Edgemaster006
In my opnion, the best big man in the sport right now. He can FLY. But he hasn't really been getting any press lately. I think pushing him would do wonders for TNA. Maybe not now, but down the road. I think the main problem is that fans just haven't seen enough of him yet. Opinions? Russ
He has the worst punches I've seen since Sid, he looks like a cross between Test and a pornstar and the only reason he's over is because he goes drinking with the fans in the nearby bar. He's one of the major turn offs for me in TNA right now.

MrFill
I absolutely love when he gets on the turnbuckle and punches, everybody chants "Hoyt" along with every punch. :D
Russ
What's your source for all that? The drinking at the bar i mean. I've seen it noted plenty of places, even heard it refered to second hand from the TNA board itself where fans have talked about meeting him. It's a pretty common assumption that's held by quite a few people that after the shows Hoyt goes to the nearby bar and interacts with the fans who were just at the taping. Fair play, he's created a special bond with the fans and gets some decent pops and chants. But I still think that he's nothing special in the ring or on the mic, and when there's a lot of people competing for slots on TV time I think there are more deserving wrestler. Edgemaster006
...and his match with Abyss?
Dead Crow
Abyss is the best big man, IMO. Hoyt is just Test Jr (who, in turn, was Kevin Nash ~Jr - it's like a family of wrestling horrendousness).

He's just a lanky guy on steroids. I wouldn't even consider him a "big man" because he doesn't have the strength to throw around 270 pound men. He has the worst punches I've seen since Sid, he looks like a cross between Test and a pornstar and the only reason he's over is because he goes drinking with the fans in the nearby bar. He's one of the major turn offs for me in TNA right now. I agree with you there. I hate his attempted high-fly antics too. It just looks awkward and wrong. Dan
I think its hard to tell really, in the ring he's nothing special at all, not bad, but not great. I don't think he's overly charasmatic, yet he isn't too bad. The fans in Orlando seem to like him, but as Russ mentioned, thats probably because of his relationship to the fans outside of the ring & TNA product. Without straying off the subject too much, I think as much as the fans in Orlando are a positive for TNA, they are also a negative, because they are either made up of smarks, or people who don't even know what TNA is and just get in free. The fans to me seem to cheer/boo for people who may not get the same reaction if TNA went on the road, and this to me could cause TNA problems. Take Hoyt for example , he gets a good reaction in Oralndo, but I think if TNA were to take to the road, he'd be not well recieved, and this could give TNA management a misconception of who is over, and who isn't. Another example could be Jeff Hardy, he gets booed by the fans in Orlando some what, and I do think this is because of the fact alot of the fans are smarks, and like most of the TWO members don't like Hardy. But I'm pretty sure if TNA went on the road, alot of the casual fans, inparticular teenage fans would be drawn to Hardy. Edgemaster006
He's good size ol' boy but a big man is different from a monster. And i think that Abyss is booked MUCH heaver than he is.

MrFill
And how is a big man different than a monster? You just compared size to a gimmick They are different gimmicks. There are many guys who are booked as "big man" - look a Heidy. He's a "big man", but not a "monster". Abyss is a "monster", and borders on the "big man" as well. The Big Man gimmick tends to just do lame-ass power moves, like punch, kick, big boot, sidewalk slam, etc. Diesel was a Big Man, but wasn't really a Monster. Just booked as the "ultimate big man". Murph
At first, I thought Lance Hoyt was Test...of course now I know otherwise. He seems to me as more of a WWE character, you know, big (although he can show some athletisim (sp?) Anyway, he pre-showed Turning Point, so I think he won't be getting a big push for a while yet. *400th Post!!!*

Dead Crow
Ne' date=' he is definitley 300+[/quote'] I've been in the same room as Abyss, trust me he isn't. He is a big man though. Big men can be monsters too. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Vader, for example, was a big man and a monster. Nash was just a big man. Arguably, Goldberg was just a monster (monster, killer, whatever you'd want to call it).
Danny Styles
yuh he does look like Test granted.. but there is nohing wrong with the fdrinking with fans thing.. it's a nice thing to do and a good way to get over... personally he is growing on me... his ring work has improved.. and he is a good feature on TNA for midcard... It may well ge a good move with the fans in Orlando, but as I said, could give TNA a misconception of who is over, and who isn't. TNA's ultimate goal will be to go on the road, I think Hoyt may find it hard to drink with every group of fans he finds on the road just to get himself over. Sav
Of course Abyss is a big man wrestler, it's seems to be only you denying that. Are you denying it just so you can say Lance Hoyt is the 'best big man in the sport' when Abyss is leagues better than him?
