Guest TBEFan
There are some highly intelligent people here, (Or at least highly opinionated), and I'd like to know: Who will be the next World Champion (on either show) that has never won it before? Guys like Carlito, Masters, RVD and Lashley. For me, I have to put my money on Mr. Shelton Benjamin. He's easily my favorite 'blue chipper'. He can really go in the ring, has a good mix of mat wrestling and 'high-spots' and the title "Most athletic wrester in the WWE" isn't just a gimmick. Obviously, he need work on the mic, but he's not totally helpless on it. Who are your picks?
Guest Slim Jim
No chance of Shelton Benjamin being the world champ in the near future until he gets some charisma. I say bring back Momma as a mouthpiece (I'm being totally serial).
Guest Da Showstoppa
I'd hardly describe RVD as a Rookie, but in terms of winning the belt for the first time, then I gotta say Mr Money in the Bank. Mike
Guest MrFill
(I'm being totally serial). As in serial killer? I've mentioned this before, but do you remember when The Rock was Rocky Mavia? He sucked BIG TIME on the mic, having no real charisma. Then he went away, got some training and came back as the most charismatic guy in the WWE. If they can do that with Shelty, then he'd make an awesome Champ - the only problem is that World Champs are rarely "springy", with very few exceptions. HBK, Eddie and Rey (can't think of any others). So, I feel his chances are reduced a little because of his "stunts" in the ring - if he concentrated on his mat work, suplexing the hell out of people, then he'd have more of a chance. I think Lashley needs a charisma implant as well, because he tends to suck on the stick as well, but if he's given the right mouthpiece, then he could be the next monster in the Lesnar role. Guest Boyo
In my opinion, I think Lashley is going to be a champion come WM23. Shelton Benjamin and Ken Kennedy both have a great chance too. Other than that, I suppose if Gunner *whatever* gets a push he could do well. Cheers!
Guest The Great Ahmar
Lashley, Because he has the superstar look and is decent in the ring. Give this guy a manager or charsima training then he is something. Like others say about Shelton i agree. Carltio is a furture world champ in the making i think at keast. Guest Slim Jim
As in serial killer? You gotta see this week's South Park to understand.
Guest horsemansmiler
I think if lashley ups his game a little it could be lashley. Id rather see RVD win the strap though before we crown any new rookie champs. Let the deserved win the strap first. and contrary to many peoples beliefs RVD deserves the belt
Guest Dickie Hyde
This is an interesting post, and for the most part I would say RVD. He's the most unique superstar, and arguably (against Shelton Benjamin) the most talented. RVD should win the belt. Period. The money in the bank angle is a great chance for him to do so, and I just fear that the WWE will let that slip. As for Shelton Benjamin, I feel that he has a long way to go before becoming the World Champion. Charisma is right, he needs it, its there im sure, he just has to find it. Confidence in promos will do him good. If he's being compared to the early days of Rocky Mavia too, he cant have a bad future ahead of him, but then again, Rocky performed, so it's up to Shelton to do so as well. Also, I actually think Shelton Benjamin performs better in a face role, rather than a heel one. But that's just my personal opinion. Lashley is still green, as is Masters. Carlito is cruising along well, I enjoy his work and he's now gaining a nice fanbase since his face turn. I'm not sure he will fit into the title equation yet though, I see him as an upper-midcarder for some time yet. But Carlito as the WWE Champion, at some stage? Now that's cool :devil
wyndorf 389
Does Mr Kennedy not qualify as a 'rookie' cos' he's a 10 year pro? I can't see any other reason as to why only one person has given him a mention. Mr Kennedy will rise above all. Kennedy.
Guest Dickie Hyde
I hope he does, and I love Kennedy's mic work, but I fear that's all he will stay as, an entertainment factor. Dickie
Guest TBEFan
Anyone who has never won the strap qualifies. That's why I mentioned RVD as an example, even though he's not exactly a 'rookie'.
Guest FreeSpirit
Isn't a rookie someone who's been in the business less than a year? If that's the case the only one close to being Championship material is Lashley. I personally like the awesome physique and the soft spoken gimmick. The fans seem to genuinely like him, and if he picks up the intensity in the ring he can go very far IMO. The other obvious candidate is Mr Kennedy, but with him being out of action for so long some of that early momentum may have gone. He's a likeable guy, decent in the ring and funny though, so I dont see why he couldnt run with the ball either.
Guest Nemesis Enforcer
Ken Kennedy is the only guy I can see winning it on Smackdown, I think it will be battered back and forth on the old guard (as I refer to them - JBL, Taker and the like) then when he has more experiance Kennedy will take it. On Raw, RVD altho he isn't a rookie and I think Benjamin are the only real people who could take it, Carlito would be good but I think WWE will take their time with him and leave him just under main event for a good while beofre prmoting him
