Dune: The Butlerian Jhiad

Right, well Im not really sure where to put this, but here's as good a place as any. But anyway, heres the deal. Being a huge fan of the original Dune books, you can imagine my delight when I saw this badboy on the shelf of my local Waterstones. But heres the catch. A quick google search quickly divided readers into three categories. People who thought it was pretty good, but not great, certainly not a patch on the original, people who loved it, and of course, critics and Dune fanboys who sh*t on it from a great height. The other issue is it's a real monster of a book, and is only part one of a trilogy. So, its a long shot but if anyone here has read it, an unbiased reccomendation for or against would be appreaciated before I hand over my crisp notes. Because if I buy one theres no way I'll be able to leave the other two unread. Cheers :xyx .

I have read this one and the second part (The Machine Crusade) and have to say I love them perhaps more than the origional series of books! If you enjoyed the 'Prelude to Dune' set then you will enjoy the 'Dune Legends' books for sure. And don't let its length get toyou, its a surprisingly easy read!

However buy them as soon as you can as the last 2 parts in the series are stillfairly rare in the UK! The specialist Sci-Fi store in Sheffield has to order them in from the USA!
