Last SmackDown of 2005

December 30, 2005

The year is coming to a close, and what a year it's been for SmackDown. General Manager Theodore Long is sure to have a jam-packed show ready to close out 2005. What kind of surprises will the GM have in store?

Chris Benoit finally got a win under his belt at Armageddon in his Best of Seven Series against Booker T for the United States Championship. With the win, is the momentum starting to swing towards the Rabid Wolverine? Or will Booker be unaffected by the loss at Armageddon. This rivalry will surely continue to heat up on SmackDown.

Dark match:

-Aaron The Idol Stevens beat Scotty 2 Hotty - simple dark match. Stevens had two women, Shelley and Beth.

Velocity:

-Simon Dean beat Brian Kendrick. Said to be a pretty entertaining match.

Paul Burchill beat a local jobber. He did a move that was like a backwards Canadian Destroyer from the Flatliner promotion.

-Jamie Noble beat Paul London in a really good match.

-LOD beat Nunzio and Vito

Smackdown:

-Backstage segment with Booker T and Benoit and Booker T was in crutches. Booker was complaining that the series should end and he should win for having the higher score. Teddy Long says he has to forfeit the match and give Benoit the win. Booker then wanted a substitute, so Teddy Long said OK.

Matt Hardy beat JBL via countout when The Boogeyman came and stalked JBL and JBL ran through the crowd. This was said to be not a very good match.

-Mexicools beat the Dicks.

-Another video segment with Orlando Jordan volunteering to be the substitute, and Booker and Sharmell laughed at him, knowing that he'd tap to Benoit again. Orlando said he would remember that.

-Next was a press conference by Melina with a podium and fake reporters. She was upset about what happened with Batista and she was gonna sue for sexual harassment. It was said to be really dumb and went on way too long. It got the most heat of the night, but probably not for good reasons.

-Booker approached Randy Orton to be the substitute and end the year on a high note, and Orton agrees.

-Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton. Booker and Sharmell did commentary. Pretty long match and mostly scentific. Orton worked over Benoit's arm for most of the match. Benoit did the three amigos at one point. Benoit got Orton in the crossface, but then Sharmell hit Benoit with one of Booker's crutches, not realizing that she accidentally gave Benoit the win via DQ. Booker yelled at her after the match. Benoit was watching them, and then turned around into an RKO.

-WWE Cruiserweight champion Kid Kash had an interview segment with Funaki. Kash was asking Funaki if there were any American cruiserweights. He then bad mouthed Mexicans. Kash said he was the best cruiserweight champion ever. Kash attacked Funaki and gave him a brainbuster on the platform.

-Bobby Lashley beat Sylvan by countout when Sylvan ran off to protect his face. Lashley has pyro now.

- Video segment for the return of FIT FINLEY.

-The Main event was MNM regaining the tag titles from Batista and Rey Mysterio. MNM worked on Rey's knee most of the time. Batista got the hot tag and was about to win the match when Mark Henry attacked Batista and MNM got the pin. The show ended with Melina holding up Henry's arm.

-After the show, Batista and Mysterio did some poses.

Nice to see MNM regaining the Tag Team Belts. And Benoit vs Orton should be good.

Nice to see the C4 on WWE TV. Hopfully we'll see it on SmackDown!, which should give Regal and Burchill some added overness. London and Noble will be great, if they got enough time. If that was on SmackDown!, or a PPV, I'm pretty sure, it would be considered a MOTYC, so I don't want a 3 munite squash.

Mark Henry vs Batista will be horrendous on the downside of the show. Both crap gaingst other big men, but this will probably get twice the length of London/Noble.

Doesn't seem to be bad at all, I don't think.

