Given the current "state" of Smackdown, missing its arguable main stars due to injury and idiocy....er...suspension, TERRIBLE booking of its champion and various other factors, im polling to see if Smackdown can be brought back from the brink? What does everyone think?

Yes, it can be saved... at least by the following

1) WWE have destroyed what ever chance they had of making Mysterio a credible champion over the last couple of weeks. Get the title off of him and put it on a fresh face - i.e. not JBL. Although i'm a fan of Mr Layfield, he's had a lengthy run with a major title

2) The sooner guys like Batista, Orton and Kennedy get back the better. Batista brings so much to the product from an entertainment standpoint, as does Kennedy. Orton, in my opinion, is the one guy in the WWE at present who has all the tools necessary to be the one for the future. His in ring psychology has improved dramatically and he's really getting to grips with how to work a WWE match. Randy needs to realise his own potential and must sort out his backstage issues otherwise it might all go to waste

3) Be very careful with the booking of Bobby Lashley. He has the makings to be something big. I think his feud with Finlay has really helped him move along. Certainly not the most convincing on the stick, but i think that can be worked on

4) Angle vs Benoit once more please. These two have had fantastic matches in the past. No reason not to turn Angle heel and work Benoit

5) Booker T, in the absence of Orton, is in my opinion Smackdown's best choice for a heel World Champion. Sharmell brings another dimension to the Bookerman which WWE have been capitalising on well

Great stuff Telf! Exactly what i was looking for! Im very meh at the moment, because they seem to be making the same mistakes over and over again, but i DO agree with Lashley. I felt EXACTY the same way about Brock too, and look what happened to him (before he disappeared up his own arse obviously).

I also agree about Lashley. I never liked him at first, and I'm still not a fan personally, but he has potential. He is lacking in the mic skills department, but I noticed from this weeks SD that they are giving him the right lines, just work on the delivery and hey presto.

You're right, SmackDown is the worst program on TV. I can't believe any of us watch it if we hate it so much. They should just get rid of it and fire every single member of it's crappy roster.

Oh wait I lied. They aren't going to get rid of it either.

I never bought into the whole Sd is better than Raw in the first place. Raw always entertained me more.

That aside I do enjoy SD and yes I do think it will get better again.

They key to making SD as good as Raw is more or less what Telf said.

I would add though that the cruisers really need to be pushed more.

I think they need to have at least one decent lengthed cruiser match a week. I think now Helms is back, they'll try and continue building the division as they started to do before he got injured.

It can definately be improved. There is a lot to be improved on that hasn't even been looked at properly yet. The Tag Team division needs to be sorted out, MNM and Kendrick and London are the only decent tag teams on smackdown even though kendrick and london probably belong in the cruiserweight division as a benefit. But as I just thought of the Cruiserweight Champion I forgot who it actually was, now I just remembered its Gregory Helms but why does he still have the title if I haven't seen him for weeks (unless he's back?) The cruiserweight division needs to be really sorted out as its going nowhere at all at the minute. But when Dave comes back and Angle is in a fit shape to Wrestle things will start picking up. Hopefully WWE will pick up on some of this.

Admittedly lastnight's Smackdown was awful (what's with all the squash matches recently??) but generally it has better wrestling than RAW so I'd give it a few more weeks before I started thinking it was in a really bad way.

i like the fact that london & kendrick are being used well. it's better now that super crazy, kid kash and helms are back on tv too but it won't last long. lashley is getting better every week and booker is showing his potential. i'm actually glad we don't have to see taker every week, but it's pathetic that he comes back just for a PPV.

i hate the way rey's bein booked, this whole JBL angle has been done before with eddie, gymini squashing people every week just sucks, seeing henry & khali demolish talented wrestlers like rey, crazy, nunz, birchall & kash is pointless. benoit's been off screen for a while, regal & birchall had good chemistry but they cut that. now it seems the whole orlando "do i like mens bits more than womens" jordan bisexual angle is coming in and involving vito too!! jillian hall against melina means nothing to me.

having the likes of regal, hardy, benoit, noble, psicosis on velocity every week is a waste. i'd love to see a tag feud with noble/kash against london/kendrick and the mexicools against MNM. a cruiser feud with helms and mikey batts or nunz. mikey batts was great on velocity against helms last week. maybe even put hardy back in that equation. i'd have rey beat JBL and face booker and drop to him setting up a booker batista feud. angle should turn heel and face benoit. orton needs to come back, batista and kennedy on the way back too will help.summerslam on the smackdown side could be great, imagine

WWE Championship

Rey vs. Booker T

Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit

Tag Team Championship

MNM vs. London/Kendrick vs. Mexicools vs. Kash/Noble

Cruiserweight Championship

Helms vs. Hardy

Batista vs. Kennedy or King Lashley 'Heel turn may work out after beating booker'

As i have said in another thread since i started watching wrestling, which was around September time last year, i have enjoyed Smackdown! more than RAW but it has been in a rut lately.

The injuries to Ken Kennedy, Batista, and Kurt Angle, the tragedy what happened to Eddie Guerrero, Undertaker only working when he can be bothered along with the Randy Orton suspension have all caught up with the show in the past few weeks, in my opinion.

I'm sure it will improve once the injured guys return and if they move Mark Henry down the card.

I mean i doubt RAW would cope aswell as Smackdown! has if they lost Shawn Michaels, HHH, Cena (to a lesser degree), Edge, Rob Van Dam etc.

It was great before mania and is still ok

three main problems

pushing people like Khali who are a danger in the ring

booking rey as a **** champ

and the severly weakened main event scene

I don't watch Smackdown anymore, the reasons are : Mark Henry, Boogeyman, Michael Cole, Khali, Undertaker, Lashley, JBL. You would not believe how much I hate those people, I just can't watch.

Smackdown definitely isn't beyond help. I actually enjoy Smackdown except for guys like Mark Henry and The Great Khali. If Smackdown would get rid of those guys, it would be okay. When all their guys are healthy, they have Lashley, Kennedy, Burchill, Angle, Booker T, Batista, Orton, Finlay, Benoit, MNM, Matt Hardy, and many other great wrestlers. You can't tell me that Smackdown is beyond help with those names. They just need to use them instead of crap like Mark Henry and The Great Khali.

JBL is fantastic on the mic, and while lashley might be a bit green he has bags of potential. What are your reasons for hating them?

I can't speak for Dave but JBL is still bad in-ring and in my eyes he will always be that mid-carder that got pushed down our throat as a WWE Champion. So IMO he isn't worthy of being a Main Eventer, upper-mid carder yes but a ME no.

JBL is single handedly making Rey's title reign worth watching with his awesomeness on the mic. He manages to rip the hell out of his opponents while still putting them over in what he says. Pity about the bookers not doing the same.

Your right he's not ME material, but with all the injuries they have on SD he's the best they have to use at the moment. Surely you would rather see JBL in the ME than Henry.

I would prefer that both of them would be gone from the ME scene but if I had to choose between the two then yeah I would choose JBL. But that being said pickinh JBL over Henry isn't a nice compliment for JBL.
