START > All Programs > Startup

have a look what's in there. Anything that starts up generally comes from there OR has an option to not start when windows is loaded. Look at what's running in the bottom right of the screen and right click the icons looking for any options or preference menus.

Course, I could be horribly wrong...

There is a thing in Windows that lets you disable them (The startup thing in the start menu is rubbish), but I can't remember how to get to it.

Google "Autostart and process viewer", a program I've got installed and is quite handy.

That would be this, click Start > Run and type in "msconfig". go to the Startup tab and that'll show you everything that runs on startup. Uncheck a box and that thing wont run on startup anymore. DO NOT uncheck anything you're not absolutely sure about. Doing so might cause all sorts of problems. If you don't feel comfortable changing these settings then dont.

I don't have anything from system32 loading on startup. Not by choice it's just theres nothing there. But yeh, wouldn't wanna mess about with stuff like that unless you know exactly what it is.

Do popups appear when you start the pc? Probably spyware if it does.
