Chris Benoit
I've been thinking of trading in my PS2 to get a Nintendo GameCube, Is It worth it? :? What good games are there for GameCube? Im particularly interested in Day Of Reckoning.
Anime Otaku
hell GC's are really cheap now just get one second hand if you need it really cheap, i got the bundle with Legend of Zelda: wind waker and platinum GC although now i realise that there are no offical Platinum controllers on sale :( there are pleny of great games onGC, Especially the Mario games, plus alot of multi format games look better than the PS2 version and just as good as the XB version as they are equally powerful, the difference in stats is down to Microsoft releasing a polygon count that is for a macine making only untextured polygons where as Nintendo have allowed for texturing and running other parts of the game at the same time like AI. the only thing id really warnyou about is that you would miss out on all the GTA games and if you don't have a DVD player and sell your PS2 you will need one as GC plays a uniqu type of disc that is tiny and therfore the machine can't physically load a DVD never mind play one as ists a pure games machine
Y2James
Ive never played a Gamecube, anygood?
Anime Otaku
they are really good for most games though T.H.U.G isn't really suited to the controller neither is Soul Caliber 2 but the likes of the Need for speed: Underground games work really well using the analogue shoulder buttons as accelerator and brake buttons and the FPS games work on it well, and of course the exclusive games are amazing with it
GENE
gc cant compare with ps2 , ps2 is so better
Buff
gotta agree ps2 are a whole lot better since they have better games.gamecube are really cheap right now so if you got like 70-80$ you can get a brand new one with a couple of games in it.i do have a gamecube but i don't play any games on it besides the zelda series,so to me it's not worth getting ride of the ps2. Clarkey
PS2 - Mainstream accross the board titles, GC - more specialist as well as having some of the conversions. The main reason for owning the Cube is for the Ninty name and thus the Ninty franchises. If Mario, Zelda and the Miyamoto titles don't float the boat over the likes of the mainstream titles then I'd say the Cube isn't for you when in comparison to the PS2. But again, its about what you like.

wyndorf
gc cant compare with ps2 ' date=' ps2 is so better[/quote']ย What a pointless comment! Why bother posting it? Your back up for that statement is non-existent.ย In truth the Gamecube is a more powerful piece of kit that the PS2, but that means nothing, the GBA is the biggest selling console ever, and that has a quarter of the power of both. So it all comes down to what you like playing. I got a PS2 purely for the Smackdown! games, and almost all of my PS2 games are only available on PS2. Same goes for X-Box, most of my X-Box games are only available on X-Box. Any third party games I usually can get on Gamecube, I get on Gamecube. I like the joypad, so that's the main reason, although I do find PS2's loading times a little long. But the main reason I've got a Gamecube, and that it's my personal favourite, is that I love Nintendo first party games. And that is really the main selling point of the Gamecube, You will never be able to play Mario, Zelda, Metroid on anything other than a Nintendo. You will never be able to play Animal Crossing, Wario Ware and Eternal Darkness on anything other than a Nintendo. Quite honestly I can't think of a terrible Nintendo first party game, but again It all comes down to what you want out of a game. Cracking level design, original gameplay and superb multiplayer games are all major plusses of being able to play Nintendo games.ย Day of Reckoning is great too.ย And remember Resident Evil 4 is just a couple of weeks away! Buff
although I do find PS2's loading times a little long.ย that means you should upgrade to the slim ps2.loading time won't take as long.plus the slim ps2 is way better than the original ps2. wyndorf
that means you should upgrade to the slim ps2.loading time won't take as long.plus the slim ps2 is way better than the original ps2.ย It's not a massive problem, It's just sometimes a little annoying waiting 10 seconds plus, for a new level/cut scene/match...etc to load on certain games. I'm not a big fan of the slim-line version, it's just so damn small, I like my consoles BIG! In fact, they could improve the Gamecube, by making it bigger! Buff
lol i guess bigger is better in your case :P
voice of reason
Considering second hand GCs are around the 40 quid mark, which is the same as a full price game anyway, you might as well have both, there's plenty of good reasons to do so. Feenix
This wont be helpful at all, but I have a hi-spec PC, a PS2, a Gamecube and an Xbox... and the Xbox owns all of them by miles.... no, lightyears.
Batista Mike
Agreed, Xbox does own, with PS2 & Gamecube not far off.
Moobs
Benoit, If Day Of Reckoning is the game your most interested in then I strongly advise you to keep your PS2. SmackDown Vs. Raw for the 'station is much better. But you might aswell get a 'Cube aswell, there around ยฃ40 second hand.
