KURT ANGLE BEATS BROCK LESNAR IN JAPAN FOR THE IWGP CHAMPIONSHIP

On Friday in Tokyo, Japan, TNA Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle defeated longtime rival Brock Lesnar for the IWGP Championship in a match for Antonio Inoki’s new IGF wrestling promotion.

TNA officials spoke by phone with Angle following the match, who had this to say:

 

“The IWGP Championship is the second title to add to my growing collection,” Angle said. On July 15 at Victory Road, I’m going to add a third title – the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Then after Victory Road, there will only be one more title for me to win – and that’s to take the X Championship from that fat slob Samoa Joe!”

 

Angle finished up by saying…

 

“It's real...it's damn real...thank you!"

 

Kurt Angle will be returning to the United States with both his TNA World Heavyweight Championship as well as the IWGP Championship.

Cena is better though. Angle has proven to be overrated garbage in TNA with all of one great match under his belt and no one actually caring about him anymore. Whether that is because Angle has deteriorated drastically over the years, the level of competition in TNA is utter tripe, or WWE simply made Angle look better than he is, Angle just isn't the guy he was in the WWE by a LONG stretch.

 

Plus, as stated, Inoki doesn't own the IWGP title and New Japan are launching a lawsuit against IGF because of this.

Who was going around telling people this was a 'fantastic' match? Stevie Wonder? I really didn't think any of their matches 4 years ago were particularly fantastic and I'm a humongously huge Brock Lesnar fan and this was like the 'Stars in their Eyes' version of those highly overrated matches. Lesnar didn't look particularly great in this but that was understandable and Angle is Angle.....

 

Also has the 'trading finishers-trading submissions-Ankle Lock reversal 8 million times' officially become the new 'Hulk Up-Big Boot-Leg Drop' or God forbid the 'Flying Forearm-Kip Up-moronic bouncing around-Superkick attempt' of the 21st century?

It does happen in every Angle match these days, but the sunset flip into the ankle lock was pretty cool.

The match itself wasn't anything too special, I'll agree with Naitch. Still enjoyable hearing how the Japanese audience react to Angle's spots. Was it just me or did the commentators start laughing when Angle threw the first "stomp" punch?
