Guest MrFill
Preview: When Friday Night SmackDown rolls into San Diego this week, it could be a hometown slaughter for World Champion Rey Mysterio. Last week, Rey said he would fight anyone at anytime; JBL took advantage of Rey’s words, making him a match against Mark Henry. After the World’s Strongest Man defeated and assaulted Mysterio, JBL continued to make Rey eat his words, making a match between Mysterio and The Great Khali for this week. A proud and fighting man, Rey Mysterio will not back down from his word, especially in front of his family and friends in San Diego. But with an opponent who is over seven feet tall and 420 pounds on the other side of the ring, there seems to be no way that Rey will leave the 619 intact. Also this week, Finlay will meet Bobby Lashley in a King of the Ring tournament semi-final match. The winner will move on to face Booker T in the finals at Judgment Day. Lashley took exception to Booker T’s words last week, telling the 5-time WCW Champion that he would defeat him. But first, Lashley must get by Finlay, a man he has never beaten. The two have built quite a rivalry in recent months; can Lashley finally overcome the fighting Irishman, or will Finlay punch his ticket to the finals? Spoilers are allowed in this thread. Guest Telf
Unfortunately I couldn't care less about Smackdown this coming week. Why? 1) Mysterio vs The Great Khali - Will be diabolical unless Khali utilises some decent offense other then a chop to the skull. The only thing i can see is Khali coming out looking strong and Mysterio looking extremely weak. Did anyone mention to the booking staff that Rey is supposed to be the Wolrd Heavyweight Champion? I don't see Khali being able to sell any of Rey's moves whatsoever, plus any offense Rey gets in will hold little to zero credibility. All of this after EVERY SINGLE PERSON i've seen post about Mysterio's title reign has said along the lines of "keep Rey Rey away from the big guys". WWE have ruined what little chance they even had in the first place of making Mysterio a credible champion I wouldn't even be interested if Taker makes an appearence, as it seems to happen every other week 2) Finlay vs Lashley - the outcome is far too obvious. A Lashley vs Booker final has been on the cards since that very first segment that opened with the Bookerman a few weeks back 3) No Batista, Angle or Orton
Guest rawiswar
It seems SmackDown! is in a bit of a rut at the moment with a lot of their best stars missing in action. No Angle, Batista, Orton, Kennedy. It seems at the moment all attention is on RAW, and SmackDown is just waiting for its 'draws' if you like, to come back. Then I would imagine things picking up again. Not only this, you have a lot of people unhappy with a 5,6 World Heavyweight Champion and generally rather boring writing from the creative team when it comes to SmackDown at the moment. Guest Nemesis Enforcer
Rey is not gonna look good at all against Khali simple as that, like Telf said what offence he can muster will look patetic against such a huge guy and Khali is in no way gonna be able sell it, I am shocked he can get in the ring without falling over he looks so out of place in a wrestling ring. I am disapointed with SD at the moment, if JBL comes out and does more of his over the top heel promo's it will perk my interest but only until he leaves the screen
TPIB 62
If I'm not mistaken, Rey is yet to retain his title by pin or submission. I know he's defended against Orton & Angle. The Angle/Rey match was declared a DQ win, but what about Orton? Wasn't it a No Contest or something?
Guest Sav
You are mistaken, Rey pinned Orton 1-2-3.
Guest Jung
Well if anyone doesn't believe Rey's getting booked horribly, I'm pretty sure jobbing to Great Khali (with one foot on his chest for the pin) and having no offence in doing so, pretty much confirms what an awful job they are doing with him. Guest Sav
I'm so ****ing angry with the WWE bookers right now. They're not doing Rey ANY favours at all, this is a friggin joke.
Guest Dave7g
WWE blatently copying the Sopranos is just sad... and very lazy. It's got me annoyed now.
