US News - by The Maxx

Welcome to this weeks US Roundup! Again, credit goes to Fletch for doing all the work. This week we saw a lot of interesting thing’s from around the course of US wrestling. Lets take a look…

- Chris Jericho will be on TSN’s “Off the Record” on Tuesday, January 18th. I believe Carmen Electra will be on the same show.

- WWE chairman Vince McMahon and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be appearing together some time next week on Best Damn Sports Show Period on Fox Sports Net.

- John Cena's new "Ruck Rules" hat was censored out on UPN's broadcast of Smackdown last night.

- WWE home video releases are New Years Resolution on Feb. 18, Royal Rumble on March 1, an IC title DVD on Jan. 25 and an Andre the Giant DVD on Jan. 25th.

- Fast numbers for Smackdown has the show doing a 3.7 rating. The overnight rating was a 4.1

Hulk Hogan spent most of his time at the Smackdown taping in Tampa, FL show with Shane McMahon although it's believed he did meet with Vince earlier in the day.

He was also seen talking to JBL for a few minutes who was overheard saying: "Hulk Hogan this is your belt I am just carrying it."

Hogan was well received by the locker room and left shortly after the show got underway.

It should be noted that Hogan lives in the area, and it is believed Hogan may be positioning himself for a Wrestlemania payday.

The offices of NWA Florida are very proud to announce that The Shane Twins, Mike & Todd have been signed to a 3 year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment.

The Shane Twins have been tearing up Japan, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saipan and the entire indie scene for several years, and have been the flagship tag team of both IPW Hardcore & NWA Florida for 6 years. The Twins are also former NWA World, IPW, NWA Florida, and JAPW tag team champions.

NWA FL Vice President & Director of operations, Ron Niemi…the long time manager of the Shane Twins was quoted as saying “The Shane Brothers are not only the best tag team I have ever worked with but are like family to me. To see what kind of dedication they have inside and outside the ring for over 6 years now I can honestly say I don't know of 2 guys that are more deserving of this opportunity and I know they will make a HUGE impact in the WWE. I am the proudest I have ever been in my 13 years in this business and seeing my boys get signed makes me know everything that has been sacrificed and all of the hard work has been worth it. I am thrilled that Mr. Laurinaitis has given them this break and also want to thank Steve Keirn for all his help as well as Dean Malenko for training Mike and Todd when they first broke into wrestling. Congrats to Mike and Todd and their families, you deserve this!"

NWA Florida President Joe Price was quoted as saying “I couldn't be more happy for Mike, Todd & their families. This is something that is very long overdue. When you have two guys their size that can fly around like a cruiserweight, chain wrestle with the best of them, and just the brute strength alone how can you go wrong. NWA Florida saw it and that is why they have been our champions for the better part of the past 3 years. Not only is this a great chance for Mike & Todd, but it also opens the doors for many of the NWA Florida talent which is simply the best in the country to be looked at seriously and get the positions in the majors they truly deserve!”

More info regarding the Shane Brothers future with the WWE will be coming over the next few weeks!

NWA Florida stars were all over the WWE Smackdown tapings last night at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, FL. In a dark match new WWE signees the Shane Brothers beat former NWA Florida Heavyweight Champion Steve Madison and Shannon Moore in a very good match that got a great reaction for the crowd.

NWA Florida and Ring of Honor star Roderick Strong was the newest challenger in the Kurt Angle Invitational. The crowd was on fire during this match and it is highly recommended you watch WWE Smackdown tomorrow night on UPN to see this brutal encounter. Watch for NWA Florida Heavyweight Champion Bruce Steele and Antonio Banks as Angle's security during this encounter.

The latest on Rob Van Dam is that he has severe knee ligament damage, a torn MCL and a partially torn ACL. As with Lita he could be looking at several months on the injured list. He hasn't decided yet on what type of surgery he wants. An MCL repair would mean he could return to action in just two months but a complete reconstruction, which is what doctor's have recommended, would mean around eight months out.

WWE.com has put up a new spotlight website focusing on Chris Jericho.

Local ad's in Cleveland list Undertaker & Big Show & John Cena vs. JBL & Kurt Angle & Heidenreich as a dark match main event for the SmackDown! tapings on 2/15.

MSNBC has an article up on Carmella DeCesare being acquitted of assaulting the ex-girlfriend of her boyfriend Jeff Garcia at a Cleveland bar.

