Guest FreeSpirit
Preview: UK: Sky Sports 3 at 10pm USA: The CW at 8/7c The Ultimate Opportunity 29th June 2007 If the last SmackDown is any indication of things to come at Vengeance: Night of Champions, the third time may not be the charm for World Heavyweight Champion Edge. Batista capitalized when Edge left himself wide open for a spinebuster, notching the win for him & Ric Flair over Edge & Montel Vontavious Porter. Friday night truly belonged to Batista and his mentor, too. On Sunday, will Edge live up to his Ultimate Opportunist title, or does vengeance belong to The Animal? Will MVP be able to hold onto the United States Championship when he goes up against one of SmackDown’s recent draftees, the "Nature Boy?" SmackDown viewers also learned that along with DNA belonging to Mr. McMahon and his driver, the DNA of a "well-known personality" was discovered in the limo as well. Will we find out more about whose DNA that is? What developments will be revealed at Mr. McMahon's memorial service on a special three-hour edition of RAW? Chavo Guerrero showed no mercy for Shannon Moore as he picked up the win with Jamie Noble over Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang. Chavo proved he is prepared to put the Cruiserweight Championship on the line against the red hot Jimmy Wang Yang, but anything can happen at the Night of Champions. Will Yang lasso the title from Guerrero, or will the gold stay put on Sunday night? Also, Theodore Long asked Kristal the most important question of his life. Now that Kristal has accepted his proposal and he has a wedding on his mind, could Vickie Guerrero’s Assistant General Manager role grow? Find out the answers to all of these questions and more at Vengeance: Night of Champions on Sky Box Office, and on the next Friday Night SmackDown at 10pm on Sky Sports 3!
Paul 584
Spoilers from Wrestlezone: WWE SMACKDOWN TAING RESULTS - SPOILERS 06/27/2007 by Steve Carrier Credit: Ed in San Antonio and F4Wonline.com Dark Match: -Chuck Palumbo beat Kenny Doane. Decent heat, and the crowd got into it at the end. -Cole and JBL were booed. Smackdown: -Ric Flair and Carlito are having a match and getting a lot of time. Flair won with the figure four in a good match. Flair was on fire. -Edge vs. Big Dave will be the main event. -Matt Hardy vs. Lance Cade. Matt won with the twist of fate in a good match. -Chavo Guerrero vs. Jamie Noble vs. Funaki. Chavo is getting cheered loudly. He won with the Gori bomb in a good match. -They actually did an angle backstage with Vickie Guerrero. Something about how Dave vs. Edge was going to take place even though they were never supposed to wrestle again, but it wouldn't be a title match. -Deuce and Domino beat Cryme Tyme. Not horrible. Cryme Tyme stole the car afterwards and are going to strip it at the Briscoe Brothers' auto shop. -MVP cut a promo on Tony Parker of the Spurs. -Kane beat MVP with the chokeslam. All matches are getting time. -They did a skit with Great Khali and Eugene. Then they did another one that involved Vickie, I believe Mickie, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the fat oily guy. Basically a way to get Ron Simmons there to go, "DAMN!" -Mickey beat Victoria after missing a moonsault. Not bad. -Eugene vs. Great Khali. Khali won in a minute. -Batista beat Edge clean with the spear in a long match. Good stuff. -Almost all Benoit signs have been confiscated since the show began
TPIB 62
As I watched this week's SmackDown!, I was wondering, did WWE put these interpromotional matches on ECW and SmackDown! because they were originally going to take place on the 3-hour RAW? It sure seems that way. Anyways, a good SD! in my opinion, a major step-up from the recent SmackDown episodes. With the exception of Khali/Eugene, all good matches that were just about the right length. I personally loved the part backstage with Victoria and Mickie James, that was good stuff. Man, Mickie got a good pop on both of her appearances. Also, a good showing by Mickie in her match with Victoria. Matt Hardy and Lance Cade was also a good match, even though given they're heels, I expected Murdoch to accompany Cade. Still another stellar Matt Hardy match. The Triple Threat for the Cruiserweight Title was a decent match, but nothing outstanding. Of course no one expected a title change with the challengers being Noble and Funaki. I honestly would've liked to see Super Crazy thrown in the mix, just for the heck of it. Did anyone notice Chavo's red and black wristbands (or am I the only one with that kind of time/attention to detail?)