Guest Dickie Hyde
I was thinking about attending a PPV abroad later in the year, or maybe next year. (Not necessarily Wrestlemania) So I decided to use Backlash as an example to figure out pricing. I looked on ebay, ok a top ticket (good seat 3 rows ringside) was around $500, was over-priced, but hey if your gonna make a trip of it why not. Anyhow I then looked up flights for Kentucky on Expedia. From Sun 30/ Arrival to Mon 31/4 Departure, I was looking at £1000on average. What's up with that, and for flights alone? Where am I better off looking for cheap flights/hotels abroad for WWE events? Regards, Any info is fantastic, Dickie
Guest Inno
Check all of the airlines own websites... A good one to check that I use a lot for flights is: http://www.flights4less.co.uk/ As for hotels, try and find the tourist site or the site of the town/city where you're going, you can pick up good deals by booking through local sites rather than multinational places like Expedia. Guest MrFill
OK, the first problem with using Backlash as an example is that it's so close - you're looking at tickets which are "rare" at this point. If you really want to look at cheaper flights, then the sooner you can buy them, the better - but anything within 2 weeks is going to be hellishly expensive. Also, flying out on weekends is a premium - always fly mid-week if you can, the price drops for that. If you're intent on flying this close, then look on things like LastMinute, for example, I found a return flight for about £400 (on Delta). Guest FreeSpirit
Most airlines require a Saturday Night away on return tickets, except for Charter Airlines and Airlines that offer one way fares to North America like Aer Lingus. One of the cheapest PPVs that you'll find this year could be WWE Unforgiven in Toronto, as Canada is a hotbed for Charter Flights, and you'll find airlines like Air Transat and Zoom Airlines should offer you a good price on fares. But like Mr Fill said try avoiding travel on weekends or public holidays, as fares tend to be at a premium, and availability will be low. Good luck whatever you decide on doing though Dickie. Guest FreeSpirit
Not to mention that the Canadian Dollar has an insane exchange rate. Very True. Canada is sooo cheap its unreal. When I went a couple of years ago-it was like £1 = $2.20CDN and bought things much cheaper than expected.
Nightfox 11
Nightmare if I went abroad as I refuse to fly as I am scared of planes lol, but would jump on the Ferry no probs, would take 6 years to get there but I'll do it one day, I'd love to go to Mania one year. No matter how much it costs me.
Guest Dickie Hyde
Thanks for all the info, this is a great help. However avoiding the weekend is gonna be pretty hard when the PPV falls on a Sunday. (all of them!) I could fly out on a Thursday and head back on a Monday, but then it means i'd have to up my accomodation? Or is it worth it --- I.E = Cheaper than paying for a flight like that. Also, it might be worth your while staying until Wednesday, then you can catch RAW & SD.
Guest Dickie Hyde
Are RAW and SD always in the same city? I thought that was just for Wrestlemania week? Regards, Dickie
Guest FreeSpirit
Even during Wrestlemania week Raw and Smackdown weren't in the same city. If you look at my signature below, it shows that Raw was in Chicago along with Wrestlemania 22, but Smackdown was about 180 miles south east in a town called Peoria. If you want to do the Raw and Smackdown after a PPV, be prepared to travel anywhere between 30-300 miles. It is worth it at the end of the day IMO, but its entirely up to you Dickie. My suggestion is dont put yourself out if travel options to the arena's are awkward, or if its not within your budget. For a first timer a PPV only would probably be enough. Guest Dickie Hyde
I was looking at an example for Judgement Day... still close but hey better than nothing. Found a flight to Phoenix AZ, return for about £450. That's quite good really, it's just the hotels now... any recommendations for this? (btw im not going on the trip, just a nexample) Am i best pof using local websites for Phoenix as mentioned? Near the arena etc... When you go on a trip like this Good2Go, how much money in GBP on average do you take? if you dont mind me asking. (and by this i mena for flight, hotel, spending, pretending you've already bought your ticket) Regards, Dickie
Guest FreeSpirit
Depends Dickie, on where the PPV is, and for how long I go for. Can range from anything between £800 to £1,500 (thats including ticket prices).
Guest Dickie Hyde
That's quite cool then, £1500 max, I like it. You would recommend searching local websites for hotels?
