Preview:

Last week, Kurt Angle brought in Daivari to be the special guest referee for his match. Daivari helped Angle & Chris Masters defeat Shawn Michaels & John Cena, and then laid out the WWE Champion with a chair. Will we find out why Angle chose Daivari as his man?

Also, RAW ambushed SmackDown Friday night, and Kane and Big Show left the World Heavyweight Champion laid out after a double chokeslam. Following SmackDown, Batista stated that he will be leading Team SmackDown to RAW this Monday night, regardless of if he's injured or not.

Tune into RAW next Monday night at 9/8 CT on the USA Network for all this and more.

Am I right in saying, no storylines will be progressed at all this week? I kinda got that impression of what Vince was saying, but I'm not sure.

I really hope it is a wrestling show, combined with some Eddie matches, such has Halloween Havoc '97, No Mercy 2004 and so on. Give us, Chavo vs Benoit, or bring back Malenko, for a fitting way to remember Eddie.

I'll be dissapointed really, if we have 10% Eddie, and 90% of the usual material.

Acording to Meltzer on his radio program right now it's gonna be the wrestlers talking about their memories with Eddie and some matches.

No storylines at all.

And also the tour to Italy has been delayed like 2 days because guys like Benoit and Mysterio refused to missed Eddies funeral wich conflicted with the trip to Italy.

So Vince had no choice to delay the trip.Eddies funeral is gonna be held in Pheonix,USA.

Taping so far Source Dailywrestling.com

The show started up with the crowd chanting "Eddie, Eddie." Many fans in the building have signs dedicated to Eddie Guerrero. On the stage, as a tribute to Eddie, they have his car set up. Lilian Garcia opened the show by saying this would be a special tribute show for Eddie Guerrero. There was no pyro, and no special introduction of any of the announcers.

(1) Mr. Ken Kennedy defeated Val Venis in about five minutes. Kennedy got major heel heat for being from Green Bay and playing that up quite a bit while in the midst of Viking Country. This was apparently either a dark match or a Heat match.

Afterwards, all the wrestlers came out. Chris Benoit was crying from the moment he came out of the curtain, and was perhaps more emotional than anyone. Vince McMahon then said some words about Eddie: "Eddie Guerrero has passed away. Eddie was in the prime of his life, in the prime of his career. Tonight we celebrate the life of Eddie Guerrero. He loved the business. He had a passion like no one else. Whether cheered or booed, he loved to perform for the fans. Eddie Guerrero's goal every night was to steal the show. He would want the show to go on. And so we shall."

They had a 10-bell salute for Eddie, and the crowd was silent for it. After this, they aired a tribute video set to Johnny Cash's rendition of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt." When the video was done, Vince said, "Viva La Raza!" Pretty much everyone was out for this, including Shane McMahon, who was crying as well. The fans chanted "Thank you, Eddie!"

John Cena then had some words about Eddie: "Eddie was a father figure. Eddie was a man of faith, but selfishly, we'll all miss him."

(2) Big Show & Kane defeated MNM in about four minutes. This wasn't technically a squash match, but it was pretty close to it. The finish came on a chokeslam. Before the match, they showed the angle where Eddie sprayed Big Show with raw sewage from a past Smackdown show.

(3) Kurt Angle defeated Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin got a near fall with a wicked looking back suplex off the top rope. Angle was able to kick out of that and apply the anklelock for the submission victory.

After that, they showed a bunch of old Eddie and Chavo comedy skits from over the years. Chavo on the big screen then gave an emotional speech about how Eddie was like a big brother to him. He talked about how much he looked up to Eddie and how much teaming with Eddie meant to him.

It was confirmed that Joey Styles, Jerry Lawler and Jonathan Coachman are doing the commentary for the Raw show. The show is being presented in such a way that there are no angles whatsoever. It's simply matches and video segments.

(4) Rey Mysterio defeated Shawn Michaels in about 10 minutes. Michaels went for the sweet chin music, but Mysterio was able to avoid it. Mysterio then hit the 6-1-9 and dropped the dime to get the pinfall victory. During the pin, Michaels' legs sort of flailed about, but they still counted the pin. After the match, Mysterio and Michaels hugged. It should be noted also that during the course of the match, Mysterio paid tribute to Eddie by doing his little celebratory dance, which was a nice touch.

The announcers (Styles, Lawler, Coach) were shown talking, but the fans live in the arena could not hear what they were saying.

(5) Melina (from MNM) won a diva battle royal. All active divas on the roster, excluding Lita, participated in the battle royal. Maria was said to have done very little during the match, and spent most of her time in it avoiding physical contact.

(6) Eugene defeated Simon Dean. Eugene won it with the Rock Bottom.

They then aired a video of Chris Benoit and Eddie together. Benoit gave a speech about how close he and Eddie were. He broke down during the speech, as this was clearly a very emotional time for Benoit. He said, "Thank you for everything you've given me. I'll never forget you. I love you."

After this, Triple H gave a speech about Eddie. This was an inopportune time for Hunter to give his speech, following Benoit like that. It was said that a skeptic might have questioned Hunter's intentions. Hunter said Eddie was well liked by everyone in the locker room, and that no one had a bad thing to say about him.