Guest Telf
Here's credit to Wrestlezone.com SmackDown started with a JBL interview. He ran down Latinos and said after Judgment Day Rey & his family can work for him with Rey mowing the grass, his wife cooking his food & his children shining his shoes. He said if Rey didn't want to work for him then he could sell drugs or work at the donkey show in Tijuana.Rey attacked him and ran him off Kurt Angle was shown arriving. He talked with Teddy Long in the back & Long made Henry vs. Angle for Judgment Day Super Crazy beat Nunzio & Kid Kash to become number 1 contender to the cruiserweight title in a good match. Gymini beat Tom Wellington & Joey Ryan Angle was shown leaving the building Booker T came out and said he didn't want to beat Angle by forfeit in KOR.He challenged Angle to came out but he never did since he'd already left and Booker & Sharmell celebrated. Lashley pinned Finlay to go to the finals of KOR This was a long match with Finlay mostly keeping Lashley on the mat with armbars and headlocks.Crowd started to get tired of it and were booing.Finish saw the ref distracted and Finlay used a chair but Lashley no sold it and hit the spear for the win. MNM came out and bragged about laying out London & Kendrick last week.Jillian Hall came out and challenged Melina to a fight.London and Kendrick came through the crowd and it ended with all 3 members of MNM in their underwear. Mark Henry pinned Paul Burchill in a match where Burchill got no offense. Nunzio and Vito were talking in the back and when Vito left Orlando Jordan told Nunzio that when they were in England OJ went to a club and saw a guy dressed in drag that looked exactly like Vito.Nunzio told him to back off. Great Khali squashed Rey Mysterio They did a stare down and the size difference was amazing.JBL was on commentary and was attacked again by Rey before the match.Rey's only offensive move was a springboard dropkick which Khali no sold.He ended up pinning Rey with one foot on his chest.Basically Rey was made out to look like a midget jobber. The crowd wasn't nearly as upset at Rey's treatment as I would of thought but I saw a lot of little kids lose interest and not pay attention to the dark match three way. After the match JBL got in Rey's face as he was down and commented that his family was watching from the front row and said that next week he wouldn't believe who he had to face. In a dark match Rey retained over Henry & JBL.JBL's body was noticeably softer than just last week.Rey hit the 619 on JBL and pinned him with a frog splash and celebrated a long time to end the show. Naitch 207
The booking of Rey Mysterio might well be the most horrendously awful booking of any Champion in history. Granted they can't make him a strong, dominant, overpowering babyface World Champion, but they should book him in such a way that he uses his size and speed to outsmart the bigger challengers. Make him a lot smarter than the heels, basically Diet Eddie Guerrero, a guy who is smaller than most challengers, but is able to use his brains to outsmart them and finds increasingly cunning ways of pulling out the victory. Making the babyface World friggin' Champion a lameduck, jobber is just so counterproductive I struggle to think of one good reason as to why anyone in the WWE would think it's a good idea. They should be feeding Rey good mid-upper midcard heels such as Henry and FINLAY not jobbing him out clean every week. Fine he will most probably beat JBL at Judgment Day after all this, but this whole 'lucky Champion living his dream' is helping no one. Guest horsemansmiler
Man o man are they killing mysterio. Hope its to have him beat JBL at Judgement day or then he will be a jobber and have no belt. The world title is being urinated on basically
Guest Danny Styles
WWE only have themselves to blame if Rey bombs as champ, this proves once again that WWE has a **** booknig squad, why job out your champion.. this week where the one move he gets is no sold but a overgrown moron, and the last week as well, Rey isn't huge but should be made to outsmart the taller guys like naitch said, but the way he is being booked is stupid and IMO proves that thew booknig team dont have a clue, shame they were doing well untill now and what happened to Burchill's push?? he's now jobber fodder for the world most boring wrestler
Guest Sav
After the match JBL got in Rey's face as he was down and commented that his family was watching from the front row and said that next week he wouldn't believe who he had to face. That's May 19th. They're going to feed Rey to the useless Kane. Unbelievable.

As for Rey's title reign well it's quite rediculous the way they are booking it. Miracle champion and all this, if they knew it was gonna be hard to sell him as champion why bother making him it in the first place. It's pretty **** I've got to say. Guest rawiswar
I thought it was a pretty entertaining SmackDown this week. JBL was the main attraction to be honest, his promos are just genius.
Guest Telf
I found the following rather entertaining... The producer gets on the blower to the production truck at the end of the Mysterio match and says... "Hey! Get those shots of the crowd! They can't believe what Khali just did to Rey!" To which the guy in the production truck replies... "Umm... Sure that's not just a look of disabelief that they paid their hard earnt money to see the World Champion squashed in our main event?" "No dammit! Khali is the future of the business! We must make him out to be a MONSTER~" God, i love how WWE think sometimes :roll
Guest Craig
What a hard fought, bloody battle by King Booker T. After that performance, he deserves to advance in the King of the Ring. Nice Angle Slam off the top rope through an announce table on Sharmell from Angle though. Hope she's ok.
Guest Jimmy Redman
The treatment of Rey is absolutely disgusting. I cant imagine exactly what Rey did to deserve this crap. As an aside, I think the OJ/Vito/drag stuff is putting wheels in motion for his bisexual angle. Dont think they've forgotten about it.... The upper midcard of Booker/Finlay/Lashley is really holding SD together right now.
Guest yoyo
SD was crap this week. The Rey thing really bothers me and when Khali pinned him I just threw my arms up in disbelief. Just absolutely pathetic booking. Awful. I feel bad for the fans that bought tickets to that show. That must have sucked. WWE really needs a draft this year for SD. Without Batista, Eddie, Angle, or Rey(and yes Rey counts because he isnt even pushed as a wrestler) SD is in need for main eventers. Let HBK or HHH got to SD to give it a little flave. And one other thing. I'm guessing Benoit was on Velocity which is also stupid. The best wrestler thats currently wrestling on SD is on Velocity? Thats smart. Guest The Great Ahmar
I decieded to watch and it wasn't AS bad as it seemed on the spoiler. Like the Finaly/Lashley match. Where is Benoit?
Guest Slim Jim
Benoit is on Velocity against Regal. A match that never fails to deliver. Nothing special this week, but no where near as bad as people always seem to deem it before they've even watch it, which annoys me alot. Naitch is right about what they should do with Rey, and Sav is right about Kane.
Nightfox 11
Not too bad a show, but still crap, Rey with a hat on looked silly
