Guest Craig
It's been becoming more and more common lately: heel starts to entertain, people cheer him, he turns face. John Cena (in 2003) and Triple H are 2 perfect examples. Ken Kennedy was getting cheered before he was injured. Before Carlito turned, he was getting cheered, same for Angle. Now sure, sometimes the heels do some things for the intention of being cheered, like Triple H, but what about the others? Cena, for example, would make fun of the crowd and his upcoming opponent, and yet, he would still be cheered for his raps. Angle bascially said he hates America, black people, and wanted to make Jesus tap out, and he was still cheered. My question is, if you were at a live event, and one of you favourites, that happened to be a heel, made you laugh, or entertained you in any way, would you cheer him or boo him? Personally, I would boo the guy. Take JBL for example. He's one of my favourites on SmackDown at the moment, and alot of the stuff he says is insulting the crowd in some way but that's what I like about him. He does it so well. But despite the fact that I like him, and what he just said entertained me, I'd boo hime, bcause that's what he's trying to get us to do. It just so happens that I like him because he said that. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense. I wasn't sure how to explain it, and I'm really, really tired at the moment. Anyway, what would you do? Ryan 188
I would definatly boo them, because thats ther job as a heel, to get boo'd, so why cheer hem if their surpose to be gettig boo'd, but inside it'd be cheering :) p.s i'd make exceptions for Mickie James :D
Guest MrFill
I don't follow the "cheer for faces, boo the heels" theory, I actually cheer whoever I like and boo whoever I think is rubbish, so Cena gets booed no matter how much of a face he is, and Kennedy gets cheered. Guest Danny Styles
i'd boo the heel normally, but there are people that i like so much i couldn't boo them, Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit are the ones.... but then again i was cheering ANYONE who hit Cena when i was at Raw but i usually cheer the face and boo the heel because that's kind of the point
Guest Breakdown
I cheer for my favourites, no matter if they are a face or a heel. Why would i want to cheer for geeks like Cena and Rey Mysterio who try and suck up to get cheers, when i can cheer asskickers like Triple H and Kurt Angle, who dont go out of their way to get the fans approval. Thats also a big part of why Triple H and Angle have been turned face. The faces who go all out looking for cheers, are normally the ones who get booed, and the heel who just goes out and kicks ass and doesnt give a crap what the fans think, gets cheered. The Icon 152
I havs seen HHH live several times, I cheer him as loud as I can.
Guest the HiTman
I would like it if it was still as it is supposed to be; the heel is booed and the face is cheered...but there hasn't been a decent face for ages so its quite natural too cheer heels. The Icon 152
Give me an edgy heel to cheer over a face any day. I cheer the heels in a lot of (although not all) matches.
Guest Drake
I really couldn't give a sh*t about the normal standards. I pay a ticket so I cheer and boo for whoever I want. I cheer the ones I like, heel or face, end of story.
The Icon 152
I will cheer Cena though.
Guest DOB
I've always cheered HHH and always will. Just like Fill said,i don't follow the "cheer the faces, boo the heels" routine,i cheer whoever entertains ME,if someone has talent and works their absolute best to entertain the fans then they deserve to be cheered-face or heel. Guest Craig
if someone has talent and works their absolute best to entertain the fans then they deserve to be cheered-face or heel. I completely disagree with that. The whole point of someone playing a heel is to draw boos. Eddie Guerrero put it best in his book when he said the boos and the Eddie sucks chant are the best sound in the world to him, because when he was playing a heel, that's what he was trying to get. The boos are like applause to a heel. Was he entertaining as a heel? Yes. Did he deserve to be booed? Hell yes.

Guest Craig
I meant appreciated :help We're not asking whether they should be appreciated or not. There's no doubt they should be. If they entertain you as a heel, then that's fine. But why cheer a guy that is doing things for you to boo him, and yet you still cheer him? That's not directly directed towards you, just to everyone as a whole. It's just something I've never understood. If they are a heel, and they try to get you to pop by using face tactics or whatever, then yeah, fine, cheer them. But if they are a heel, doing everything possible to get you to boo them, then why cheer them?
Guest Thirteen
If I like you I cheer for you, if I don't like you I don't. Simple as.
Guest Breakdown
If people cheered all the faces, and booed all the heels, we'd have been stuck with Rocky Maivia and The Ringmaster. Edited May 6, 2006 by Breakdown
Murph 93
I would just LOVE to see an "anti-crowd" at Deal or no Deal, or Who Wants to be a Millionaire, but in wrestling, there's only so long the heel can get cheered before the fans cheering the heel give up and realize that it isn't going their way. Guest Nemesis Enforcer
I'd probably laugh at, rarther then boo, the heel, esspecially JBL he is just hillarious :D As for the whole debate of what should be done, I agree with Fill here, people should boo who they feel they should boo and cheer who they feel should be cheered, not just because they are face or heel but its personal preferance if you like someone cheer if not boo simple
Guest Scottman22
I cheer for either face or heel it all depends on talent to me. If your a terrible wrestler but your a face I'll boo you. Your a heel but with good talent then I'll cheer you and vice versa.
Guest Russ
It's a moot point really. The individual cries of a handful of individuals is never going to drown out the sounds coming from the vast majority. For every person that wants to cheer JBL, you'll have a hundred people booing him. If you make a lot of noise for a wrestler, it's going to benefit the worker anyway because the management will see that the guy is capable of eliciting a response from the fans. It doesn't matter if it's a cheer or a boo in that respect, you're helping the wrestler's career. Unless of course it's overwhelming boos in the case of a face trying to please the fans, just like X Pac or John Cena. That's when the bookers should realise there's a fundamental flaw in the character that needs changing.
DC 536
I cheer who I want and I boo (although I don't think I have ever actually went "Booooo" to anyone.....now "Whooooooo" is a whole other story, but I digress)......... There are a few guys I will cheer, no matter what.......Mike Awesome, Rhino, Balls Mahoney, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Nova, Danny Doring and his partner Roadkill to name a few..........Rock and Austin to a degree will be in there too, as will Shane McMahon. It is down to your own opinions.....I know some people don't understand how I can be a mark for Mike Awesome.....but that is what makes pro-wrestling great....the fact that we can all find something that is 'for us'......our own litle thing. Something where we can go and think that it is our own corner of the wrestling world......that there is a secret that only you know.

Iwas always anti Hogan, but it had nothing to do with the man himself. I just like to make my own mind up about who should win what match. Guest Dickie Hyde
I dont follow the theory... I cheer Triple H regardless... I cheered him at the Wembley tapings along with everyone else, but I also cheered him at the Birmingham and Sheffield tapings.. on my own, or with very few people. Guest Gooneronastick
TBH, I used to buy into the "heel must be hated and face must be cheered" theory when I was like 10, however as I grew up and started to appreciate the wrestling skill and athletic ability of the guys (and in some cases girls) that entertained me in the ring, I would and still cheer for someone who is talented and does their best to entertain me and boo the guys that bore me to tears. Heel or face means not much to me anymore.
Guest Deviatic Trauma
I cheer for who i like and I jeer for who i dont like, I think since Kayfabe has long gone fans cheer for who they want whether they're face or heel. I wouldn't say the crowd is like a Japanese crowd because a lot of western crowds are very disrespectful.
