Guest Dickie Hyde
This thread is not to discuss whether you think Rey Mysterio should be World Heavyweight Champion or not. He is the World Heavyweight Champion --- FACT. What I want to know is, your opinions on how he has been booked. The Ultimate Underdog --- Much like Cena was at Wrestlemania to Triple H, but Rey has been booked like this for EVERY match he has from now on, and it will remain that way. Is this the right thing to do or not? Smackdown's newest addition in Kristal (yum-yum :D) said it herself, "everybody is waiting for the day Rey Mysterio loses." And unfortunatley, as much as I know about wrestling and how its a work, I also think along them lines. How many of you do the same? When Rey Mysterio's reign finally ends, do you think we'll be seeing the strap back on him? Many have critisized Vince for only pushing big guys to the top and now that he's finally put Mysterio there, he's also being critisized, although it's extremely arguable it was for the sake of Eddie Guerrero's death, and only for that reason. One thing I found rather ironic (this is a statement, not a question) was the other day when I was watching the Wrestlemania XIX DVD, a PPV I thoroughly enjoyed. I saw that Rey Mysterio was first on the card, dropping the cruiserweight title to Matt Hardy. Kinda funny. Cheers, Dickie
Guest big pau hoolinator
I think they're going down the Cena route of Rey being an underdog every time..lok where that got them with Cena...
Guest GURRRRR
I think while he's the champ, whoever he faces, he will be the underdog. I dont think there is a chalenger for the world title that will meke it look like a 50/50. And i dont see Funaki or Jamie Noble getting a shot at Rey's title neither. So, whoever he faces in the heavyweight division is gonna make him look a dwarf
Guest Dickie Hyde
I think they're going down the Cena route of Rey being an underdog every time..lok where that got them with Cena... Yes, it got him a main-event win at Wrestlemania 22 for the WWE title over the best in the business today. Not bad I dont think? What i'm trying to say is, this IS how Rey has been booked. But should he have been? Shouldn't they have tried to showcase him like any other WWE champion? Just because he's small doesn't mean he cant wrestle and has a heck of a moveset. Why not put him over completely for that? My personal feelings are that booking him as the ultimate-underdog just simply makes it look like he's getting lucky everytime he wins. (Maybe like Cena but more so with Rey because he's so small) If they booked him on a level-pegging with Kurt Angle, just smaller with a different style, then surely we'd be able to take Rey more seriously as the World Champion? Dont get me wrong, it's bad enough that the fans dont take his World Championship regin seriously, but when they start broadcasting it on WWE programming, aren't they having problems? Your thoughts? Not bad I dont think?[/quote'] Big Slow didn't say look where it got Cena... but where it got them (WWE) by doing that, it got Cena booed every week by the fans that are meant to be cheering in (which is happening to Rey now) him is the point I think I don't think WWE is booking him right, if he must be champ, which he is, then they shouldn't be always on about him as the underdog, the fans know he is so there is no need for WWE to add to that too IMO

I dont like Rey Mysterio as the World Heavyweight Champion PERIOD, but he is, so do you feel he is being booked correctly? You think not and neither do i... anyone else care to share their insights? Murph 93
They should make him an un-defeatable giant.
Guest Sav
The way they've booked him is a disgrace. It's as if Mae Young won the belt the way they go on about him 'somehow surviving' Kurt Angle, as if hasn't beaten numerous main eventers before. Rey Mysterio deserves that belt more than anyone, this backlash against him is exactly what I expected from the typical size obsessed wrestling fans, the booking has just made it worse. Guest Dickie Hyde
Rey Mysterio may way deserve the belt more than most, he's a hell of a wrestler, and the booking is what makes it sad. The fact that he only got it due to Eddie's death, and the fact that they keep booking him as the ultimate-underdog. I fear that, unless this changes, it will bury Rey Mysterio back down to the bottom of the pool for good. And that will be a shame.
Guest Down In Albion
I don't really think it's to do with how Rey Mysterio has been booked, although by basically saying he isn't a worthy champion (without actually saying it) isn't helping. I just think a lot of the fans, know the main reason why he is champion ~ because of what happened to the late great Eddie Guerrero. And to be fair, Rey has been playing up to it A LOT. Look at Chris Benoit, who as far as i know was just as close to Eddie as Rey was, he hasn't got 'EG' taped on his arm, or came doing to the ring in Eddie's Low Rider whilst wearing one of his t-shirt or mentioning his name in all of his promo's in the run up to the title win and afterwards. Benoit has added the 'Three Amigos' to his moveset as his little tribute rather than ramming it down people's throats to a degree. Maybe a little harsh but i think that's the reason why Mysterio hasn't gone down well as World Heavyweight Champion.
Guest CoTT
It only makes sense to me that he's booked as an underdog because realistically, there's no other way to book him. When you put him up against a guy the size of JBL for a PPV match every mark out there will think Rey will get his ass kicked and that's what the bookers are going with. I don't think it's possible to make Mysterio look like he's a legitimate threat to JBL unless of course we see him pick up a pinfall victory over him on SD! in the upcoming few weeks. Guest Slim Jim
It's understandable having him booked as an underdog, but to say everytime they talk about him things like "he somehow managed to cling onto the title" when he kept it by DQ, makes him sound like a complete joke of a champion. Why should anyone care about Rey when they treat him like this.
Guest CoTT
They're looking for the sympathy vote. I guess they're backing the wrong horse. No wonder JBL's taking the title off him.
Guest The Great Ahmar
I don't think its they hate Rey like they do Cena, its more to the fact that they can't see him as World Champ and he is fighting the totally over Kurt Angle.

The WWE dont hate Cena, they love him! And if your on about the fans... ok, I see that. But what i'm saying is, even if the fans see it that way, the WWE should not be booking Rey in that way. It just makes him look like a joke, as said above.
