King Of The Ring 1998 ' date=' Mankind vs Undertaker , Brilliantly entetaining and also kind of worrying :) , Im sure some others will agree[/quote']

1.Undertaker vs. Mankind-How can anyone forget the fall Mick Foley took from the top of that cage? And the drop through the top of the cage was just as vicious. The best Hell In The Cell ever.

2.Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels-Even though Shawn won it(Thanks to interference from Kane) He paid a big price at the hands of the Dead Man.That match was brutal. And the fall Shawn took was almost as brutal as Mankind's.

The Other Hell in The Cell matches wasnt bad.But these two were among the best IMO.

I choose the Undi/Mankind match simply for the spectacle. For no matter how smart we are, or think we are, I defy anyone to expect Mankind to be thrown from the cell like that. JR's emotion in calling that match, the crowd's reaction, Terry Funk involved, Vince coming out looking REALLY concerned. Mick's standing ovation at the end. It was all good. The 1st was also great, from Taker simply destroying HBK, throwing him Powerbomb stylen into the corner of the cell. The cameraman being hit, HBK's piledriver of Taker on the steps. Undi sitting up and staring at Michaels after SCM. And.....Kane making his debut. It was close, but not quite.

There was also a great one on RAW that was Austin/Taker vs Kane/Mankind. That was wild, Stunner on Kane on the roof. It is the forgotten HIAC.

And as a little side note, it was Jim Cornette who came up with the idea, so big thanks to him also.

Taker/Mankind for me. I watched it live and when I saw Foley take that HUGE bump off the cage, if I'm honest, I thought he'd killed himself when he landed. And when Mick got off the stretcher and climbed back up the cage, I marked out big time! This is one of my favourite matches of all time, not only for the action but because the build-up to it was first rate.

As for Mankind/Taker I'm pretty shocked that everyone considers a couple of disturbing bumps to constitute a match let alone a great one.

Well it has to be said that i don't think it is wise to see wrestling as a true sport all the time. Yes it was a gimmick match and yes the wrestling was of a lower standard than Taker vs HBK. But for spectacle it was awesome. I have always been and always will be a foley fan but my tastes have matured and now i find myself prefering to slip Super J 94 into the VCR rather than Cactus Jack deathmatch compilation tapes. But at the same time i think it is always good to go back to the spectacle. To have that small amount of time where you can be sucked right in, glued to the screen and suspend disbelief and be completely in awe of what can be made possible by the very few who are completely talented in the performance stakes. Mick, Rock, Foley etc i'm sure would never dream of comparing themselves to the great technicians of the times but yet be it vicious bumps, stone cold stunners or a ridiculous looking elbow i really enjoy switching the brain off for a while and enjoying the performers for what they are, great story tellers with the ability to make you really care about an angle or a match.

So for me it has to be Foley vs Taker as i can still remember seeing it for the first time and the emotional rollercoaster that was in my opinion the best Hell in a cell.

(p.s. as a subnote the 6 man at armageddon..... was it just me or did rikishis fall off the cage into a truck full of padding suck?!)

What's the difference between this and say New Jack vs Vic Grimes ? Is that a better spectacle because Grimes took a bigger bump ?
you're comparing two of the greatest storytellers in the ring using psychology to make us care about a bump, to two useless heaps of meat who can't wrestle falling off a scaffold, or just one of them falling off a scaffold (depending on which match you're referring to) because that's the only way they can entertain people as they stink.

What is sick about being amazed at somebody putting their body on the line like that? Foley didn't foolishly take any bump, he no doubt knew that he was defining his place in history and leaving a legacy that would live on forever. How can you watch that match and suggest that it's not a spectacle?

The rest of the match was good, two wrestlers go into a ring and tell one hell of a story to the point where we're all completely sucked in. That's a good match.

The surprising thing was not that we all think it's a great match, but that you felt the need to say it surprised you. Have you been under a rock since that match happened? It gets talked about all the time so whether you liked it or not I find it hard to believe that you were genuinly surprised that people regarded it so highly.

And for anyone to say that the rest of it was a good match... wow, just wow.

Was it a good match? that depends on your definition of a good match. Was it a wrestling showcase, definitely not, did i care about every single move, damn right i did. The art in it's truest form is getting people to give a damn. Backyarders do bigger more dangerous bumps but no one gives a damn. When mick took any big bump almost everyone (maybe not you) all cared. genuine concern and absolute relief and amazement when he got up. Biggest mark out moment in that match for me was not either of the falls but the moment when he got off the stretcher. No one was going to complain if he'd got stretchered out, but he didn't he went on and for that he will remain a legend. The story telling was superb. In my opinion it isn't always about the just wrestling. The problem at the moment is the wrestling sucks AND no one cares about the stories.

Mr. Dragon, I have a couple of points to this, one is that you are entitled to your opinion but so does everyone else. Two, if that's all you think that match was then, IMO, you can't have seen the match at all.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that the two bumps are, and always will be the main talking point of that match. But there was so much more. the raw emotion in the match, the legit concern for Mick, Terry Funk being there, the crowd,s reaction during and after the match, the look on Taker's face as he hopes that Foley's not dead, Vince appearing, the tacks, chairs, blood, teeth, Foley's guts in continuing. The whole thing is what makes it memorable. The bumps are just the icing on a hardcore cake.

Remember this is a HIAC poll. In HIAC the actual wrestling usually takes second place to the sick bumps and hardcore stuff.

The best actual match in the cell was, IMO, HBK/HHH at Badd Blood.

But this is the most memorable.

Grimes took the most sickening bump I've ever seen.

Seeing a man with a family foolishly take a bump that could have ended really badly doesn't make a spectacle in my book, but maybe that's just me.

Not to mention New Jack used a taser on him right before he dropped into all those tables. Plus the angle that he fell from was really bad.(Plus remember the way his leg hit in the corner? ewww) New Jack's interview afterwards was pretty hilarious considering what happened. :eek

Even I have to say what Mick did was behind comprehension. I wouldnt want my family around to see me almost kill myself. Plus that time the Rock beat Mick's brains in with a steel chair until he couldnt answer anymore at the Royal Rumble right in front of Mick's wife and two kids. Thats just insane. :evil
