vBookie Installed!

Recommended Posts

I've decided to try a new feature for the forums called vBookie! This is NOT a permanent part of the forums, so when the forums are upgraded in the future, it may no longer work. Its been made by someone in their freetime and is free so there are no guarantees they will continue to work on it to ensure it works with future releases of the forum software. I'm saying this now so you all dont get too attached :P

What is vBookie?

vBookie is a 'bookmakers' or betting extension to vBulletin. It enables authorised members (forum leaders and senior moderators) to post Events and Outcomes that forum members can bet on. Each Outcome has its own set of odds, and odds can be modified through the life of an Event (bets that are placed are stored with the prevailing odds, so even if the odds change, users are paid at the correct rate).

Once the results are known, events can be settled and forums members awarded their winnings.

vBookie uses its own vCash by default, but this has no more use than as 'bragging rights'.

ALL members start off with 500 in vCash (its listed under your location in your posts) and can bet on any betting threads created. Its all just for fun!

Any betting threads created will be listed on the vBookie page which is linked to on the top forum navigation bar.

Crap, I thought I had 500 to spend on that one bet. I didn't realise that's all my points used up.

I've shot my load too early. The story of my life. :(

I thought I used mine all up but now have 25 v cash (shi-wing) for some reason but I also thought I could use that up as it said the Tennis thing was a test thread??

Great idea though!!

Yeah i used my 500 credits up in 2 bets.

At least if Federer or Nadal win Wimbledon i'll get some return, and lets face it it's likely to happen.

EDIT-

Just noticed Wolvys been ever so dear and restarted the Wimbledon vbookie thingy.

Is there any way to disable having the cash levels in the postbits? i like the idea overall, but that bit's annoying.

What's annoying? The tiny weeny bit of text? :lol

If you want me to start something like this for your Raw betting league Kurtmark/Chachnian Rebel, then let me know, as to be honest I was at a loss as how to use V Bookie in the US/Spoiler Forum

OK I'll get on the case. Just PM me what options you want for next week's Raw, and I'll add them over the weekend to the Spoilers Forum.

Bollocks. In the TWOStars thread, I used my entire amount on one bet. I didn't realise it was for anything and everything.

Same here, but I'm feelin confident.

vBookie has a "Give to the Poor" setting which gives a set amount of points (25 currently) to any members who end up with 0 points whenever a new event is added to vBookie. So you should always be able to bet something....if it works :)

Is there any way the amount can be increased from say 500 to 5000 seeing as its going to be used across all forums? At least this way people wont run out of "cash" in a hurry.

Yeah true: But some of the bets aren't over till next month, and some members may run out of money to bet on things across the forum by then.
