Steph changing WWE.com

The latest sign in what insiders are seeing as Stephanie McMahon and Triple H running WWE as they see fit is in her recent takeover of the official WWE website. Not only has Stephanie taken over the talent side, but she is now overseeing WWE.com as well.

There is a major philosophical difference on how the site should be run between Shane McMahon and Stephanie & Triple H. Shane feels that pretending wrestling is real and not delivering real news, when wrestling websites such as rajah.com do, makes the site a laughing stock. On the otherhand, both Stephanie and Triple feel that the site should soley be for storyline advancement and to sell merchandise. But with Stephanie put in charge of overseeing the site, with Michael Cole running it, the Steph/Triple H vision has won out. The effects are already starting to sink in because you don't see as much shocking insider stuff on the site as much as you did in the past. A good example of this is that today, WWE is playing up RVD's possible departure from the company due to the second storyline concussion he suffered at last night's pay-per-view.

TV producer Kevin Dunn will be running the site from a business standpoint (setting the budget, hiring & firing workers), but Stephanie will be setting the creative & reporting direction of the site. She will throw anything out that may compromise the characters or storylines. Furthermore, Chris Chambers, who put up a lot of insider stuff on the site (like reporting when Stephanie had a baby and listing Triple H's real name), has been forced out of the company. You're not going to be seeing that type of stuff on WWE.com anymore. The baby announcement greatly upset the dynamic duo and his duties of running the website were subsequently taken away a few weeks later (March 2006). They kept him on the payroll for the better part of another year, but he has since been let go.

Furthermore, the feeling is that Stephanie & Shane will be publicly portrayed as a brother & sister duo running the company, but in actuality, Big Steph has all the power. Shane will be the McMahon who represents the company to the public and goes to business meetings. His strong suit is that he's very personable and he gets along with people quite well. Stephanie isn't bad at representing the company, Shane is better socially and Steph is more like Vince when it comes to business decisions.

I am not that interested with WWE.com myself as recently it has stopped with alot of news and just concentrates on what has happened on tv and it looks like that is here to stay now

"Stephanie and Triple H" :lol

That's stupid. Why add his name in there? And why is it a problem if it does go kayfabe? The whole article seems to be making a big deal out of nothing.

.....and what's with the "Big Steph has all the power" guff. I couldn't tell you 100% Dave Meltzer's 'style' but "Big Steph"?! Surely not.

Like I said in a thread a while ago, his name is put in stories that make internet favourites look bad. Say Chris Benoit was punished for stiffing a worker or something, Meltzer would probably write "Chris Benoit was fined two weeks wages for unprofessional behavior". Go onto a news site, and it'd read "Vince McMahon was going to let off Benoit, but Triple H wanted him fired. They came to an agreement, which is Benoit will be fined two weeks wages".

I honestly couldn't believe that when I read it :lol Meltzer is as professional as you get in his newsletter. Apart from the odd joke, everything is like you'd expect on a website like BBC.co.uk.

That "Big Steph" thing annoyed me, actually. It's pathetic.

And from all reports I've ever read, it seems that Stephanie is the better person for things like meetings, presentations etc., whereas Shane is man behind all that.

Pardon me for interupting Stephanie and Triple H's Kiss My Ass Club,

But do you people have any evidence that refutes what Meltzer says?

He is the most accurate Wrestling Journalist there is.

Now, that surely doesnt make him always right, but there usually is truth in most everything he says.

But since this mentions Triple H, Jack and Wyndorf pop out of the woodwork and start going at Meltzer.

Next we'll get the old "Slow News Day" routine.

Anyway, my personal reaction to this news, whether it be fact or fiction is that it seems like Steph is more business is business and Shane seems more personal and better at handling people.

Personally, I'd rather have Shane incharge over Steph. That's just my opinion.

Anyway, as for WWE.com staying kayfabe and being used for storylines and merchandise, I dont like the idea.

OR... they both said that doesn't sound like Meltzer, and you can't read.

WWE keeping kayfabe on their website is fine with me as long as they still have some of the more interesting insider stuff that doesn't out right say rasslin is fake or anything like that.

Its funny, because I was told recently that all parties had agreed that wwe.com would move more towards the Shane McMahon viewpoint as ordered by Vince himself, who would rather fans log on to wwe.com than other dirtsheets like the one reporting this story...

If Meltzer actually reported this, fair enough, but while these NEWZ~~! sites keep reporting biased propaganda, I'll keep saying how inaccurate they are.

My problem wasn't with what the oringial story was. Frankly, I couldn't care less about it. Who cares? I remember going on the old WWF site site, probably around 2000 every now and then, and the format has barely changed. The site won't change now either.

I just find it pathetic how these sites spread their nonsense. If it was directly from Meltzer, fair enough, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. It's these sh*te sites that are the problem.

I really hope that's true. I've always felt that WWE.com maintaing kayfabe is stupid. Hell, they don't bother at house shows (how many "undefeated streaks" are'nt? And Edge looked ok in Murdoch's trunks) so why on the website? Cause it'll drive away fans (read marks)?

Newsflash, mark's don't check websites! It's why they are marks. Those who do are smarks. Generalisation, yes, but broadly accurate.

Well actually looking at wwe.com and it is if anything becomming even more keyfabed,

In the past month or two alot of the 'news' has been dropped from it and really all you get now is recaps of Raw/ECW/Smackdown (depending what day of the week it is) where as upto about 2 months ago there was interviews and little bits of news

:lol Thanks for the name check.

As Slim pointed out I was more praising Meltzer than anything else. I just don't think he would write "Big Steph" it's just seems too idiotic.

And I think Jack pretty much summed up my thoughts on the inclusion of Triple H to the article.

I don't know Triple H and I don't have any personal "insider" links, but I'm willing to bet that Triple H couldn't give two hoots about wwe.com. I reckon that's just a valid a comment as.....

Anyway' date=' my personal reaction to this news, whether it be fact or fiction is that it seems like Steph is more business is business and Shane seems more personal and better at handling people.[/quote']

Anyhoo, I'm going off to join Jack again......in the woodwork :xyx
