Kanenite
Why is it that some people have such a major problem with Wrestling?ย On numerous occasions in the past 3 years I have been a victim of loving Wrestling. People have said things such as 'Why do you like Wrestling, it's crap!' but why do they do it?ย The other day this lad said to me 'Wrestling is crap, don't you know it's fake?'' and I just said to him 'You watch Eastenders, that is fake' but I think that what I said was very right. Some people watch Soaps and films and they are fake so why do they watch them? The bottom line is no-one is going to change my oppinion on Wrestling and I can see myself still watching it in years to come.ย So lets have your oppinions on why People think that Wrestling is trash and what is there problem? WWE
Wrestling is Trashย RAGE :P ย Lol, seriously now:ย I don't know... it's annoying and I get it too... watching football I hate it (I like playing it though) and if somebody said about Wrestling and I say about football, they look away or something... :roll
The Impaler
Its just people sterotype things like wrestling, think their too cool for skool-maybe they wont be so rude when you put them in ankle lock and break them ( just kidding), although oneof my mates did do this (its true, its true). ย Basically evryones differnt blah, blah, blah who cares if they dont like it. Evil Gringo
Because they remember a few sterotypical things about wrestling that they can poke fun at...ย Number one it used to have men in spandex suits that 'fondeled' each other on the mat...ย Number two it has crazy and outlandish characters that would have been laughed at in any soap opera...ย And number three because they are snobs who wouldn't know real entertainment if it bit them on the ass....ย If they can get as much enjoyment from old bids gossiping in a pub like in Coronation Street as I did for the 'Who Ran Over Stone Cold' angle then they are sick and twisted individuals who need a)locking up or b) shooting... Edgehead
I sometimes get that crap from people at work but it really doesn't bother me cos I know that wrestling rules all and anyone who thinks otherwise should be rounded up and shot :xyx
Evil Gringo
I wear a Chris Jericho T-Shirt to work.... My workmate enjoys it after finally getting back into it thanks to his kid and my boss (who is a women) loves the Rock and watches it with her boyfriend who I went to school with...ย All the lads at my school (who where seen as uncool and are now therefore not a)chavs, b) in prision, c) on drugs or d) on JSA where into wrestling...ย We even brought in our n64's and Playstations and played No Mercy and Smackdown 2 at dinner time on the portable TV in my form room much to the digust of the trendy girls and boys....ย End of the day I am now in a better position and aren't a stain on society like they all turned out to be... Being a wrestling fan makes you a better person, thats a fact!ย That is with the following exceptions... Greenburg... Remlap... Saddam Hussian... Satan and Bon Jovi.... Boyo
Whilst wrestling is great entertainment, some of the time, there is a really wholly pathetic element to it that can draw derision from people.ย It's the fact thatย a) it's not real b) the fans know it's not real c) non-fans know it's not real d) the storylines are not real e) it cannot call itself a sport any more f) it's not really dramaย the worst thing is:ย g) everyone knows it's not real yet people go crazy as if it WERE real. Real sport. We all know that Triple H vs Hurricane will be won by Triple H, and we can quite often predict how he will win it (Pedigree). We all know that when The Hurricane gets his requisite few moves in they will amount to nothing, but we still cheer Hurricane even though we know it will amount to nothing and Triple H will win.ย Cheering for the person you know will lose in the end, because it looks like he will win, despite EVERYBODY knowing that he won't, can make some wrestling fans look a little silly.ย The old "I marked out like crazy when Spanky tried a cross-body on Big Show", when you know damned well Big Show will catch and probably eat Spanky, is kinda dumb.ย However, my housemate, an on-off wrestling fan, has been rather impressed with the recent approach WWE has taken, and this could work with the popularity of the WWE generally.ย Cheers!

I dont know why, but that made me laugh out loud so hard...ย But indeed. When people say "oh but its fake you know..." I just grill them about what THEY watch on TV... Christof
no it's worse than that.ย I am meeting up with a group of friends that I have met on the internet. The Beltster
Watching wrestling is generally placed in that same category of nerds painting little led Warhammer 40K figures and going to their local 'Games Workshop' to have battles on a big table. Evil Monkey
Being a huge fan of wrestling, I have been met (using the words of hassan) with much predjudice!! ย Seriously, if people have a problem with it thats their business. I brag at work about how much I love it, and the fact that I am planning on going t WM 23. Only idiots who get no satisfaction in their own lives feel the need to ridicule. they are like school bullies.ย I also get the same cos i am a huge fan of rock/metal music, but meh, what are you to do?! Jung
Its like anything really, people will hate it, because they don't understand it.ย They don't understand what grown men and women, find great about watching sometimes terrible acting, stupid gimmicks, staged fighting, and just general over the top tomfoolery, but of course they aren't fans, so they won't ever get it.ย Just because they don't understand, is simply why they don't like it. And its why most after watching it a few times, enjoy it. Same can be said for people who don't like rugby, football, American football to stuff like ice skating and cricket.ย They don't like it, cause they don't get it. Russ
It's easy enough to hide a love of wrestling. As long as you make sure you never miss going out to stay in and watch a show, don't use any obvious catchphrases, empty your PC's history, give yourself a wrestling related MSN name or make the rookie mistake of leaving wrestling shirts/video games/DVDs lying out in the open, you're pretty much sure not to be caught. I lived with a girl for about a year and she didn't have a clue that I was into wrestling in a big way.ย I kept all my wrestling products at my house, I deleted her laptop's history after every vist to TWO, WO and the like, and of course, I made sure to watch Raw/SD!/PPVs at someone else's flat. Hell, even when I was writing the Video Games Updates for W101 I told her I was "emailing friends".ย It's easy enough to hide that you like wrestling, and you get all the fun of stealing the best quotes. I still use HHH's "This is an A to B conversation, so C yourself out of it" when the need arrises.
The Doctor
I'm not going to hide my love of wrestling!ย Sod that! If people who watch cricket :sleep, or talk about football endlessly :sleep, or follow soaps, Big Brother and who is dating who in Heat magazine can do so with head held high, then damn it, I HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF! MrFill
I'm quite lucky living near Atlanta - it used to be a hot-bed of wrestling, so down here it's nothing to be ashamed ofย Pity that the WWE doesn't come through here that often now - they're actually in the UK more often than they're in Georgia :P
Y2James
It's easy enough to hide a love of wrestling. ย I know ive been doing it for 3 years.ย As long as you make sure you never miss going out to stay in and watch a show, ย Meh, They wonder why I never go out on Friday nights and why im tired tuesday mornings, but still dont know.ย don't use any obvious catchphrases, ย I dont speak much anyway.ย ย empty your PC's historyย Dont know how to, its not like they check my history anyway.ย ย never give yourself a wrestling related MSN name or make the rookie mistake of leaving wrestling shirts/video games/DVDs lying out in the openย my msn name is James The Butcher taken from Abdullah The Butcher but I told them it was my dream job. I dont own any shirts, everyone has the video games even non fans, my house is full of wrestling videos DVDs thats why I never let them in my house.ย ย you're pretty much sure not to be caught. ย Worked so far. ย ย ย ย ย I dd tell a friend not so long ago, this is whatt happened.ย ย Jack: You dont still watch wrestling do you?ย Me: Yepย Jack: And you wonder why you have never had a girlfriend?ย Me: At least I didnt go and get anyone pregnant.ย ย Thats another story though.
