Guest Anime Otaku
*Smacks Daz about the head with a wet kipper* that should knock some sense into him. I have Mario sunshine and Mario Kart DD on the Gamecube they are both excellent which apart from the main character is about the only thing they have in common. Guest Daz
I know you're probably too busy with your two player games to worry about four player Mario Kart, or four player Mario Party, or four player Mario Tennis to worry about it though. Quake III Arena? Unreal Tournament? I dont think that these games are strictly two player, no thats right they're not. And what I meant by Mario tennis and kart and party being all the same is that they are all crap. Thats my opinion and I'm sticking with it. We each link different types of games, but saying that tennis, party driving game and general party games are crap is your choice - but you're basically saying that games that demand the people be beside you, rather than online kind of says something. :lol

Guest Jack
Most Nintendo only games arn't aimed at adults though, which is probably why they are so far behind xBox and PlayStation. The gaming world in 1990 was perfect for Nintendo, as it was a child only thing. in 2005, it's changed, and the majority of gamers are now adults/teenagers, and Nintendo don't cater for them, as much as the PS and xBox do. This may sound strage, but in terms of how in fashion they are, it's 1. PlayStation (It's a very cool gadget to have simply) 2. xBox (Most people know how powerful it is etc, but it's seen as the geeks choice, behind PC of course) and then you have 3. Nintendo (Good if your 7 year old) That's how people think on the whole. Nintendo is seen as jokey, so until they change their image, they will always sell less. Chris2K 176
I'd say Nintendo-only games are aimed at everyone, which seems more intelligent than aiming a game at people who can only buy it if they're over 18.
Guest Nicole
I just see Nintendo as the cartoon people. I couldnt play a nintendo game seriously. I'll stick to playing on the xbox 360 for adult games
Guest MrFill
Actually, I'd say that GameCube only games are aimed for parties, thus they're for getting people together. Super Smash Brothers Melee is a great little fighting game that is superb of upto 4 players. Super Monkey Ball 2 is fantastic for the mini-games. The Mario Party games are just mini-games. All of these are brilliant for parties, and thus groups of people. Look at the games that people rave about that are PS2 only: GTA series - single player. Gran Tourismo - a driving game, best as a single player. Eye Toy games are "gimmick" at best. SOCOM was the first real on-line game for the PS2 - they had to develop new hardware for it. The way I see it, a PS2 is for people with no friends, a GameCube is aimed for party games and a Xbox is aimed at big online multi-player games. wyndorf 389
So by some people's reckoning, Japan is 90% made up of 7 year olds. How else can we explain the DS owning the PSP?........and the fact that a Gamecube game is currently #1 in the official sales charts?
Chris2K 176
Nintendo do focus their energy mainly on Japan though, so the higher sales are to be expected. It does also help their innovations though, they come up with new things all the time because the Japanese are so technologically-minded. For example, the PSP is barely-innovative at all, it's a small PS2, or a small DVD player (both of which needs new discs, Sony really are marketing geniuses when it comes to raking in cash), whereas the DS has the touch-screen system that will no doubt be winging its way to a Sony console very soon. But having a mini-DVD player, and a largerer screen, not to mention a button that causes the screen to "wobble" because it's too close to it. Yup, that's innovative. Guest Nicole
The PSP looks nicer though. I didn't think the DS was impressive when I tried one, but when I saw the PSP I honestly considered buying my own.
Guest Anime Otaku
I've considered both though I will probably wait and see if and how they work with the home consoles before i decide if they are worth getting.
Chris2K 176
Another reason that people choose Sony over Nintendo is purely the "cool" factor. Everyone knows that having the right clothes, accessories and even game consoles is important among 11-18 year olds because of the way society has built itself around possessions rather than personalities. That's why your average 11-18 year old will buy a PS3 purely because their mates have rather than looking at gameplay. And it's why Sony's logo should incorporate some kind of sheep. Guest MrFill
Not forgetting the "Little Johnny" factor - Little Johnny down the street has one, so you just HAVE to get one. :P

Guest MojoPogo
I'll be getting all three! But that controller is a total doozy! Imagine soul calibur, two player, played with that? Ok, you'd look like a complete douche, but what fun!
Guest Anime Otaku
actually ther is also a clip on cover that makes the revolution controller look like a normal one. Chances are the likes of soul calibur would use that if they went back to multiformat as SC3 is PS2 only.
Guest Russ
That's why your average 11-18 year old will buy a PS3 purely because their mates have rather than looking at gameplay. Is there anything wrong with that? When it came to buying next generation consoles in Winter...2000 (I think), most of my friends, or at least the ones I'm closest to who I'd go to their house and end up playing a console, decided to come to an agreement to all get the same system so that we could get the most from it. It allowed us to swap games, trade memory card saves, take extra controllers round to other people's houses and allowed everyone to be on a level playing field when it came to playing against each other. We all agreed to get PS2s for the 3rd party support, the ability to play DVDs when it wasn't the norm and the fact that while people had differing opinions about the Dreamcast or N64, the majority of people seemed happy to play Playstation games. The only games that I tend to play are the PES, Smackdown!, GTA and NBA games. I could very well have decided to buy an X Box for Halo or a Gamecube for some Mario games. But the PS2 at the time supported the games that I wanted to play the most, and I think our agreement to buy the same console was a very wise move. Just like not all Gamecube owners are 7 years old, not all Playstation owners are sheep. This thread is verging on entering GameFAQs fanboy territory where people will defend the console they have and crap on everything else. I can see the pros and cons of all systems, and I still think I made the best decision I could have in 2000 to get a PS2, and I don't see how my judgment will differ when it comes to getting a PS3. More support for the games I want to play on a console which I can get the most from by swapping titles with my friends. If that makes me a sheep, so be it. Baaaa. Guest da game
the console might be good but they want have well known games
Guest Christof
So? Surely game play is more important than the football game for example being FIFA branded. If it was all about being well known then Wrestlemania 21 on the XBOX wouldn't suck. I refuse to believe that not being "known" stops a game from being good.
Guest MrFill
Yeah, you need to have a well known game, let's think about when the Xbox first came out, like Halo, that was... oh, wait, it was a brand new game... What about Splinter Cell... oh, wait, it was a brand new game too... Not everybody wants to play the same game over and over and over again - I like refreshing new games, something that makes me go "wow", rather than "just another GTA game" or "another FIFA game", etc.
Guest Anime Otaku
I think what they need is a mix like a Mario game or maybe Pilotwings or Monkeyball as that could use the new controller in interesting ways but also some new games especially with the new controller. The better new stuff at least to start with would probably be from nintendo initially though.