As of now the WWE is still undecided on what to do with the World Tag Team Titles since Eugene is now injured. The WWE knows there arent enough teams on the Raw brand to hold a large tournement so there could be a battle royal or some sort of one night tournement on Raw to decide the belts. We should know very soon.

The WWE went to the Federal Court in Canada this past week to get another injunction to prevent Canadian Bars from illegally showing WWE pay-per-views. On a related note, Hooters will no longer be airing WWE PPV's after the corporate office decided not to renew their contract.

Season 3 of the Fantasy League on WWE.com starts soon and registration has started. If your are intrested go to http://www.fantasy.wwe.com.

WWE has still yet to add a bio for Simon Dean to there Raw site however bios for Hassan and Davari were just added a few days ago.

Tickets went on sale this morning for events such as Raw in Cinncinatti Ohio, Smackdown in Cleveland Ohio, Smackdowns Holla Holla Tour in Lasning MI, and other places as well.

Fozzy's new album entitled "All That Remains" will be released this Tuesday on Ash records in the US. The CD contains 10 new tracks recorded by Fozzy and features guest appearances by rock greats such as Zakk Wylde and Marty Friedman.

At this past weekends WWE events surveys were handed out to the fans asking them a few merchandise questions. Some of the questions asked were: Did you buy the Rise and Fall of ECW ?, Who of this list would you purchase a DVD of: Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, The Dudley Boys, Bret Hart, or Randy Orton ? and Which do you prefer shirts with catch phrases on them or actual pictures of the wrestlers themselves ?

Other cities that are being considered as of now to hold upcoming TNA PPV events are Dayton Ohio, Fort Rite Kentucky (Home town of Chris Harris), and Chicago. Either way Shane Douglas has stated that all of TNA's PPV's should be on the road by summer.

TNA should have the Victory Road DVD instock on shoptna.com in the next few weeks. The DVD will contain the entire PPV event as well as over an hour of exclusive backstage footage from the event and the fan fest that took place that weekend. TNA has seen how well DVD's have helped alot of smaller companies like ROH stay alive and have decided to pump out as many DVD's as they can in 2005.

Billy Gunn has had more talks with TNA over the past few weeks and the plan as of now is for him to come in and feud with BG James leading to a match between the two on PPV. He should debute soon since his no compete cluase with the WWE is almost up.

TNA did contact Jamie Noble about sighning a contract with TNA and he was not intrested in doing so at this time. He did however say he wouldnt mind coming in for a few one time deals.

TNA wrestler Hector Garza was released from jail yesterday and is expected to be deported this weekend. Garza was arrested nine days ago at IAH Houston Airport for possession of a controlled substance. He claims that he didn't know the drugs he was carrying were illegal in the U.S. and had a prescription for them back home in Mexico.

- The Amazing Red's TNA contract has expired and he isn't expected back anytime soon either.

- The next Zero-One Max tour which starts 1/23 will feature the debuts of Sonjay Dutt and Simon Diamond.

Alot of speculation is still going around about a possible Samoa Joe vs Mick Foley match in ROH. Foley did say last year he wouldnt wrestle for anyone but the WWE however he was in ROH yet then and has shown how much he loves the company and even apeared on one of there shows for free back in November when they couldnt afford to pay him do to bringing in Jushin Thunder Liger. Joe and Mick have been in a feud as of late and will have an in ring altercation at this Weekends ROH event. Many people feal that this will lead to a match between the two at one of the March shows which could also serve as a warmup match for Mick to work off some ring rust if he indeed does work at Wrestlemania.

ROH and Indy star Jack Evans was hospitalized last night after being injured in a match with Super Dragon at the PWG show in California. Apparently Evans went for his 630 finisher that he has been doing for a while now but landed wrong and fell on his head. He was knocked out for several minutes and the match was stopped. He was taken to the hospital and was kept over night for observation. No word yet on how bad the injury is but I am sure we should find out soon. He will miss tonights ROH show in the Boston Area.

Hey everyone, I hope you all enjoyed last weeks edition and managed to get used to the new layout. This week will be the same but from now on I'll just be advertising up coming shows for the next few weeks only to save overloading people with too much information!

Obviously any news updates concerning shows for later in the year will be under the news section. Remember anyone with any show information, news or results can contact me via the TWO site in the form of email or PM, thanks.