? Perhaps one for Eddie and one for Benoit? Deuce & Domino Vs. Cryme Tyme was another all-around good match. Cryme Tyme also got a nice pop (maybe because no one was expecting them). The match was good and Cryme Tyme jacking Deuce & Domino's ride was classic (no pun intended). Cryme Tyme is just an entertaining tag team all-around, in my opinion. With Cade & Murdoch as World Tag Champions, I could see CT "stealing" the tag titles. Although a nice interpromotional feud with D&D isn't a bad idea at all. Speaking of tag teams, it looked like WWE has repackaged The Daltons as Jesse & Fester. Looks like a solid tag team to me. Granted, we haven't seem them wrestle yet. They look better than the Majors though. Kane and MVP was a nice little match. I would love to see Kane get a run at the U.S. Title and even win it, as I'm pretty sure he's never held that particular title (I know it's not the only one he hasn't held, but still). Edge and Batista was okay for me. Not as if it's a shocker to anyone here, but I imagine Batista will still get another shot at the title with Edge as champion. Although it wouldn't be a bad idea for the title to be stripped from Edge and/or vacated somehow and then have Edge and Batista run a program where Edge ultimately wins it back anyways and then Batista could challenge for it again as it's a different title reign. SmackDown! Overall- 7.5/
Guest Jimmy Redman
They did a skit with Great Khali and Eugene. Then they did another one that involved Vickie, I believe Mickie, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the fat oily guy. Basically a way to get Ron Simmons there to go, "DAMN!" Victoria, not Vickie Guerrero. Hence the following match had some sense to it. SD was decent, very strange with randoms there, but still good.
TPIB 62
Speaking of Eugene, has anyone else noticed that Eugene still wears those green-stained wrestling boots from over a year ago after DX slimed the Spirit Squad?
Guest Telf
Well i think WWE did a great job this week in getting back to business as usual Some great matches that were thoroughly entertaining
ViciousPrism 177
Speaking of Eugene, has anyone else noticed that Eugene still wears those green-stained wrestling boots from over a year ago after DX slimed the Spirit Squad? Yeah, I've read somewhere that it is a part of his gimmick. Or just a personal addition from Nick. The jacket and boots probably stink heavily now. Guest Adam Gill
An enjoyable episode of SmackDown, WWE did a good job of just "getting back to business" with this show. Ric Flair and Carlito had a better match than I was expecting, although it was nothing special. Matt Hardy once again showed that he just doesn't have bad singles matches these days. Kane beating MVP makes me a very happy camper. I enjoyed the Cruiserweight Triple Threat, the Cryme Tyme/Deuce & Domino skit was fun, as was the Mickie/Victoria/Ron Simmons skit. I really have been enjoying the Edge/Batista feud and I thought they had a good match in the main event this week. I'm interested to see where they go with it now seeing as how Batista can't recieve a title shot whilst Edge is champion. Good stuff. :)
DC 536
According to WWE.COM, Deuce suffered a broken nose and a possible broken orbital bone during the Smackdown! taping.
Murph 93
(IMO) That was one of the most boring editions of Smackdown! ever. Could they not for-tell (for-see) that they're going to run into this problem with Victoria-she has no opponents. Krystal hardly ever wrestles, and Jillian is heel, so who is she going to fight? And, who's going to get a shot at Edge? Please God no more loopholes (sp?) for Batista, but then that would only really leave Kane or Ric Flair, which is hardly anything to get excited about. Also, Jamie Noble is awesome, I hope he starts to get more to do.

Basically a way to get Ron Simmons there to go, "DAMN!"
It's a shame whoever wrote this report didn't expand more on exactly what happened, and get the all the characters involved in this segment correct. I found this to be one of the funniest backstage segments I've seen in weeks, Victoria and Mickie were absolutely brilliant in trying to prove who was "more wilder". A nice lighthearted segment that made me forget about the whole Benoit tragedy for a while.