(7) Ric Flair defeated William Regal. The finish came when Flair made Regal submit to the figure four leglock. Flair had an Eddie Guerrero arm band on, and played it up for the crowd and got a nice ovation for it.

They then aired clips of Eddie Guerrero and his relationship with Chyna, and things that went on during that time period.

(8) John Cena defeated Randy Orton by disqualification. The finish came when "Cowboy" Bob Orton interfered on his son's behalf. The match was said to have been not very long and not very good.

Overall, the best match of the taping was Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels, but in general the focus was on Eddie Guerrero, and in no way would that be considered a match of the year candidate. There were no promos (other than the tribute speeches for Eddie) and no angles whatsoever. Just video packages and matches

Raw/Smackdown spoilers from Eddy Guerrero tribute show in Minneapolis

by Jackey Emmert

I just got back from the supershow at the Target Center. Here are the results:

-Eddie's low rider was in its usual starting position as a tribute.

-Lilian Garcia came out and told us tonight was a "special tribute" show. She introduced the first match.

-Mr. Kennedy def. Val Venis in a dark match. Mr. Kennedy was announced from Green Bay and got all of his heat from Vikings fans chanting "Packers Suck". Kennedy won with that cool top-rope maneuver.

All of the superstars from RAW and SMACKDOWN walked out from under the Titantron. Close-ups were shown of a crying Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle and other superstars before the Titantron turned black. Vince McMahon took the microphone and said words about Eddie before concluding with "VIVA LA RAZA!"

Several interviews with superstars were dispersed throughout the show, all saying how much Eddie loved his family and the wrestling business. They were all very touching and genuine.

The announcers weren't introduced and there were no pyros, so it was confusing as to what was and wasn't on television, but here are the results of the RAW taping:

-Kane & Big Show def. MNM with a double chokeslam on Nitro. Big Show kissed Melina and she fell off the apron. Melina didn't do her ring entrance because of her back injury.

-Kurt Angle def. Shelton Benjamin with the ankle lock. Shelton got a big pop being a former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher. Shelton performed a very scary overhead suplex from the top rope on Kurt during the match that prompted the only "Holy Sh*t" chant of the night.

-Rey Misterio def. Shawn Michaels in an excellent match. Rey went for the 619 multiple times, with Shawn finding ways to dodge it (I wanted it to be the 612 for Minneapolis). In the end, Rey won with a huracanrana into a roll-up. The two men hugged after the match.

-Melina won a Divas Battle Royal over Ashley Massaro, Candice Michelle, Jillian Hall, Maria, Christy Hemme, Victoria, Mickie James and the Women's Champion Trish. Like all the other wrestlers, the divas wore Eddie Guererro "Who's Your Papi?" T-shirts, but took them off and threw them in the audience once they were all in the ring. Mickie was eliminated first (who'd she piss off?). Some botched moves here as Victoria and Candice attempted to slingshot Ashley out of the ring, but she didn't go over and they had to move her legs for her. Maria stood there for the most of the match before eliminating Jillian. They also did a Maven/Undertaker spot where Maria shocked the crowd by eliminating Victoria. Maria, Trish and Melina were the final two, and Melina and Trish quickly double-teamed Ma! ria to eliminate her, but while Trish was on the apron Melina shoved her off. This was a very surprising finish.

-Eugene def. Simon Dean

-In the RAW main event, John Cena def. Randy Orton by disqualification after Bob Orton interfered. John hit Randy with an RKO after the match, then took off his Eddie shirt and placed the World Championship on it.

SMACKDOWN results:

-Batista came out driving Eddie's low-rider and did a very emotional promo. He had trouble maintaining his composure at times, but did a very good job.

-Matt Hardy def. Carlito Caribbean Cool with the Twist of Fate. Crowd was quiet for most of it, partly because of the emotion and because the show had reached the two-hour mark.

-Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch.

-Chavo Guererro came out to a great ovation and defeated JBL (w/Jillian Hall). Chavo threw a chair in the ring, threw it in JBL's hands, and then pretended to have been hit with it. When the referee threw the chair back, Chavo low-blowed JBL and won with a Three Amigos/Frog Splash combo. Chavo thanked the fans after the match.

-Chris Benoit def. HHH in the main event with an inside cradle as HHH was fighting out of the Crippler Crossface. They embraced after the match, and as HHH walked to the back, Dean Malenko came out and got in the ring with Chris. The men took a sign for Eddie from a fan and placed it in the center of the ring before walking out.

It was a very emotional, well-produced show and WWE did a good job of putting together a show so great in a very short amount of time and very dire circumstances.

I dont think it will be like that, well i hope not anyway, Eddie was a real popular guy in the back apparently, well loved, so i hope they give him the tribute they deserved, and not the pathetic tribute they gave the british bulldog

i will watch this wednesday night and no doubt be in tears.... I feel so bad for Benoit especially....

the show sounds great and big respect for WWE for doing the right thing

the one thing that i don't liek was HHH taking his speech after Benoit.. i think Cean and HHH shouldn't have had speaches.. Cena's was short but i doubt he really knew Eddie.... fair do's if he did...

but Hunter and Eddie were well documented to having problems.. and for him to speak juist after Benoit... who was crying for ****s sake was very stupid
