Scrap the titles...

No not the Womans title or even the Cruiserweight title, they may be half ignored but there is a title(s) even more pointless.

I refer of course to both brands tag titles. Its clear that there are not enough proper tag teams to support one show let alone Two. (ie teams not thrown togother for ratings or stories like benoit & Edge / RVD & Rey.)

So what I propose it that if they have another Brand lotery after WM next year they scrap one brands belts & put a load of tag teams on one show for the remaning belt(s).

This would also give them several months to build up for this by putting teams togother & keping them togother up until WM then at WM there could be a unification Tag Title match with both brands.

This is the only way I can think of that WWE can once again make the Tag title belts something special.

WWE have enough teams on both brands that if they were on one brand they could have something resembling a tag team division like they had back in the day. They also have plenty of skilled midcard wrestlers doing FA that they could team up exclusivly as tag teams. (That means they wrestle only as tag wrestlers not singles & tag which would really help the division.)

I couldn't agree more but with the brand split still in its horrible existence I just can't see it happening. It does seem completely pointless we have two tag team titles when they don't even have one good tag team division but the roster split concept dictates that they have to have crap like this going on.

Personally I would prefer one promotion with one World Title, one Intercontinental title, and one Tag Team title but that's just me.

Lets have tag teams that actually look like tag teams. You know, how difficult is it to have two guys at least look like a team, like the Dudleys, or Kidman and London. Don't just throw two guys together because they have nothing better to do like Rhyno and Tajiri. Have a proper division, that mostly works inside that division as Kurtmark says. Not wrestling singles matches half the time and then popping in for the odd tag match. It's like the Cruisers, keep them wrestling within their own division. don't have them winning Cruiserweight matches one week, and then getting squashed by a heavyweight the next.

There are too many belts, too many wrestlers (although they did do a little to try and rectify that) and not enough quality in the right places despite them having the most talented roster on the planet.

The potential is there for a great Tag Team Division, They have some pretty good talent on the roster, The only problem is WWE seem to view the Tag Titles as a way for some singles wrestler to turn on another. Or when they do eventually come up with a great combination (i.e Kidman & London) they split them up a couple of months later.

The belts mean nothing these days, Just a way of progressing feuds and storylines, Which is a shame and to be honest I can't see it changing anytime soon, WWE places all it's focus on singles stars these days in their quest to find the "Next Big Thing", Which is something which in my opinion they are trying too hard to do.

The tag team division is poinless now days. I mean on RAW we have a retard (yes I know he's not really one) and William Regal as tag champs and on SD we have Suzuki who couldn't put on a good match if his life depended on it, and Dupree. They don't even resemble teams.

I don't think putting the tag belts on one show would help because WWE just doesn't seem to care about the titles.

I dont think there would be a great tag division if they were all on the same show, how much real tag teams is there? La Resistance and the Dudleys, oh and the Bashams but they suck really badly but at least there a real team. Giving the titles to 'teams' like Kidman/London make no sense, it was probably the first time they ever teamed together on a SD, and suddendly beat the Dudleys, at least make them establish themselfs as a proper tag team (ie team name, same attire, double team move), the same goes for Kenzo/Rene, RVD/Rey, Rhyno/Tajiri and any other singles guys that have nothing to do, that have just been thrown in a team.

They used to have a few actual teams, The worlds greatest tag team, Dudleys, APA, Bashams, hell even E&C, that would still work today. But the stupid thing with the lottery is that they thought it was controversial to split teams up. It's not it's just stupid IMO. The Rockers were together in the WWF for 5 years befor they split, which meant we cared when it happened. A good fued occured, then Shawn Michaels career took off. Not splitting Kidman/London before we even have any attachment to them.

I enjoyed the Kidman / London fued but I couldn't care about it emotionally because as Draven said they were not togother long enough for me to care. As I said WWE needs to establish new tag teams over the next few months if they want us to view tag wrestling in WWE as anything other than a joke.

Putting the belts on Two main eventers (Benoit / Edge) doesn't count nor does throwing Rey & RVD togother unless they intend to stay as a team.

You're right and it is a shame that things are as they are. I liked it when you had wrestlers who were "tag team specialists". Teams fought or argued but that was part of the dynamic. Their situations mirrored real families and friendships. That was one of their selling points.

I don't think the WWE will ever revive the tag-team division. No one cares and there for it doesn't draw money. That's WWE's theory, they don't realize that they completely lost touch with the tag-team division when they did the brand extension, as Mr Cage said "they thought it was controversial to split teams up. It's not it's just stupid" and it was! People do care, and tag-teams would draw, but you've gotta have some damn Tag-Teams! not two mid-carders with nothing better to do. As has been said, there are only three proper tag-teams in the whole company, the Dudleys, the Bashams and La Resistance, and not one of these teams hold the titles, that screams 'rubbish booking'. WWE needs to spend money to make money, if they want the tag-teams to draw, they need to create new tag-teams, and I mean proper teams with a name, matching themes for there attire and of course some double team moves. If this means repackaging guys, then so be it, have them wrestle every week on tv, and feud with each other. If WWE establish teams, they will garner intrest, and may even sell t-shirts. If they really worked on it, I'm sure that they could have a Tag-Team title match headline house shows.

But why not give Hurricane and Rosey a team name? and have them wrestle in tag matches more often? Hurricane is misused as a tag-teamer, they send him out on his own everytime they need a squash guy, and there for I don't consider Hurricane and Rosey to be a legit tag-team.

On a different note, all the three proper teams that have been mentioned, are all heels. It doesn't really matter on RAW, as there is only one team, but to have the Bashams and the Dudley's on one show and have both teams be heels takes away that if one of these teams ever did hold the titles, they wouldn't face each other. That's good writing!

true... but what would you call them? also i'd like to see them get a double team finish but again as they are so different where as in most team the two guys are similar in build or in the case of when show and spike were teaming they had show be used as a kindof turnbuckle for spike to jump from. what would it be?

maybe hurricane doing an overcaste and then rosey doing a splash/legdropfrom the mat

I had a little rant about this on here a while back. Until WWE starts promoting teams as teams, rather than two midcarders, then the tag team division is totally redundant. Even if you consider the 'real' active teams on the roster right now The Dudleys are only still together because their singles pushes failed and The Bashams because nobody cares - although I hear that they may be preparing for a split too (doubtless to another round of apathy)

It seems pretty obvious that Vince considers there to be no money to be made anymore in promoting a tag team, which is why he splits them up in such a hurry. I can't see that the tag titles will ever vanish from WWE television, but to be honest given the status of those who usually hold them they might as well have.
