So...Finlay is Irish is he?

However, there is truth to the signing of Midwest mini wrestler Shortstack to come to Smackdown and play the leprechaun sidekick of Fit Finlay. Apparently Finlay's matches aren't nearly funny enough for some people's tastes.

What is it with Finlay and midgets?

actually its nice to see the Mcmahons with there Irish heritage having an Irish character, though why Finlay cant have Princess Paula as his manager i dont know, anyone know if there still together?

Why would you not get Leprechauns in Northern Ireland?

clear it up

England -English anglo saxon Norman/viking descent

Wales-British Celtic/Roman descent

Ireland-Celtic descent

Scottish-British Celtic/Pictish/Irish Celtic/Angle descent

hope that clears everything up or shall i plug my History forum :lol

It could work brilliantly in the short term. We all know Finlay can't stand midgets, but his new manager keeps convincing him that he's NOT a midget, he's actually a leprechaun. This goes on for a couple of weeks with Finlay's doubts growing, until one day he catches his manager without his hat on, and realises HE'S BEEN A MIDGET ALL ALONG! It could be the most jarring swerve since The Usual Suspects.

I'm sure WWE will treat this angle of a leprechaun with the respect and gravitas it deserves.

oh dear, WWE have a good wrerstler here, who is a good heel (i don't like him loads but he is good at what he does)

so know they are going to saddle him with a shitty sidekick (think Shelton Benjamin) who will hold him back more than anything

Man, the leprechaun hasn't even appeared on TV yet and people are already saying it's terrible and is harming FINLAY more than helping him. Gotta love the Internet.

The "internet" was right about Shelton Benjamin's "momma".

Nope. "They" said that it would ruin Shelton Benjamin's credibility and it did. Notice the way Shelton's suddenly more entertaining without a human blimp in a wheelchair following him around?

But it's a Leprachaun, a Leprachaun!! How in the hell is that doing anyone anygood. It's 2006 for christ sake, this gimmick wouldn't even sit well in the mid 80's.

Another damn fine reason not to watch Smackdown.

Shelton's character has changed since his 'momma' left though. It's not like he went from being a good athelete, to being a 'momma's boy', to being just a good athlete again. Since she left, he has become an arrogant heel, and he plays that part a lot better than he ever did when he as a face.

He went from a generic face (not necessarily a bad thing) to a laughing stock to an arrogant heel. Basically "momma" was the only serious black mark (no pun intended) on his gimmick.

God no not a Leprachaun!

The only good Leprachaun was Warwick Davis in the move's Leprachaun 1-5 :D

Isn't this a bit of a moot point? Finlay is an Irishman regardless of whether he's from the North or the South of Ireland. It's like saying I'm not an Englishman because I'm from the North of England not the South. If you ask any man from either Dublin or Belfast if they're Irish, they'd say yes in most cases.

As far the this leprechaun cobblers is concerned, how far do you think WWE will go with the Irish stereotyping? Isn't the shelalagh(sp?) and green clover on his attire enough to tell us he's Irish? I'm not sure how the little guy is going to help Finlay. Not sure it will work TBH.

No Thirteen,England never had Roman settlers

Rome conquered and ruled BRITAIN for near four hundred years

When the Romans left thats when the English(Saxons,Jutes,Angles,Frisians) came and settled here and it became England

detention for you sir !

I found this from Shortstack who apparently will be playing the Leprechaun

So, for those of you who didn't hear about it at all, Monday night I flew down to Cincinatti for Smackdown on Tuesday. They called me up and said that they wanted me to get an outfit/costume and we would go from there (practice promos, pre-tapes, pictures, etc.). I'm not going to go into everything like I have with others, but if you want to know just ask me and I'll tell ya. I get to the arena on Tuesday, eat quick, and immediately am called a "fatty" by Paul London. Anyways the day goes on, a bunch of us talk about a certain indy worker that people who don't even know him, know of him and don't like him, so that was fun. Then the good part...

Fit (Finlay) comes up to me and tell me to put my costume on, we are going to meet with Vince, and then do pictures. So I get dressed and we go into Vince's office. The first thing he says to me is "Wow, we definately need you on board with us." My heart just dropped. Now I was told I could get signed earlier in the day, but now this is coming from the boss himself, so I knew it was a for sure thing. Then he asks me "So are you opposed to cutting your hair?" I think my heart sank more on this question, than the previous. So sadly, I have to get rid of the long, golden locks of mine, and get a hair cut like Finlay's. Damn its going to be short.

So in the end, I'm going to be signing on with WWE next week officially. They are going to have a contract ready for me and we'll go from there. As I said before, it hasn't hit me quite yet, but I'm sure it will soon.

Thanks to all who have supported me once again

Didn't Mike Lockwood (Crash Holly) play a leprechaun once?

I'm sure WCW had him as part of the DoD.

He wrestled as "The Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady in APW (All Pro Wrestling).

You forgot to mention that in your attempt to display your infinite knowledge in your mini history lesson of the British Isles.

That's what I was on about, shame on you Sir!:xyx
