Guest Nemesis Enforcer
- In the new History of Champions magazine, WWE points out a few wrestlers who they feel didn't deserve to be champ. Here's the feature: FIVE CHAMPS WHO DIDN'T DESERVE IT: Maven: The first Tough Enough winner was also a three-time Hardcore Champion. Folks, there was nothing hardcore about Maven. The Headbangers: Between the eras of The Smoking Gunns and the New Age Outlaws, these painted poseurs in kilts became champions by default. Oklahoma/Madusa: One was a tubby wannabe legend; the other a washed-up lady wrestler in chaps. Luckily, WCW went out of business soon after they traded the Cruiserweight Championship. David Arquette: Does it bother anyone that the star of Eight Legged Freaks is a former WCW World Champion? Hervina: Congratulations, Harvey Wippleman! You're the only man to hold the Women's Championship. Awesome. This is what WWE thinks but it got me thinking... is there any champs who you think didn't deserve their title run? Guest The Genetic Jackhammer
John Cena Cant say many people will agree with that. Rey Mysterio for me. Won the belt because of Eddie dying.
Guest Nemesis Enforcer
I will have to say - Chyna: There was no good reason at all for her getting an IC championship reign even if it was shared with Jericho!
Guest Danny Styles
Cena when he first won it, still was crap in the ring and cut his usual lame ass promos but since then he has add a few of HHH's title reigns too that list as well
Guest FreeSpirit
Rey Mysterio: Should never have won the World Heavyweight Title as it made a mockery of the belt. Regardless of how over he was or how much merch he sold, how someone so tiny can ever be considered a legitimate heavyweight Champion is absolutely ridiculous IMO. Guest dpddave
Hulk hogan...i mean whats he ever done for wrestling!!! :)
Guest Wolverine
That was a bit harsh on Maven. I always liked him. Eh, Marella hasn't really done anything to deserve the Intercontinental title.
Guest Redneck Messiah
Our current IC champ Santino Marella. I understand why they did it and I thought it was a smart way to get him over for his debut but......he disappeared for a week or two from tv and lost all his momentum. He's a lame champion at this point because he hasn't really been able to show what he can do and is way too new to be a champ. The Rock's first IC run when he was a babyface. He didn't deserve it back then and it's amazing to think how he started out with such a lame gimmick. Skip and Zip Tag Team titlles--Perhaps they did deserve it back then but I don't remember much from these guys and think I recall hating that they got the straps at the time. Steve McMichael's US title run--The guy was a hack in the ring but I understood why they gave him the title (he needed something to make him seem credible and you expect somebody in the 4 Horsemen to grab some sort of gold). David Arquette is a given. Horrible idea. I thought Jarrett shouldn't have won the WCW title in his first run with the title. Also thought Lashley is too green to be a champ but considering it's the diluted ECW championship I can give him a pass. John Cena's first run probably would rank on here as well. I can respect him now although I'm still not a huge fan but he didn't really deserve it yet at his first run. Oh yeah and Vince having the title is a joke expecially his last run (althogh again with a tarnished ECW brand championship). That is out of order to short people like me! :(
Guest dpddave
Duece and Domino with the tag titles.
Guest Gooneronastick
Can't believe Vince Russo hasnt been mentioned yet. Rates up there with David Arquette.
Guest Citizen Kane
Ron Killings, 2 time NWA World Champion. Good ol' TNA.
Guest Redneck Messiah
Can't believe Vince Russo hasnt been mentioned yet. Rates up there with David Arquette. I forgot all about that. I guess I tried to remove that one from my brain because of how horrible it was :lol That would be high on the list if not at the top. Guest Wolverine
Speaking of TNA, Abyss was world champion once. Ugh.
Guest FreeSpirit
I actually thought he was a deserved World Champion. I've always liked Abyss, just thought he was unappreciated by TNA until he was given his title run.
Guest The Great Ahmar
As mentioned Ron Killings title reigns were dumbass choices and he didn't deserve any of them. Jeff Jarrett's continuous winning of the title is on par with HHH's "Stroke" when it comes to winning to the belt. He won his most undeserving title on a freaking Canadian Independent show, Raven was a great champ for TNA at the time. Same for when he beat Rhino after two days with the belt. Santino Marella's IC title reign is up there too
Guest Wolverine
He's terrible. I can't think of anyone worse in TNA, and TNA has some dreadful wrestlers. Horrible offence, oversells to a shocking extent (he's a monster who pinballs about for X-Division wrestlers), looks incredibly awkward in the ring, uses thumbtacks in every single match, and his acting makes Ashley look like an Oscar winner. wyndorf 389
The Headbangers: Between the eras of The Smoking Gunns and the New Age Outlaws, these painted poseurs in kilts became champions by default. The Headbangers were a much better team than either of the two mentioned. The Smoking Gunns!? They were shite!
Guest DOB
John Cena Cena. Some people say John Cena being undeserving of the WWE title,at the time (April 2005) i would 100% agree that he didn't deserve it,there was probably at least 6 wrestlers on the roster that would have deserved it more. However now it is 2007 and John Cena deserves the WWE title probably more than anyone on the Raw roster, who's second name isn't Michaels, saying that he's undeserving of it now is very unfair. I also think Christain Cage didn't deserve his first NWA title run in TNA,he won it after what-6 months? Edited June 10, 2007 by DOB
Guest Nemesis Enforcer
People have not said he doesn't deserve it now in this thread All they have said is Cena didn't deserve it, now some may still say he doesn't but the idea of the thread is not who is undeserving now but who never deserved it when they won it
Guest BigAl
1.agree with cena when he started but now admittadly hes grown on me 2.although i never knew it happened and what title he won.... the thought of Russo holding a title is a joke(almost as bad as the fact that khali could hold it)
Guest mrkennedy
Umm Vince McMahon (ECW) and Shane McMahon (European) thats just stupid really. Hogan on WCW aswell.
Guest Reno
The only champs I can see that got the title undeservingly are; Rey (not because he was short though) and Cena. My second choice is a really on/off type guy for me. I mean, he has some pretty good matches but he has held the title for far too long. Joey Asbo 45
Stan "The Man" Stasiak and the dreaded heart punch. What was it? like 9 days with the belt! Wow. I know the objective was to get it back onto Sammartino but there were so many better monster heels around at the time to do it and keep the belt strong.
