between AM RAW and ECW, I could've skipped all the trouble I went through to watch Vengeance on the internet. Did anyone else hear the fan that yelled, "that was unneccesary" during the Punk/Thorn match? It was when Thorn rammed Punk into the security wall. ECW Overall- 5/10 On an amusing side-note, this has to be one of the funniest photos I've seen lately: http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/9409/anitrodreamer73yp7.jpg Smell It, You Know You Want To Edited July 4, 2007 by TPIB
Guest JC
The crowd was pretty decent this week. Punk/Thorn was very good with a nice finish. How anybody can claim Punk can't work is beyond me. Every fued he goes into recently automatically becomes the most interesting fued on the entire WWE Spectrum...
Guest FreeSpirit
What a terrible show: Only FOUR wrestlers on ECW this week (six if you include the Miz and Boogeyman adverts), and the Punk Vs Nitro match from Vengeance in full. Good decision to revert to the old ECW music as the intro though, as 'Let The Bodies Hit The Floor' isn't really appropriate at the moment. Guest Telf
I agree, it was a bit of a lack luster ECW in terms of content, but i understand that with Raw being shown live and Smackdown being taped all in the same night having a full card on ECW might have been a bit too much for the fans CM Punk i'd say about 75% does it for me in the main event scene, but Johnny Nitro with a world title just looks so out of place. I've said before that as a singles competitor he hasn't really stood out. There's nothing about him that makes me look forward to watching him

Guest Jimmy Redman
Aye but i'm guessing using the song "Bodies" was most likely thought to be a very bad idea... Damn shame, its the best possible ECW theme I can think of. The other ECW music they used this week is pitiful. They better get a better song pronto. Punk/Thorn was a very good match, the best Punk match in recent memory, and better than the opener. Punk/Nitro at Vengeance was ordinary, hopefully they have a better match at GAB. And hopefully they promo in the next two weeks. ECW Originals have really past their use by date with me. Sandman has gained a new lease of life on Raw, but Dreamer and Balls and Richards just suck. Striker and Boogey is an obvious feud to do, and it will be easy with the Boogey running in and feeding worms to Striker, or almost doing so. Striker the refined teacher should be good talking too. Guest Twig
I tried to watch it on this TVU Player thing, but I lost the sci-fi channel stream. :tdown better luck next week.

DC 536
Damn shame, its the best possible ECW theme I can think of.I'd much rather they used the actual original ECW theme music that they've got on file. Either that or go back to 'Thunderkiss '65' by White Zombie.

The song they used was that slow, stomping one they use as the other ECW song around the original ONSs, and as Heyman's entrance music too. Sucks as the intro theme though. Sucks as the intro theme though. The song that was featured on last week's ECW show wasn't the same as the one Heyman used as his entrance theme. Heyman used the original ECW theme when during that period.
Guest Slim Jim
It's the same song isn't it? Maybe with the Heyman voice over taken out.
DC 536
It's the same song isn't it? Maybe with the Heyman voice over taken out.Not even close to being the same song. The song Heyman used was called "This is Extreme" and was performed by Harry Slash & The Slashtones. I can't remember what the music was that linked the commercial breaks on ECW last week, but it wasn't that.

DC 536
I thought that was the song Jimmy was talking about. No, the song she was talking about was from a PPV earlier in the year, and was re-used instead of "Bodies". Maybe they'll keep it for this week's show too.
Guest Slim Jim
But wasn't she talking about the song they used for the opening video... which was Bodies until this week, where it was the old ECW song?
Guest Craig
No, the song she was talking about was from a PPV earlier in the year, and was re-used instead of "Bodies". Maybe they'll keep it for this week's show too. I assume you're talking about the show last week with Nitro vs Cena, and the song was "Famous" by Puddle of Mudd, used for One Night Stand. They only played it once or twice that night, I think when they were doing the outside the arena shot or something like that. They didn't have an opening that week either, just Vince explaining the Benoit situation.

TPIB 62
I don't know if this helps clear things up or not (or if I even know what I'm talking about). The theme used for this week's ECW (and probably for sometime, if not permanently) is the ECW Song/Paul Heyman's Theme. The Original ECW Theme had a Heyman voice-over that pretty much slowly spread out the ECW initials (IE: Extreme...............Championship............Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrestling). The ECW Theme (or as I call it, the New ECW Theme) is similar, but without the Heyman voice-over. Heyman used it for his entrance music and anytime a mass number of ECW stars came out (IE: WWE Vs. ECW Head-to-Head), it was used. The song "Bodies" by Disturbed (I think?) was used for the One Night Stand pay-per-view up until this past One Night Stand and after One Night Stand 2006 (when the ECW brand launched), they used the same song, but had a Heyman voice-over that was much more audible. However, upon Heyman's dismissal from the December To Dismember 2006 debacle before that week's ECW, WWE cut Heyman's voice out (which I wish they wouldn't have). Then on June 26'th, they used the ONS 2007 Theme that was mentioned (I thought it was the Vengeance theme, but be that as it may) and then on this week's (July 3'rd), they just played the New ECW Theme/Heyman's Theme. On a different note, I received the ONS 2007 DVD (which I haven't watched yet, keep an eye on my signature), the Netflix preview (on the pouch or on the website, it's the same) not only spelled out that it was under ECW Rules, but spelt out ECW as Extreme Wrestling Championship, which for those who didn't catch it, would make the initials EWC, not ECW. It also says something like, "See the brute strength and relentless assaults of the world's top extreme fighters". Somewhere, I think Netflix got WWE and UFC confused. It also briefly mentions RAW & SmackDown! being involved, but refers to it as a "colorful edition". Not to mention it says ECW One Night Stand 2007, instead of WWE ONS. A minor error, but to ECW fans, it's a bigger difference. Edited July 6, 2007 by TPIB

DC 536
No, I'm talking about the opening theme with the intro video from this week. It was Heyman's theme. I dont even know what you're talking about.Ahhhh. Y'see, we in the UK hadn't seen (legally) this week's edition, so we (or maybe just I) assumed you were talking about the song used for last week's edition. This week's show was pretty poor, with only two new matches and a dubbed-over match from Vengeance.
