Dead Crow 370
Just found this on another forum, and decided to watch. It is, indeed, pretty interesting and I'm surprised that WWE let it go out. 5 Questions With The Champ Ok, fair play, he puts over Shelton Benjamin huge, but Question 3 asks about the diva search and Cena says he enjoys the entertainment, but after the six weeks it sucks because some woman who doesn't give a *brawler* about the business gets the shot when some talented developmental guys would kill for a night in the WWE. It surprises me that he'd say that, especially since WWE probably want all the boosts they can get to promote it. Not that I don't agree, but I wonder if it actually is his own opinion or if WWE.com are trying to push the "shoot" element more. Either way, thought it made for cool viewing. Guest SHEF
But she never even made it onto RAW because of the Diva Search? She never even made the Top 8?
Guest Russ
Just found this on another forum, and decided to watch. I think you're right when you mention the shoot element of the show. It's not the first time I've seen one of these webshows with Cena, and with the usual amounts of out-of-the-ring talk and swearing, albeit censored, it's clear they're going for a shoot interview vibe. There's also a part of me which thinks this is WWE's attempt to endear Cena to the smart fans. WWE know that a portion of their audience, those who prefer to see good wrestling rather than meandering segments which never seem to go anywhere, don't like the Diva Search. They also know that these are the same people who boo Cena. Having him embrace the same attitudes as his haters, I feel, is WWE's way of trying to make John Cena more desirable for the smart fans. WWE might be out of touch in some areas of what their audience wants to see, but they know for sure that the fans who tune in to see wrestling tend to hate the Diva Search. Does John Cena really feel this way about the segments? Of course, and they're exploiting his opinion. I get the feeling this could be a way of making Cena more likeable to smart fans. Of course, with Cena as their big money star these days, chances are if the Diva Search gets good ratings again, he'll have to appear in a segment with the girls. I'm sure he'll be delighted to do that.
Guest Al Stevens
I agree with Mr P on this Cena was very spot on with the comment. Yes at times the Diva search is good for drinks breaks and cigarette breaks however most of the women who end up being on there (please dont hang me on this one baring Christy Hemme. After all she actually wanted to hit the devolpments and improve before being Released) never wanted to be there. Also there are some good talent (by the fact there employed by the WWE family in the first place) in places like OVW ect and it must be annoying to watch some failed supermodels/porn actresses come to do a talent show and then get more TV time than they could ever dream. Guest CoTT
He's spot on with that comment' date=' Developmental people work their asses off to get to the big time in WWE whilst Diva Search women do F'all for a gaurentee'd spot on the main roster, i mean look at Candice Michelle, she didnt even win the damn thing and look where she's at.[/quote'] Candice Michelle is making money for WWE though. They get royalties and publicity off the Playboy spread which sold very well as all WWE diva spreads do and she also keeps sweaty teen boys watching for a few minutes longer. Guest TBEFan
I've always hated Cena, from the very first time I saw him. However, I love the 'Five Questions' segments and never miss one. The segments have actually made me change my opinion of the guy. I still don't want him as champ, but I sympathize. He seems like a humble, charismatic good ole boy with firmly held opinions. So while I don't want him as champ, I'd now like to see him in the Intercontinental division as a heel. I agree with Cena about the Diva Search. I like watching beautiful women, but I don't like watching beautiful women who have no IQ and know nothing of wrestling. It's a big money-maker, though, so I doubt it's going anywhere. Guest Nemesis Enforcer
I actually agree with Cena on the Diva Search, I have since the first one complained about the time it takes up and the places the 'winner' and just about every thother finalist gets on tv over the far more superia male workers who don't get a chance. It just supries me that Cena actually said it, it seems strange that WWE would allow something like that could be shown on wwe.com when the new one is comming on soon, it is hardly gonna get people wanting to watch and from reactions the audiance already don't really like these searchers
Guest Slim Jim
Maybe they think that because everyone is a Cena hater these days, that people will do the opposite of what he says. If he hates the Diva search, then everyone will watch.