On a side note, this weeks column is a little low on recent show results, that's because there's a lot of wrestling events taking place this very weekend, so I'll be making up for it next week!

International Scene News - by Evil Gringo

Welcome again! Hoped you enjoyed last weeks round up and lets without further delay get you straight to the news from Puro Land this week...

In New Japan theres been no shows but plently of news regrading the contract renewals and signings that take place every January...

The top stories involve the rumours that after the rather indifferent year at the box office and in the locker that several talents are set to leave. Some by choice and others by their own terms...

Here's a list of the grapplers that have been in so far and status...

Yujiro (1/11) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Akiya Anzawa (1/11) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Hiroshi Nagao (1/11) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Hirooki Goto (1/11) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Naofumi Yamamoto (1/11) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Ryusuke Taguchi (1/11) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Gedo (1/12) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Jado (1/12) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Minoru Tanaka (1/12) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Katsushi Takemura (1/12) ~ SIGNED; PAY CUT

Toru Yano (1/13) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Blue Wolf (1/13) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Masayuki Naruse (1/14) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Mitsuya Nagai (1/14) ~ SIGNED; PAY RISE

Katsuyori Shibata (1/14) ~ TALKS SUSPENDED

As it stands at the moment the biggest name to have had talks is Shibata and so far he has turned down all offers and incintives...

The currently sidelined young star is dissappointed with how is portrayed on tour matches, his big match booking and also the managment and direction of company. It is rumoured that he may go to shoot fighting full time or leave to Uei's new BIG MOUTH promotion to be a top star. He is annoyeds at Inoki's continued pressence and involvement in the product despite not having an offical position on the board or booking squad. Saying that though Inoki is the biggest stock holder and NJPW was built on him....

Yuji Nagata is also annoyed at his booking and treatment. He came back from vacation in Hawaii and refused the initinal contract he was faced with. He is very very disappointed with the fact that he and Tenzan have to face TanaNaka in the upcoming IWGP Tag Title match and that if he was to be in such a match then he and Blue Wolf, an actual ranking team should have been given the match.

It is true that Nagata has never really teamed nor cared for Tenzan and it has always when they have teamed up on the odd time. Nagata believes that the match is only there to put the youngsters over him and Tenzan and devalue them and in a way the IWGP belts as Tenzan is also IWGP World Champ....

He also ripped up a NJPW sign outside perhaps declaring his independence of them and his dismay at how its ended up... Mind you there has been rumours of him jumping to NOAH circulating for a while now...

I don't know how much of this an angle, I'm 80% sure Nagata's is but the Shibata situation lord only knows...

But in BIG NEWS it seems that Brock Lesnar, no matter what happens with his WWE talks will be coming to NJPW to work some dates. Brock has become quite close to Inoki in recent weeks and has also met with some of the other NJPW officals regrading his future place in the company. NJPW it seems have seeming placed a potentinal booking on the Tokyo Dome show for May and hope to build the whole thing around him and maybe even have him go for the IWGP title....

Seems like Lesnar is proving like others that there is life outside of the WWE....

In NOAH its been business as usual as the tour has rolled on from the big show on the 8th with some important build up going into the Misawa/Ogawa v Doug Williams/Scorpio match up for the GHC tag titles and Rikio and Kobashi face off which will happen in the near future...

Then across in All Japan its been quite...

But the big story that effected the promotion happened on anothers card as Kaz Hayashi, the Junior Heavyweight champion, placed his title on the line against TAKA Michinoku of R&OD and the president of K-DOJO. They collided in that very promotions ring and after a 25 minute war TAKA put him away with his Michinoku Driver II to become the new AJPW Jr Heavyweight champion!

The rest of the promotion is gearing up for the next big card, the Osaka show on the 16th (which I'll cover next week) which see's Kawada collide with Sasaki for the Triple Crown in the third and maybe final installment of their rivialry that has gone on since 2000...

Also NJPW send TanaYoshie, the former IWGP tag team champions, to take on Jamal and Kea of R&OD for the vacant AJPW tag team titles. R&OD won their shot at them by taking the Real World Tag League in late 2004 and TanaYoshie are their due to the fact that one of the previous holders (Yuji Nagata) was an NJPW contracted wrestler...

Here's the card...

