Guest Wolverine
From Meltzer: Royce Gracie tested positive for decadurabolin, a steroid also known as Nandralone, and has been suspended for one year by the California State Athletic Commission. The test was taken prior to his match with Kazushi Sakuraba on 6/2. No other details were available from the commission. The commission also revealed Sakuraba, Kim Min-soo and Brock Lesnar all tested negative for both steroids, diuretics, masking agents and street drugs from the same show. Unlike Nevada, where the decision of Gracie beating Sakuraba would be reversed with such a test, California's commission does not have the power to overturn a decision. Gracie was also fined $2,000. He will not be allowed to fight in any U.S. commission state until June 1, 2008, pending an appeal
Guest Jack
I'm quite dissapointed by this. Royce was a fighter who I always admired because of his ability to get past the size disadvantage and get to the very top. The man is possibly the greatest of all-time, and without doubt top 5 P4P, because he beat guys like Howard, Kimo, Severn - Even Akebono, despite being small. Will he have the same legacy? This was a career defining fight and the win, although not offically, is bogus. Shame.
Paul 584
Should be interesting how this pans out from Royce. Oh, does anyone know more about this steroid? Is it one normally used for healing stuff? Or primarily a muscle growth sportsy type one?

According to Wiki, it also adds muscle mass and is used by bodybuilders.
Paul 584
Hmm, well muscle mass obviously isnt that important to Royce, but the stamina thing for a guy his age is probably a big deal.

I wouldn't say Royce is anywhere near top 10 of all time, he did achieve a lot and possibly revolutionise fighting putting bjj mainstream, but the competition was one dimensional. Where he has had to fight modern and imo real MIXED martial arts fighters, he has lost. He is a huge icon don't get me wrong.
