Who else loves the fireworks at the start of PPVs

They're a bit of a waste of money these days. To set up a big pyro display before a show used to be a really special thing, but it eventually got to the stage where we saw them at least four times a week to open Raw, Smackdown!, Heat, Velocity and maybe even a PPV.

It makes sense not to use them too often and save them for the big shows, to make it a little bit more expensive. It's also very expensive to keep setting these up, as WCW found out. They were losing ridiculous amounts of money on pyro because just about every wrestler incorporated some into their entrance, and they'd set it off at random times throughout the show between matches while the Nitro Girls killed time.

It's one of these things like the over abundance of gimmick matches that would mean a whole lot more if we didn't see them so often.

Don't believe everything you see on TV, folks. At the last Birmingham Raw taping, watching on TV you saw the usual volley of pyro. In the arena - nothing. We were told to go mental and counted in to... nothing. :(

Makes sense, like Russ said, it saves cash and could you tell two entranceways apart?

There was no pyro on TV. I was pretty bummed when they didn't have any at the start of the Smackdown taping. No pyro, dodgy old ramp and dodgy old annouce table.

Although what I didn't get was why they had a stage for the Raw, and got rid of it (and replaced it with a bus) for the Smackdown taping the next day.