Hmm, not a bad Smackdown. That press segment with Melina went on waaaaay to long and was just 9 minutes (there about) of the camera zooming into her face while she did her best to look upset. (The result of this unfortunately supports Mr Pefects Fish theory.) RKO V Benoit was a bit of good. Kid Kash got mic time?!! Bizarre, but even more bizarre is that his finisher is now a brainbuster, way to cultivate the talent WWE. And what did Kash say Juventud meant, I was hoping it would translate as Mexican shemale. MNM tag champs again, a step in the right direction at least.

He said it means 'Mexican Salamander'. I'm thrilled that he did get mic time though. Hopefully that means a push.

Benoit and Orton was a good match. Was it just me, or was Booker trying to sound more like a commentator than a guest-Superstar commentator? He was talking an AWFUL lot. But I love it how Sharmell interferes, and then 2 minutes later "That's Sharmell~!!!"

Line of the night: Orli and Book and Sharmell backstage.

"Sharmell you look gorgeous tonight, a real beauty..."

"I know that~!!!"

If Lashley is going to have pyro, he should at least time it right. That always annoys me.

Good news: MNM regain the tag titles.

Bad news: Mark Henry in a World Title program.

SmackDown was quite good. Benoit vs Randy was quite good as far as I could tell but I kept getting distracted by Booker T's commentary :(. I'll be looking forward to watching Velocity to see what all the fuss is about Paul Burchill.

Mark Henry's return, I did not see that one coming! That surprised the poop outta me!

An overly large paycheck' date=' from what I hear...[/quote']

Surprisingly, it's not a money thing. It's the fact he was signed to a 10 year contract back in 1996, and the WWE have regretted it ever since.

Allegedly all the Mae Young stuff, the sleeping with his sister and other Wrestlecrap he's been through was a way of trying to get him to leave the company.

what does everyone think about the boogeyman scaring jbl? i thought it was well funny!!!!! i want to see more of lashely though i thought that when he jumps on the top of the apron fireworks would go off just like lesnar used to do it would look good on him i want to see lashley wrestle a opponent for more than 5 minutes!!! apart from that smackdown was 6/10 and its good to see eddie being remembered every week with benoit using the 3 amigos on randy!! good show overall but no taker!!!

I guess Mark Henry likes being in storylines with older women and women inside his own family. Some people are just sick like that.

I think that the guaranteed contract probably convinced him to stay.

P.S.:

"A fan, a fan has jumped into the ring, and has hit Chris Benoit with something! There's a fan in the ring, they just hit Benoit!".

- Booker T, who will make a brilliant colour commentator when he retires.

Smackdown provided much entertainment this week. Hope to see Boogeyman wrestle a competitive match soon hopefully a match in which he sells. Although the charactor is interesting i'm gettting a little board with the lack of action. Papa Shango has been compared to Boogeyman, Shango was in the main a loser who sucked at everything apart from his entrance. I see Boogeyman going the same way. He is out of his league with JBL and i'm hoping JBL will clothesline Boogey straight back to hell. The novelty for me is wearing a bit thin and the worms are minging.

Anyone else think that Batista was going to be arrested in the ring for rape, leaving Ray to loose. What a moronic storyline. Instead we got that no talent bum Mark Henry sticking his nose where he doesn't belong. He looked fatter than ever and more likely than ever to blow up tying his shoelaces. Of all the wrestlers who could have had this opportunity, Henry would be bottom of my list. Give the beatdown to an up and comer, someone like Lashley, he's pushed to be the young powerfull up and comer. What can henry achieve now at this stage in his career?

Booker's been growing on me allot recently his comments on Orlando tapping were humourus and i enjoyed his commentary even if he did run out of steam at the end. I'm looking forward to seing Fit Finlay in a WWE ring but i wonder what shape he's in. Can anyone tell me how old he is? I'd like to see Regal, Finlay and Burchill in stable. Really enjoyed Orton V Benoit and for once i didn't care about the naff dq as the match was good. The booking helped protect some of the stars this week, a trend they should employ more, i mean why did Regal and Burchill have to job to Lashley, if they were given the same sort of protection Sylvan got then they might have a chance at being taken seriously.
