I made this post after seeing the likes of Ryhno, Tajiri, RVD, and Mysterio in the tag team hunt on both shows and then thought weren't these guys being under used in the WWE?

Apart from 619, the others were great singles competitors and have now in my eyes been put in the tag division because they thought 'well I want some air time but not getting any in the singles area'.

Has anybody else seen this?

I know most believe the tag division is for has beens who the WWE do not want to push as singles men............ even on heat and velocity!!!

Who else thinks this? Give me your views...

Apart from 619? Does that mean you don't think he's good as a singles? as for Tajiri though' date=' can't see him getting anywhere but tag team on Raw...or Heat sadly.[/quote']

i meant he is a great singles man but unlike rvd and the rest IS getting more air time

tajiri is an excellent cruiserweight he should be on smackdown not raw

The tag team scene is certainly a lot weaker than it has been because at the time of the roster split WWE had way too much talent on their hands to give tv time to and so they split up a few tag teams and pushed them singley and madea few new ones. But since then a lot of talent has gone and it seems the WWE are spreading themselves to thinly now.

Even up to about Wrestlemania XX there wasnt too bad a tag team scene. I mean there were 8 tag teams in two matches back then. At the moment on TV I honestly cant think of two proper tag teams who compete on a weekly basis and arent really singles stars. La Resistance and the Dudley Boyz

Firstly to address the post in question, Yep the tag division has become poor. Got my hopes up a lot when kidman and london won the belts and finally thought they were going to build the division up around a tag TEAM, but no sure enough in a few short weeks they were giving the belts to a made up team of singles guys and the belts remain non credible. They realy need to get some teams in rather than shoving guys together whom they can't think of anything to do with. It's time all the divisions got built up around the belts and became credible. In my eyes there is not one single belt with credibility in the WWE. You've got HHH's belt, Cena's belt (which booker is simply stringing the feud out for), some half assed tag belts, a crusier belt that is not being utilised and it pains me to say it that the one belt with any vague interest is JBL's (never thought i'd say that!!)

But i feel i must reply to Rey's post. Tajiri? Not getting anywhere?? If i had my way i would really cut the cruisers loose and build up a division all on it's own with actual feuds for the belt. From a business sense you'd have to have rey gunning for it as the face (even though i would prefer him not to be champ i admit he does draw) but as my main heel...Tajiri, every time. I think he could be a key player in the heel ranks of the division along with chavo (was he not injured at the moment) fighting against the crowd favourites of rey etc. And Tajiri would be the first to get the belt if i was running the show. Sadly i'm not so i must get back to work and stop dreaming of a day when wwe is watchable again!

Yes,I think the tag team division on both brands is a joke, I may be wrong but isn't there only 3 full time old school combo's in the whole of WWE? The Dudleys,The Bashems and La Resistance, by old school I mean same attire, same gimmick,a team name and a tandom finisher.Other teams are just thrown together one week and given a title shot!? I long for the days when the tag team division was a division in itself, the only time you really saw a tag guy in a singles match was against another tag guy, they both had thier partners at ringside and it was only done to advance the feud the team were having.I think they need to look back at all the teams they had in the WWF,guys like Demolition, the Hart Foundation, Road Warriors, Rockers, Nasty Boys, Rougous(?), Powers of Pain, Orient Express, Bulldogs, there are loads,I'm not saying all of the above were great, but they were all In my eyes proper tag teams.I know they used to pair guys up back then too,Andre and Haku come to mind, but it was balanced out with the sheer wealth of 'proper' tag teams on offer.

I know exactly what you man. If two singles guts can be thrown together and win the belts, it kind of devalues guys who spend months and months together and are tag team specialists. Now im no Basham fan. But surely the fact that they spend every week together mean that in a tag match they can take apart Rhyno and Tajiri? The best teams are so similar and together they can almost read each others mind (in real life as well as in character) I remembernot to long ago when the tag team division had guys like the Hardey's, Dudleys, E+C, APA and even Billy and Chuck. Anyone could look at these and nknow exactly who was teamed wioth who. In terms of match quality, I saw a four way tag on TWC a while back that was breahtaking. There was one sequence in particular where one team, (I think Trent Acid was one of them) had a combination attack that flowed brilliantly for a good 5 or 6 moves. Thats what the Tag division should be about.

The WWE tag team division is definately a joke at the moment. Any good teams don't last long enough to make it worth anything. It wasn't that long ago (the era of Hardyz, Dudleyz, and E+C) that the best matches were tag team - with crazy tlcs and cage matches. Now it's slightly naff.

Lets be honest here. WWE is using the tag division to utilise singles wrestlers for which creative can't come up with a reasonable storyline for. Pure tag teams don't seem to exist anymore (with the obvious exceptions mentioned above) and WWE dont want to spent the time and effort hyping up a tag division when the merchandising for 2 singles wrestlers pushed together as a team would probably outsell a genuine tag team.

It's obvious that WWE no longer values creating credible tag teams as as soon as any tag wrestlers show a modicum of popularity they are given a singles push. All credit to Shelton Benjamin, but he & Charlie Haas could have been tag team legends if they'd stayed together. Even The Dudleys and The APA were split up because WWE thought they would be great singles stars.. you wouldn't see that happening with The Road Warriors, would you?

The only existing 'proper' WWE tag team not curtain jerking jobbers like the Bashams are La Resistance, and they've already had one member dragged off for a singles push.

On teh flip side, I'm all in favour of sticking two under-utilised wrestlers together to form a tag team - it worked with Billy Gunn & Road Dogg, after all. But they need to be an actual team, not just two seperate guys like Rhyno & Tajiri, Flair & Batista, Benoit & Edge etc etc etc. Lets take Charlie Haas and Rico for an example: not the best of gimmicks as I'm sure all will agree, but sticking Charlie in a pair of Rico trousers would at least be a step in teh right direction.

Unless things change and WWE invest in cementing some real tage team specialists I don't think we'll ever see a credible tag division again.

thanks that is a class move and so rightly named it is Poetry in motion

the wwe tag division is not on a good road at all

if the creative team cant come up with a new gimmick for a singles wrestler 2 things should be done

1. get a better creative team in

2. do what vince has done with taboo tuesday

LET THE FANS DECIDE :thumbsup :thumbsup

:worship
