tazz13
WWE filed a trademark for "WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION" on November 2nd with the following usage explanation. "Entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through the media of television; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network." WWE was forced to stop using the WWF name after losing a case to the World Wildlife Fund. It is unknown if WWE is planning on making the current WWF an offer so that they can use the WWF name again. MrFill
Why bother trying? For their videos of older shows - it would mean that they wouldn't have to blur and bleep out references.
Ryan
OMG OMG OMG i just marked my pants off, sweet jesus if they changed back to WWF i would love Vince for ever and ever, woo!
the HiTman
Yeah, I would prefer it too. WWF really does sound better than WWE.

I wish they did that before they released a massive Wrestlemania Anthology.
Ryan
listen to this...... "He Is The World Wrestling Entertainment Champion...." "He Is The World Wrestling Federation Champion...." Federation just sounds a hell of alot better.
Sav
Exactly the reason why they never call John Cena the World Wrestling Entertainment Champion.
Percy
As much as I'd like it to happen, can't see it. By the way, for anyone who has DVDs of older WWF events, how do they cover up the WWF logo and in commentary? Is it bad?
Sav
The Tagged Classics that Silvervision release are completely unedited.
pinmepayme
For their videos of older shows - it would mean that they wouldn't have to blur and bleep out references. As i have mentioned in another thread, i recentley purchased the WWE's "Monday Night War" DVD which was released after the change from Federation to Entertainment and in that they often use the title 'World Wrestling Federation'. pinmepayme. rawiswar
Let's face it, it never did and never has felt right them using WWE. It has ALWAYS been "Welcome fans to the World Wrestling Federation" or the way JR has always shouted "WWF" it just seemed so right. Then the WWE name comes along (yes they were forced too) but it just isn't right, never has been. If they get WWF back that can only mean good things :)
Brad
I think they should go for it, it is better and what do they have to lose, i mean they can't get sued again and they have a good case really.

Aren't they allowed to say 'World Wrestling Federation'? They just cant show the WWF logo.
Mermaidman
makes no difference to me, the writing needs to be changed more than anything.
MrFill
I have a feeling that there was a period of time before they could file the trademark - either that or WWE are a bunch of idiots for not doing it sooner. :P
Russ
Wasn't it the case that WWE were always free to call themselves the "World Wrestling Federation", but just couldn't go by the name "WWF" any more? Someone would need to check out a DVD rerelease and see if they're still able to say "World Wrestling Federation", because I'm sure they're still allowed to say that. The only problem is that they can't use WWF, because it might confused some people (ie- lobotomy patients) with the charity WWF. I think this trademark is more to cover themselves in showing old material, rather than a renaming of the company. This doesn't really seem to suggest anything I didn't know already. Dan
I doubt the WWE will re brand itself back to the WWF, it would cost too muvch money and make no sense. I suspect the trademark will be purely for DVD's, and WWE 24/7 Service.
Danny Styles
hopefully if they do change back to WWF.. we will loose the whole crappy entertainment factor that we have in the WWE AND MAYBE THE CHAMP WILL BE ABLE TO F'IN WRESTLE!!! hey i can dream can't I? pinmepayme
Aren't they allowed to say 'World Wrestling Federation'? They just cant show the WWF logo. Well that's what i thought aswell. I was just commenting on something Mr.Fill said about "bleeping out references". pinmepayme.
Gooneronastick
Ok. Now put down the hand lotion and tissues and slowly step away. Ew, ew and eeeeewwww! :eek There are some things I just don't need to know. On a serious note, how long do trademarks last? It might just be WWE re-registering the trademark. MrFill
AND MAYBE THE CHAMP WILL BE ABLE TO F'IN WRESTLE!!! hey i can dream can't I? Well, it wasn't necessarily needed during the WWF period. Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Andre The Giant, Sgt. Slaughter, The Undertaker, Yokozuna, Diesel, Sycho Sid, Kane, Vince McMahon and The Big Show. Yup, none of them could wrestle.