AJPW, 1/16/05

Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium

1. Masanobu Fuchi & Akira Raijin vs. Nobukazu Hirai & Nobutaka Araya

2. Ebessan vs. NOSAWA Rongai

3. Mini Love Machine & Love Machine Arashi vs. TAKA Michinoku & MAZADA

4. Kaz Hayashi & Taichi Ishikari vs. Toshizo & Katsuhiko Nakajima

5. Keiji Muto & Tomoaki Honma vs. TARU & Johnny Stamboli

6. Kohei Suwama Trial Series 2nd: Kohei Suwama vs. Satoshi Kojima

7. AJPW World Tag Title: Taiyo Kea & Jamal vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi & Yutaka Yoshie

8. Triple Crown: Toshiaki Kawada © vs. Kensuke Sasaki

Plus a little bit from Zero-One Max which is the promotion rising from the ashes of the now defunct Hashimoto led Zero One of old...

The AWA is now their main affilation and the promotion had a tournenment to decide who should be the Japanese representive in the tournement for the currently vacant AWA World Title...

After some group matches the promotion ran the knock out stage on the 10th...

1. Yo****o Sasaki beat Shinsuke Z Yamagasa in 8:10 with the Samson Clutch.

2. AWA World Heavyweight Title Tourney Japanese Representative – Semifinals: Takao Omori defeated Wataru Sakata in 8:08 with a backslide.

3. AWA World Heavyweight Title Tourney Japanese Representative – Semifinals: Kohei Sato beat Shinjiro Otani in 14:33 with a Dragon Suplex hold.

4. Ryouji Sai defeated Adrian Lynch in 5:18 with a kneelock.

5. Tatsuhito Takaiwa beat Osamu Namiguchi in 12:45 with a lariat.

6. 4 Way Hardcore Match: Ikuto Hidaka defeated Minoru Fujita/Super Crazy/Masato Tanaka in 18:52 with the Shawn Capture on Fujita.

7. AWA World Heavyweight Title Tourney Japanese Representative – Finals: Takao Omori beat Kohei Sato in 14:08 with the Axe Bomber.

Zero One GM Oscar David sent a letter that was read after the match saying that he since Kensuke Sasaki wants to work with Zero One and that he wants to have a 3 Way Dance between Omori/Sasaki/Sato on 1/23 at Korakuen Hall to determine the Japanese Representative in the AWA Tourney. The letter then said that there would be another 3 Way Dance between 3 guys that David recommended to determine the other representative. Sasaki then came out to a big ovation and agreed to be in the match on 1/23...

So a confusing start storyline wise but at least the action is getting good reviews, they are drawing well enough and in Sasaki have a drawing card for the Tokyo region and a big name (Sasaki is a former 5 time IWGP champ, WCW US Champ, IWGP tag champ and two time G-1 Climax winner)

So thats all for now... till next week!

Extreme Revolution Update

RAW kicked off with the arrival of Deadman who was facing Iagan in a singles match, Deadman was just about to get the win when Sickness interfered in the match striking first Deadman and then Iagan repeatedly. Numerous officials came down to the ring to stop Sickness and just as they do, the Chairman of the Extreme Revolution Paul Heyman comes out onto the stage and announces that Sickness will go one on one with Deadman on RAW in two weeks time in the 3rd in the Series.

The Coach saw his first in ring action when he took on former Extreme Revolution Champion RC, RC dominated most of the match but Coach managed to get the win by using the Piledriver. A move which seemed to annoy Jerry Lawler.

Another Chris2K Vignette airs, Chris2K will return to the Extreme Revolution at the Royal Rumble.

Next up was The Maxx challenging MBR in a non title match, both men were hoping to gain momentum in the build up to the big Royal Rumble match on January 30th.

Following that match, Boyo and Fill went head to head in a solid encounter only for Boyo to sneak the win by grabbing the ropes to get the pin fall. After the match HBK comes down and brutally attacks Boyo, swarms of officials run down to separate the two but at the Royal Rumble they will be no one separating them.

It is now Main Event time, which will see Sickness take on Barry Gower in a one on one match. Sickness mimics Deadman’s ring entrance to huge boos from the crowd in the arena. The deranged one even got on the microphone and began talking like Deadman until Gower interrupted him.

In a solid back and forth match it was Gower who managed to pick up the win over Sickness using the Burning Hammer after Sickness was distracted by some mind games from Deadman. What is going to happen next week when both Deadman and Sickness are in the building?!

