Call on meeeeeeeeeeee

Call on me

Call on meeeeeeeeeeee

Call on me

and so on

God I hate dance music and I have done for years. Dont get me wrong I can still listen to some of it desite being absolutely huge on nu metal and rock but some of the older stuff from about 99 is very listenable but then i stuck on the tv and what I saw was both shocking and well dare i say arousing. It was a workout video like none ive ever seen, women with tight clothing on, and not much of it working out in some very questionable positions. it was brilliance, and the song wasnt too bad either but then again it could of been the sound of a strangled cat for all I cared the video was awesome, but everytime its on I just have to watch and the song is really growing on me.

Ever had that or just the opposite with anything else? Could it have been the girating hips on these women in the video that made you like this song even?

Nope . . . . sorry but the quality of the song is all that matters in the long run, and that "Call On Me" piece of crap song is just the pits. They take one line out of a song that's been out before, repeat it over and over again, keep the same basic tune behind it, stick a dance beat over it and it becomes a hit?! Likewise, I like a little bit of dance every now and then, but songs like this are just garbage.

Getting back to the question (sorry), I honestly can't think of any song I've ever come to like because of the video

Videos in music are given more importance in mainstream circles I would say than the songs themselves, though that's nothing new.

The next time you're blown away by a slick, or in this case, semi-pornographic video, leading you to think about getting the song or album it promotes, just take a moment to look away from the screen, just ignore it and listen to the song without the video that's had more effort put into it than the song itself. Would you still like it or think of buying it? The answer usually for a lot of people much of the time is no, they wouldn't.

Of course the women in the video look decent, but it's the same tactic, rehash a hit that's been done before, put a dance beat on it and get some scrubbers to act dirty in the video. While I'm not a big dance music fan I can accept that it's not always that formulaic, lazy or easy, but when this sort of thing is what rises to the top of the charts, it's hard for some people to take the charts or dance music seriously.

First of all, how anyone can be attracted to plastic sluts like that is beyond me. It does absolutley nothing for me. The song itself is garbage. A perfect example of todays dance scene. Lets be fair, Most people listen to dance music when there partying, and there for drunk as a skunk. So you don't really care what you listen to. As such, most of it is just a rip off of another song with a formulaic dance beat set over it. Usually with some no name chick schreeching over it. Why would you soberly want to listen to it?

Welshscouser, there was no need to have a go at Peter for having a different opinion on you. I've edited out those lines out of your post as I did NOT deem them right, as it was only his opinion. If you have a problem with any of this, send me a PERSONAL MESSAGE and do NOT use the thread as the platform to ask me about this. That'll be all. Nicole.

You're supposed to dance to it, not listen to it, hence the name DANCE music!

And that, right there, is why I hate 90% of dance music. More thought is put into whether people are gonna want to dance to it than into the damn music itself. Songs like "Call On Me" and "Baby Cakes" are just garbage. They're the laziest, easiest way of making money through music. I mean, I know what you're saying KJ, but I prefer music I can listen to. And I have to say, there is some dance music you can dance to and listen to; that's the dance music made by talented people, as opposed to those who just take a line of an old song and repeat it over and over again to a pretty generic beat

I like it' date=' a nice summery dance tune. The video is classic as well.[/quote']

Point is though is that it is September, so its Autumn and its pissing down half the time... hardly summery ain't...

Then again I hate most dance music anyway although I do like a bit of Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers and Orbital....

But I know crap music when I hear it and this and that good awful Babycakes annoy the crap out of me!

I hate these dodgy dance covers with a passion! Too much lately they seem to be sampling classic tracks and sticking some dodgy dance beat behind it. It was done with Don Henly's Boys Of Summer, and loads others as well, what is the music industry coming to when pieces of crap get to number 1?

I downloaded it like I said I would as Chris had stated it was one of the greatest songs ever and I've actually heard it before. And it isn't as bad as I figured it would be. It is pretty obvious and repetitive and unmemorable but it's not that cheesy which I guess isn't so bad.

I think you might have exaggerated a little bit though Cfb. :)

Ah, you mean that me saying you can't listen to much music or something means that its not a passion.Music is a big passion of mine, why I study it for GCSE (shit by the way) and stuff. I still dont think the song is good musically, I could have composed it on a keyboard at school!

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but why do you feel the need to criticize someone if they like something which you don't? Everyone has different tastes in music, so if you're not into whatever genre of music is being discussed, then don't bother posting to the thread, because by saying you think its crap you're not adding anything to the conversation. If we actually had people who are interested in the type of music then the posts are actually constructive and add to the thread, instead of having post after post saying its crap. If we actually had more threads like this, then the forums wouldn't be in such a shit state.

I have talked to some people about how I feel about the forums now, and they seemed to agree, I found them to be a great place to chat and generally have fun on the internet back in 02/03, but this year I don't find it fun at all, several million new people have invaded and seemingly taken the forums over, and I don't see how its enjoyable talking to people who I barely know, and especially when some I've come across seem to think they own the site. To be honest, this thread has pretty much summed up the forums these days for me, which is why from now on, don't expect to see anything constructive posted from me. I've had enough.

Well, I'm surprised...

The reasons I don't post here are basically because I know for an absoloute fact people dont like me particularly...But I'm not getting into all of that now, basically I do post here now and again here and there. But if you've noticed, not a lot. I keep my posting now to a bare minimum, therefore keeping the peace. because,I,like Peter found that no matter what I said/posted about - People were gonna complain. and hence forth TWO turned into a place where EVER THREAD (Excuse caps) is a "moan on". It's always people mocking the subject, saying how crap it is,etc, you get the idea.

When I used to post here frequently I'd be the one to try and lift the spirits of those "moaners" who moaned on and on about how crap somemthing was. I agree with Peter,if you don't like it,dont say it!

So I now tend to read through the threads of people saying how crap something is - and I'm dying to reply saying my point of view - But I'm actually afraid because I know that no matter what I say, people reply giving you some cause of grief and make you feel bad for liking something.

Anyway that's my moan on, I'm not aiming this at anyone in particular, but I still seem to think the Forums here (while I have no problem with tjem and still think theyre great) have been taken over by "moaners" :evil