WWE Statistics

January 1st - January 8th

- By Chris2K

If you know me, I sympathise, but you'll also know that I'm a big fan of statistics. For the last few months I've been doing something similar to this just as a hobby-type thing, going from 1999 onwards, and now I've decided to bring it to the newsletter. Allow me to explain...

This project is basically a league table. It relies on the results of matches shown on WWE TV, be it RAW, SmackDown, Velocity or Heat. For the purposes of this project, I have separated the points into shows, rather than having one big table.

But why do it? Well it doesn't take that long at all, and it allows you to see who's been winning the most this year, and who's been the year's biggest jobber. It's just a bit of fun really :).

To score points all you need to do is win a match, or be involved in a DQ. You get five points for winning, three for a DQ, Double Count-out or draw, no points for a no contest, and you lose a point for a defeat.

So let's get on with this week's matches and points.

New Year's Revolution Review

- By Chris Clarke

Opening match of the night was for the The World Tag Team Championship between the champions William Regal & Eugene vs Christian & Tyson Tomko. This match was the best way to open the pay per view. I thought it was very entertaining. The chemistry between the champions William Regal & Eugene is absolutely superb and it was so unfortunate that Eugene got injured. This match was a credit to all four men involved in it.

The second match of the night was for the Women's Championship between the champion Lita & the former champion Trish Stratus. This match got off to a very good start. It was fast paced and very hard hitting. I thought it was going to be just like the classic they had on Raw a few weeks ago but unfortunately Lita injured her knee and that is why this match ended so soon with Trish Stratus winning the title for the sixth time.

The third match of the night was for the Intercontinental title between the champion Shelton Benjamin and the challenger Maven. I thought this match was a big let down. The WWE fans were expecting a fast paced, hard hitting match between two of the WWE’s youngest superstars and what we got was Maven shouting at the crowd for fifteen minutes and Shelton Benjamin winning the match almost by default.

The forth match of the night was Jerry "The King" Lawler vs Muhammad Hassan. This match was very good. It was one of those kind of matches you don’t see too often. It built momentum and kept it right the way to the end and having Muhammad Hassan win this match was the right thing to do for both him and and the company.

The fifth match of the night was the rematch Kane vs Gene Snitsky. It gave the WWE fans exactly what they wanted to see, a fight! And that is what this match was from start to finish. These two big bulls went head to head, back and forth and having Kane win the match was just the icing on the cake.

The final match of the night was the Elimination Chamber for the world heavyweight title between Edge, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Batista, Randy Orton and Triple H, with Shawn Michaels (HBK) as the special guest referee. Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho were the first two men to start this match. I thought this was the best way to start this match. Anytime you have these two men together it is a classic match and they went at it hard and heavy for five minutes. Triple H was the third man into the match and he took control for the next ten minutes. When Edge came in he was so fired up he went after everybody. Then in came Randy Orton and he just had daggers for Triple H. This feud was at the heart of this match. Earlier in the night, Shawn Michaels told Edge backstage that if anybody got physical with the ref, he would retaliate. So during the match Edge hit Shawn Michaels with a spear and HBK, keeping true to his word, hit Edge with the Sweet Chin Music costing him to be eliminated by Chris Jericho. When Batista came into the match, Triple H was almost ready to tap out but Batista and Triple H are friends and he did what he said he would do. He saved Triple H from being eliminated. Batista then took care of Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho with one of the most brutal spinebusters I’ve ever seen. That eliminated Chris Benoit who was shortly followed by Chris Jericho who fell victim of the Batista Bomb. Although this match was fantastic, the way it ended was so predictable. You just knew that it was going to come down to Batista, Randy Orton and Triple H. Any WWE fan could see that Randy Orton was going to eliminate Batista and that Triple H was going to slime the win and that was this match’s only down fall.

That's all from this week's newsletters, hopefully next week we will have another E Fed to join the round up with another to be added the week after!

Many, many thanks to all our contributors, may they get their weight in chocolate as a reward. Hope everyone has a good week, and good luck to those who have taken or are going to be taking exams. See you next week :xyx

Good stuff guys. Might have to get that Fozzy album now - Zakk Wylde and Marty Friedman? How the Hell did they get them? Baffling! I'm going to start a band now - my face is ugly enough to get on Crimestoppers so once some media attention comes my way Marty, Zakk, EVH, Vai, Satch, Slash - I'm coming to exploit you!

Oh, also well done to Draven Cage and the other award winners this week.
